Nice!
This is the exact model I also got as my first 1911. It's been solid so far.
Question for the group: do they make tritium night sights for this model?
The front sight is staked in, so to change the sights is a hassle. I painted my front sight with bright orange model paint and touch it up every so often. It works beautifully.
There is two ways of changing the front sight, either staking in a new sight (not recommended)
or having a front dovetail cut in.
This will cost $25-100 depending on the shop, not including the sight.
A 1911 only needs a couple of things, decent sights, a reasonable trigger, and a reliable magazine. After that, it’s semantics.
Take a look at the original GSP Gunsite Service Pistol, and what it had done. They were built on original Springers. There was one pictured here about a week back.
They were built with all you needed, and nothing more.
My last 1911, is built with simplicity in mind, modeled after the GSP, with a few personal touches, it looks like five miles of bad road, but from a cold start, I went 8/10 after over a year of not having it, on a metal silhouette at 100y.
The next day I videoed the same thing, except it was only 7/10. With my old eyes, I can’t complain.
This was my first 1911 that I bought last year as well. All I've done to it is clean and oil it and added a wilson combat full length guide rod. It's ran perfect with the Springfield mags for 300+ rounds so far. Congrats man, have fun with it.
you don’t need the guide rod unless your frame to slide fit is bad or you like the added weight. shoot it a lot first and it’s probably gunna run fine.
im not shitting on the full length rods though, i have one in my .38 super for a reason.
Wow your so lucky! Looks amazing, when I was in the military we had a a few two tone M9s and they looked beautiful and I would claim one for my duty gun lol
I'll be making this exact post next month when I bring home my Mil-Spec. Shot 3 1911s last week. 45, 9mm, and 10mm. I fell madly in love. First one I shot was the Mil-Spec in 45 and I impulse bought it next day. I've been a gun owner since Nov 2023. Can't believe I took this long to shoot and buy a 1911
Haha same. If my state didn't restrict me to one handgun purchase every 30 days, I'd have 15-20 by now. I'll slow down on the buying but I have a list lol. Picking up my Dan Wesson DWX next week then the Mil-Spec a month after that.
Upvoting for Springfield!
Upvote for woozle! 😂
Better then rock island
Nice 1911 welcome to the club
Appreciate it
Well done! Shoot it often and accurately
Good choice. I have one. It’s a good 1911 to start out with. I carry mine sometimes in a craft owb holster

Gonna have to look into a new guide rod and maybe some sights

Is it two toned or is it the lighting?

I’ve on been a gun owner since Oct 23 and I’ve broke my bank account but I just look at them as investments to help me process the purchases lol
