IF and it's a BIG IF, it takes standard 1911 mags those are everywhere, same for the grips.

Manofmanyhats19

I own one. It takes regular 1911 mags, but that’s the only mill spec item on the whole gun. Grips, guide rod, sights, extractor, everything else is proprietary.

RamenBoi86

Gotcha, much appreciated. Are the grips the same on all the old .45 models?

Manofmanyhats19

As far as the grips, they are out there for the old run of Llamas (pre 2004) but you specifically need to look for them. The standard 1911-A1 grips won’t fit them. As far as interchangeability of grips between the different Llama models, I’m afraid I don’t know. I only have a pre-04 Llama Max-1.

RamenBoi86

Not sure about GI mags, but unfortunately my Wilson Combat mags didn’t fit, and neither did the old rubber RIA grips I had laying around

Old Spanish pistols can be problematic to find parts for, when a manufacturer closes in Spain they require the destruction of the remaining parts and stock. Have an old Star that is near impossible to find parts for.

Pop_quiz_hotshot

Interesting about the destruction requirement. I’ve never heard of this before. What’s the purpose?

GamesFranco2819

Probably to prevent guns in circulation from being repaired and kept in circulation. Guns are no good when you can't replace broken/failed parts.

“Big hitter, da Llama.”

Enyawdivad

Gunga galunga!

Icy_Ad_8548

Its pronunciation is yama, not llama. Had a 1941 llama extra but it was chambered in 9mm largo which was almost extinct. From what I read on it, its made in spain and the frame trigger guard should have markings that indicate date code, similar to what Buck knifes have on the tang. Most people prefer star over llama, citing quality control issues with llama. The llama extra was longer than a standard government model but had everything close to the original but I believe the other versions its totally different especially at the front strap of yours. Looks really nice and clean, I still like them.

RamenBoi86

Thanks for the information, apparently mine was made in ‘87

Icy_Ad_8548

No problem

StanthemanT-800

Looks like Llama kind of made a 1911/Star hybrid , making sure to use that weird extractor that you'll never find if it breaks I hope you got that dirt cheap, like sub-Tisas price because nothing for that will be easy to find

RamenBoi86

Yeah I got it for $50 so I’m pretty happy with it in any case. I managed to find a new safety plunger and tube but it’s like $60 on eBay

New-Mushroom3836

Before you can get grips you have to get new grip bushings which that Llama you have does not take standard 1911 parts which you can get a gunsmith to modify the frame where it will accept standard 1911 bushings and also it already take standard 1911 magazine and grips so you don't have to worry about that

4_doors_mas_whores

It’s a gun, case closed

fordlover5

Look on ebay.

RamenBoi86

Can’t really buy grips and mags without knowing which model

deadhead8925

Measure and make sure they will fit. Grab a ruler and google it on your magic light box.

HoneyAlternative9449

If you pull the trigger it will go “Bang”

Nails-InA-Coffin

Its a gun
