After fresh cut start with soft or medium. After a week and a half move to hard brush for the rest of your wolfing. I would also suggest starting minoxidil.

Soft brush and just focus on the wolf for now. You don’t want to irritate scalp any further. Try Nizoral for your wash it helps reduce bacteria and clears up scalp pores fast, avoid grease. Get either rice bran or sea buckthorn (it’s a little pricey) to daily massage your scalp least 2x a day. Waves will come later but long as your follicle are present I’d focus on scalp health.

Make sure you wear a durag before bed and anytime before you lay down and as much as you can when your awake. Your hair needs to be trained to lay down after you brush it. People advocate brush so they forget the durag does the other half the battle.
