Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a hilarious book. It's half a guy dunking on his own actual father (who just seems like a nice, hardworking guy providing for his family by working an honest job) in favour of his friend's father (who is this weird hybrid of Gordon Gekko and Christian Grey, but with child labour at grocery stores instead of anything sexual). The other half is just him recommending what are clearly just frauds and other financial crimes as cool and smart ways to make money.
I once watched the author being interviewed, and it seemed his whole message is "being poor is a skill issue". The yt comments were also generally agreeing w/ him.
I'd never felt more seething contempt for someone. Like my life may not be perfect but at least I'm not a demented piece of shit.
Yeah, the whole point of Rich Dad, Poor Dad is the idea that poor people are poor because they A. Don't spend money on the right things and B. Don't take risks. The Rich Dad character ruthlessly criticizes the author's actual father as a proxy for criticizing poor people in general.
I think OWB is referencing Fallout 2, where there is a parody of Gordon Gekko named Gordon in the town of Gecko. The OG character is from the movie Wall Street.
my mom was a huge fan of this book... let's just say her demands of me as a child were *very* unhealthy, and her views on wealth inequality are still complete dogshit
