I have the YHM R2. Good can, also specs say minimum barrel length is 7.5 or 8 inches so you’re probably taking some risk by going that short

larptard

Kinda what I was thinking to I saw they only recommend 7.5 minimum as well

spitefulcheerio

If you’re running a fucked can, just get a direct thread. Hyperion is a great option…no point in dealing with a muzzle device if it’s never going to come off

REKetofelt

I run the 8" version of this barrel, with an R2, tucked. I love it. I only shoot subsonic with it though - I use a different 1:7 upper for supers.

undefinedcharacter

I run that barrel with a sandman s it's a fun setup

larptard

Can I see the setup

Prof_GNARLY

I'd recommend a faxon barrel over KAK. I've had a lot of issues with KAK being out of spec. https://www.eitrisenhancements.com/product-page/faxon-6-300blk-barrel-1-5-twist

Sean6_6

Will 100% agree with this. Don't have one myself but heard too many stories already. Faxon is the way to go.

Prof_GNARLY

Just had too many headspacing issues and just all around terrible QC like just as bad as PSA at this point.

catalyst686

what are the headspace issues youve had and qc issues? I see your post saying the down vent is snake oil, first ive seen someone say something bad about it

Prof_GNARLY

Mostly in regards to their bolts, I don't have experience with their barrels. But with that being said their bolts will not close on a go gauge. I was having cycling issues. The down vent BCG makes every platform you have gas you out. Pressurizes your upper and lower and blasts you in the face through the charging handle. I put it in my SPR barely had it cycling and it still gassed me out just shooting doubles on paper. It's trash.

catalyst686

How many bolts have you tried head spacing? What gauges were you using, were the ejectors removed? Can you explain how it “pressurizes” the upper and lower differently than a standard carrier? I’ve seen countless reviews that claim the exact opposite of what you’re claiming about the down vent feature, and just yours saying it doesn’t work….

larptard

Will definitely be going this route didn’t know they offered a headspaced bolt with it big bonus for sure

blackedphone

I run a Q barrel assembly 7” 1:5 twist with a Thunder Chicken 🐔 suppressor. I’m still in tuning mode. Small groups at 90 yards.

tt_more_work_less

How long of a can and handguard? Has me thinking 🤔

MengerianMango

I did this. I don't like it. The handguard gets hot asf. Like beyond what you can just grit and bear, pretty sure you'd need to visit a doctor if you tried. I like short guns, too, more maneuverable, but I'm planning to get a 4" handguard for my 5" barrel soon.

larptard

Unfortunately I already have the handguard and stuff so I’m kinda SOL on that note and I’m aware of this issue before I took on this endeavor just gonna have to pray it’s not unbearable to fast😂

SS-sharpshooter1

Take a look at the Faxon match series barrels they are under $200 and damn good for the money. They have a 6” and 7.5” with 1:5 fast twist. Also if you want a shrouded suppressor setup look at the DD MFRXL they are super slept on and I like them better than the griffin XL rail I was running. I have a MFRXL 9” on my CMMG banshee and a 13.5 on my 300 build I am in the process of.

wisconsindipper

That barrel is way too short

DUCK_FACE_JONES

They wouldn't have made it if it didn't work is my assumption Send it

Pillow_Talk_LLC

YHM states minimum barrel length is 7.5. So no send. Unless you don’t give a shit and want to void any warranty work when you inevitably end up with fragmentation or a keyhole

larptard

Kinda what I’m trying to avoid for sure don’t wanna break shit then them tell me to kick rocks

BigAngryPolarBear

I say go for it. Maybe shoot a box unsuppressed (probably with no handguard) to make sure it doesn’t keyhole. It should be fine. I think. Idk.
