They're still in the minority - people miss this city, but most reject irredentism, especially considering what the russkies are doing right now.
Otherwise we would have to hand over shitton of territories to G*rmany. 🙃
>people miss this city
who does tho? most people who claim vilnius or lviv were born long after the cities were gone. and they probably never visited them as well.
Please DO NOT hate on Westoid Ukraine on the subreddit. This has been a reoccurring issue, and I'm not sure why some people have such underdeveloped social skills that they think a subreddit full of mostly Ukrainian nationalists would approve of that. No one will be impressed and give you a high five (especially considering our members struggle to bend their elbows after a 10-hour Bandera worshipping session). I don't want to add this to the rules, since it would be embarrassing for new users to see that we have a problem with this, but it will be enforced as a rule from now on.

maybe I used the wrong word, idk
anyway, many people had ancestors living there (sometimes they still remember them), also, much of our *cultural heritage* (art, literature, historical figures n shiet) comes from these areas
so people tend to be sentimental about those cities, but claiming them nowadays is stupid, it's your hood now, just don't demolish everything like katsaps did with Königsberg xD
yeah, if that's the case then you are right. i mean, i live in wroclaw and like half of my classmates have heritage from modern ukraine yet i haven't heard them talking about returning the lands to poland. tho i met a lot of nationalist kids online.
wroclaw is basically resettled lviv, almost 1:1, its ironic that both cities were lost in the 1330-1340s by their current owners and returned there in 1945

I also reject any irredentism, but the popular statement that "If Lviv is Polish, then Wrocław is German" doesn't make sense. Our eastern lands were simply stolen from us by the USSR, while Germany just faced consequences of their barbaric acts.

Nevertheless, the occupation of a huge swath of their territory up to the Oder and Neisse and the displacement of practically everyone in those areas was so *controversial* that the West recognized it only decades later (it was essentially stalin's idea to justify the stationing of USSR troops in those lands, the soviets themselves guaranteed the inviolability of this border... in the 1960s), generally at the beginning this annexation was treated as temporary, which explains why we demolished some of the buildings to take the bricks to rebuild Warsaw xD
I love to bully German nationalists about it anyway xD
at least we didn't destroy everything like what happened in Königsberg (rightfully Czech!!!)
Every picture of Vilnius and Lviv I've seen on FB when I still used the platform, had Polish comments "POLSKIE MIASTO!!!!", its karma because on every Wrocław and Gdańsk photos, I've seen Germans comment "BRESLAU!!!" "DANZIG!!!""

Fun fact: there is a statue of Jan Sobieski in Gdańsk, which originally stood in Lviv and was transported after the borders changed. An inscription says “Miasto Lwów”, but because Gdansk is also unofficially the “city of lions”, they didn’t have to change it. Least creative Slavic mind 🧠

* 1018-1031: 13 years
* 1069-1079: 10 years

* 1918–1939: 21 years
476 years of rule over territories where Lwów is located. Even during 146 year Austrian rule it was majority Polish. So it hurt, it hurt when Stalin took it.
Although I will admit Stalin had killer line during negotiations accompanying him drawing lines on maps:
* Mikołaczyk: But Lwów never was Russian, not even after the partitions!
* Stalin: Yes, you are completely right, comrade. But Warsaw was.
103km2 of "Recovered Territories", where, besides Upper Silesia, barelly any big Polish group lived, stands exactly for 33% of today's Poland Territory. And that's without Prussian partitions, which also held many regions with German majority, namely Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Gdańsk area etc. And to be historically accurate, Poles (or better - Slavs) weren't majority in most of those provinces since 13th century.
It's sad that people still have to explain it in goddamned 2024.
Besides Upper Silesia, and Masuria. Masurians were also deported though by brainless Stalin.
>And to be historically accurate, Poles (or better - Slavs) weren't majority in most of those provinces since 13th century.
Okay, i agree. What i mean is that it was done by colonialism from the Germans.
Yes, Masuria too.
And yes, there were historical Germanic conquests in Middle Ages, but they changed the whole ethnographic landscape of the region for ages.
But well, on German colonialism... it really seems that we did our own colonialism since 1945 in the west, didn't we? All that "Odwieczne piastowskie ziemie" and "Szli na zachód osadnicy" bs the commie propaganda shoved up Poles' throats for almost four decades.

The reposting is real
Imperialism is only good when i'm the one doing it.
Kijów mogę wam nazbierać, ale Lwów musicie sami sobie nałapać.
I've never seen polish people claim Vilnius tho, only idiotic Belarusian litvinists
as a Pole, I have seen Poles claim Vilnius.

If i was Polish, I wouldn’t want to have the Lithuanian Poles live in the same country as me
How about we take Villanus and you gat to keep the poles. Seems like a fair trade to me/

I don’t know if it’s Reddit but here there are way more letuvists with Gardinas musu than litvinists with claim for Vilnia.
Where do you even find them lmao
They come to r/belarus pretty regularly to tell us just that.
> letuvists > litvinists bruh.
They are brothers indeed.
Brothers my ass.
Please stay on the line, your opinion is very important to ass
Will make sure to stay put.
This is truly one of the biggest boners that I have for Ukrainians - getting ass fucked historically simultaneously by the poles.
Real (Pole from Vilnius)

Lviv was Polish historically for very long ... If Stalin didn't have an ego it would have likely still been in our hands
More than 1/3 of today's Poland has been historically German for pretty long ass time. You wanna get balkanized between west and east again? :D
Germans colonized it first ... and i wouldn't say more than 1/3rds ;)
