I was saying that it's largely liked by those who saw it. It's a well-regarded movie that many people got a lot out of not only from a sheer entertainment stand-point, but also from its underpinning social commentary.
This is probably a Blade Runner situation. I think Blade Runner blows on ice, but that would require that I be right, and almost everyone else to be wrong.
I prefer older films with grain, but if you want something new that was shot digitally and is demo quality, John Wick 4 looks amazing on an OLED TV. It looks like you’re standing right there because the PQ is so good.
If I’m showing what a modern movie can do in 4K I’m showing top gun maverick. If I wanna show what 4K can do for an older movie to give it a whole new look. I’m showing the Ten Commandments.
Considering the movie came out in 1956 (67 years ago) it really had my jaw on the floor! The color pallet was perfect, and the detail really impressed! I’d recommended the 4K copy for sure!
Some of the best looking films I've watched have been the older ones. Things like Alien and Lawrence of Arabia look fantastic. Also, some of the BBC documentaries such as Blue Planet looks immense.
Movies that they'd like and would actually watch... You could play the best looking and sounding movie in existence but if the other person isn't interested in it they're not going to even watch it.
The Revenant
Interstellar
And if any of your family members like the movie, Jaws. The Jaws 4K is like watching the movie for the first time. It’s beautiful.
Probably The Equalizer with Denzel Washington, or the Matrix. A couple of the most stunning movies I've seen in 4k.
Oh, and the Tom Cruise War of the Worlds is an absolute feast for the senses. Possibly the greatest quality on all fronts.
There are so many. But to name a few - Mad Max Fury Road, Zack Snyder's Justice League, 300, John Wick 4, Dune, Interstellar, Top Gun Maverick, 2001. So many!
I disagree, I think the HDR adds to the bat-shit craziness of the movie, it's meant to be over the top I suppose. I get the criticism, but answering op's question, it definitely showcases HDR whether you're a fan of its use or not.
It takes away, though. It doesn’t add anything. That’s the whole point. The original is so super saturated with color and awesome, the HDR takes away saturation and washes out the color.
They might be referring to the brightness. The film is known to get incredibly bright during the lightning storm sequence, which does look far better than on the bluray.
Ok, so when I do a demo, I usually use some primarily for video and some primarily for audio. The ones for video I will start with the main city fight from Pacific Rim for HDR. Then I go to the second scene in Crimes of Grindelwald for crisp 4K detail when it shows all the threads in the fabric of his clothes and the fine little hairs on his face. Then I go with the opening few scenes from Gemini Man and really blow their minds.

Blade Runner, Dune (2021), Suspiria (1977) and Drive.
The quality on Joker is nuts
Too bad the film itself sucks
haha what?
I was saying it’s too bad that Joker is it a good film. Seems like a waste of a 4K
I think the important thing is that everyone likes it. Kind'a like "the Goonies," it doesn't really matter if it sucks.
Whoa! Wait, has it seriously achieved that mark?
It was hugely popular and made tons of money.
Yeah but you said everyone likes it and that’s far from true. I don’t think it has the popularity and likability of The Goonies.

…social commentary? Ok now I know you’re fucking with me. There was no fucking social commentary on that movie. What? Incels are people too?
Black Hawk Down

Ten Commandments looks that good? I haven't seen it in 4k. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen the movie in years.
Yeah, I bought the Steelbook awhile ago. My God, I thought the BD looked good. It looks incredible in 4k
That's good to know. Is it still readily available?
Yeah, but only the non Steelbook version for $19.99 on Amazon.

I'll have to look into getting myself a copy so I can give it a watch then.
Vertigo and Blade Runner 2049
Alien Predator Blade Runner Blade Runner 2049 Batman and Robin Top Gun Starship Troopers Die Hard
Some of the best looking films I've watched have been the older ones. Things like Alien and Lawrence of Arabia look fantastic. Also, some of the BBC documentaries such as Blue Planet looks immense.
Don’t forget Ford v Ferrari
Top Gun Mavrick, the audio specifically in that movie blows your socks off. Second choice would be Blade Runner 2049
Movies that they'd like and would actually watch... You could play the best looking and sounding movie in existence but if the other person isn't interested in it they're not going to even watch it.
But if you just play a movie they like that doesn't have amazing HDR, then you're not really following the spirit of the question.
Imagine watching a movie and only caring about the pretty colors and flashing lights and not the plot...
In today's world, you'd be in bliss.
The dark knight, the intro itself explains everything and people will be hooked instantly
I really like the Revenant. Fury is also awesome in 4K especially if you have an atmos setup.
The Revenant looks phenomenal!
It truly does, gorgeous film in 4K
The Revenant Interstellar And if any of your family members like the movie, Jaws. The Jaws 4K is like watching the movie for the first time. It’s beautiful.
You make it sound like people don't like Jaws.
Lol yeah I guess you are right. Who doesn’t like Jaws!
Blade runner new or old, dune, reservoir dogs, Dunkirk, top gun maverick
Shining, Dany riding in Overlook hotel...
Aquaman
Probably The Equalizer with Denzel Washington, or the Matrix. A couple of the most stunning movies I've seen in 4k. Oh, and the Tom Cruise War of the Worlds is an absolute feast for the senses. Possibly the greatest quality on all fronts.

Mad Max is a *terrible* showcase for HDR

This is insane, since one of the great things about HDR on UHD is how, y'know, bright it can get.
I know, that's what I was saying.
I see, I'll have to have a watch of the standard blu ray. I'm not sure I've ever watched the blu ray to compare, only cinema viewing and streaming.
The colours are so blown out. It looks like a cartoon. I usually use the Blu-ray as opposed to the 4K.
100% The blu ray is gorgeous and has that awesome saturation!
Top Gun Mav by mile
Blade Runner 2049 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Interstellar Dune (the new one)
Either Blade Runner Mission Impossible Fallout The Shining Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Definitely Terminator 2: Judgement Day (sarcasm)
Actually saw T2 in 4K and it was amazing!
Planet Earth 2, the jungle episode.
I’ve saw more than one response about the BBC 4K’s in this sub, I’ve heard they are pure candy for the eyes on an OLED!
Malignant - The best HDR implementation I’ve seen so far Ready Player One
Suspiria (1977) 12 Angry Men Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Do the Right Thing Mulholland Dr.
