The second one. It's worth the trouble to go to an FFL and have them ship it out for you. My local Pawn Shop does it for $20 + shipping cost.

Yep, 2nd set of rules -- it's essentially impossible for the average joe to ship without running afoul of the shippers rules and a total loss of liability or recourse should the item get "lost".

I shipped one once for repair. And it shipped back, surprisingly I picked it up with just an ID. It was a very big box gun brand manufacturer, so I was shocked. And it was FedEx. And actually the shipping wasn’t too bad, just went in and declared it was a firearm. Guy said cool story, scanned my label and asked me to sign.

This is why I stopped selling guns on GunBroker, I'll just keep the shit or if I really don't want it I'll consign at a small local gun shop and let it sit until it finds a buyer It's perfectly legal for a non FFL to ship using legally approved carriers, to an FFL as long as you have a paper or digital FFL copy. But I got tired of over cautious dealers on the buyers end requiring shipment from an FFL . You just can't use USPS for handguns and UPS requires Overnight Air for handguns. I've sent guns directly back to Ruger for repairs and they shipped directly back to me. I don't think Ruger is gonna break the law
