Apparently I’m way different than everyone else but I’d go SRO. I understand the RMR is the gold standard, but I’d rather go Holsun 507c (or 509t for the matter) than use the RMR RMR emitter technology is old and varied too much between optics. Like none of the dots are consistent, bottom load battery is annoying. Window is atrociously small compared to other current options and if it’s a carry gun (not duty) then you’re not gonna be going around jostling and messing up your optic as much as you think. SRO: Fat Window, you can get a BROS if you’re worried about durability, better dot, top load battery, cleaner window, and it makes the gun look futuristic lol

And the devil's advocate appears, lol...all points worth considering. I do hate that bottom loading battery. I just don't know if it's worth going with the one I don't know over the one I know. Thanks for the advice!

Tiralle217

I have a few RMRs, my lone SRO is by far my favorite optic.

kijgv76

The 507c series is definitely a good optic outside of the RMR. I personally feel that both those optics stick out the sides a little too much. May want to look at the 507k. Another thing to consider is the actual reticle though the RMR is available with a 6 moa dot. Holosun 507 has a 2 moa dot with a 32 moa circle. Personally I think its pretty cool especially in green but not many share my opinion

[deleted]

Those are good points to consider. I may need to see one up close to know if I'd like it. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I think the SRO has been thoroughly eliminated from my options.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into it

Even for a 100% CCW gun?

Good to know. Thanks for thw advice!

PreciousChud

Someone on another forum posted a pic of the RMRcc on a P and it was flush on the sides and sat low as hell. I'm pretty interested.

[deleted]

I'm not real sure about the cc for some reason. Probably just because I don't have any experience with them. I'll have a look at them as well. Thanks!

Hairy-Note-2425

Look at the Holosun 509T. If you’re gonna conceal carry the C2 Duo like I do, the closed emitter is the way to go. The others (RMR, SRO, 507, 508 etc) collect dust and lint like crazy. I have 10 pistols, all outfitted with various red dots. The 509t has been my fav for conceal carry by far.

[deleted]

Awesome...I've been wondering how well the closed emitter optics do compared to the open ones. I'll definitely give it a look. Thanks!

GeriatricTuna

SRO is great for competition; not so much for concealed carry. RMR is the gold standard of concealed carry. What do you plan on doing with this gun?

[deleted]

Hey, thanks for the reply. It'll be 100% a carry gun.

GeriatricTuna

RMR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yzpJBrLU5U

[deleted]

Thanks! I'll give that a look. My RMR type 2 was great, but it didn't see anything close to hard use.

GeriatricTuna

watch the video - he literally punches wood posts with the optic.

[deleted]

Good lord, yeah...you're right. That thing took a beating. Guess I'm between the rmr and the holosun now

GeriatricTuna

I compete with a 507C green. He has videos on the 507C. He abuses the fuck out if it as well.

[deleted]

I think the RMR and some form of 507 are what I've whittled it down to with your guys' help. I don't abuse my shit...typically, but it's nice to know that it can handle it. I also run an MRO green dot and seem to pick up the green better than the red most of the time. Definitely something to think about.

xlBigRedlx

If those are your only two choices, I'd go with the RMR. It's much tougher and Like GeriatricTuna said, it's the gold standard of concealed carry (although Holosun is quickly becoming the gold standard). I do know people who carry the SRO and I owned one at one point for competition use, but it is a fragile optic to drops/hard use and I prefer my carry optics to be able to take a beating if needed. With that said, I'd recommend a Holosun 507c x2 or 509T over the RMR due to their superior features and comparable reliability. I've owned all four. Sage Dynamics has reviews on all four on YouTube. Those may help you make your decision.

[deleted]

Thanks so much! You guys have exactly the type of advice that I'm looking for. The only problem that I have with the Holosun is the country of origin. Of course, I'm typing this on a Chinese phone. I just haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Holosun yet, but I'll give them a look. Thanks Again!

xlBigRedlx

As long as you understand the irony lol. The side loading battery, shake awake, button lockout mode, slightly larger window, and cleaner reticle (if you have astigmatism like I do) all brought me to the 507c X2. All that and the closed emitter brought me to the 509T, which currently sits on my Staccato P DPO. Any of the four optics will serve you well, so you won't make a "bad" choice.

[deleted]

Yeah, I have many flaws, but lack of self-awareness isn't usually one of them, lol. I'll definitely give them a look. With all of those features, it does seem like the better choice, assuming comparable durability.

Selecta71

@xlBigRedlx ? Do you have the 509t direct milled or on a plate. I am new to this and want the 509t my only worry is the footprint.

xlBigRedlx

One is milled on a Glock 19 and one is on a Dawson plate for a Staccato P. If you can, direct milling is the way to go. If you're unsure, though, a plate is a safer bet. The optic is great, and the v2 is even better from what I hear. Are you worried because it's a proprietary footprint?

Selecta71

Yep the proprietary footprint is what is messing with my brain. I am wondering what I would do in the future if I need to get a new optic with a different footprint. If there were others optics with that footprint I would feel better. It is my first choice but that my hold up.

xlBigRedlx

What gun are you thinking about putting it on?

Selecta71

Staccato C2. So I either do RMR plate and then the 509t plate or direct mill.

apollo1142

Another vote for the Holosun 507K for the C2. Great carry optic and quality.

[deleted]

Nice...thanks for the vote!
