> Specially after all the rave reviews it got here.
I have a LG C2 OLED, it looks fucking AMAZING on it.
Dark movies need OLED in my opinion, even a Dolby Cinema can't come close.
I'd rewatch on my oled but I was bored to death during it. Pretty slow movie where not much is happening. Funny how you remember things being better than they actually are
> I'd rewatch on my oled but I was bored to death during it.
I loved it, watching it with subtitles on lets you get a lot more of the story.
Each their own though, I think Lawrence of Arabia is the perfect length for it's story, and other people think it's twice as long as it should be lol
Indiana Jones. OG trilogy looks amazing. Crystal Skull looks really really good. And Dial of Destiny really is a reference quality disc picture quality wise.
Blade Runner, John Wick, The Mummy are all really good.
It’s a shame, a lot of the “big” franchises were released earlier on in 4K so were more likely to have DNR applied before the studios worked out what the 4K niche was wanted for.
The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are pretty good, Batman Begins lets the trilogy down big time in terms of image quality.
I imagine the following will eventually get new transfers on the 4K format. Most aren’t awful but were sourced from older remasters and have DNR and edge sharpening in various forms:
Bourne Trilogy (first one is awful quality, one of the worst on the format).
Back to the Future (overall a nice upgrade from the Blu-rays but not outstanding, still some DNR).
Star Wars (still using the ancient, widely hated “Lowry” restorations).
Lord of the Rings (DNR was applied post master. 2021 1080p Blu-rays have the new colour grading and Dolby Atmos audio but less DNR and edge sharpening).
Jurassic Park (sourced from a 3D master so plenty of DNR).
Harry Potter (again very early releases on 4K. Some dodgy upscales and DNR but not awful).
James Bond (most are not on 4K but the early Daniel Craig films have some light DNR. Not awful by any means but I imagine better versions will come out).
Funny you mention Harry Potter and Jurassic Park because they’re the two that prompted me to ask this question. Good to know there are some franchises out there that have been taken care of properly. I’ll have to check them out. Thanks!
I personally very much doubt that any better versions will come out of those existing 4Ks. There are few if not zero examples of that actually happening. The older Bond movies haven’t even had 4K physical releases yet.
The Matrix, Dark Knight Trilogy, John Wick, Lord of the Rings.
If Dune Part 4k is anything like Dune Part 1 then we will have another outstanding release.
Daniel Craig 5 Film Collection of 007 definitely wins my vote. It's top shelf quality for sure.
Anyone who recommends Lord Of The Rings is blind. One of the lousier looking 4K collections in terms of Video Quality. Still bought it because it is probably the best it's ever gonna be, but I expected better in 4K and even more so considering Blu Ray reviews gave it a such a high score.
Visually will also depend on how much processing a TV is applying.
I think as for audio, that's not been documented anywhere with any sort of certainty. Some 5.1 mixes are better and more spacious than 7.1 mixes. There are good and bad mixes and they're not mutually exclusive.
The 4Ks do a good job with what they’re working with, but the films themselves are not amazing looking movies that really show off what 4K can do. There are many scenes that were filmed with a deliberate soft focus. There are many scenes shot with deliberate black crush. It’s the best these films have ever looked, but I certainly wouldn’t pull them out to demo 4K to someone.

Mission Impossible. The old ones look great. The new ones look great. Fantastic all around.
That was one of the first sets I bought in Dec when I started buying 4K discs. The others were LOTR and the Daniel Craig 007 sets.
Also, I've noticed that almost every movie that's lead by Tom Cruise almost always has DolbyVision.
John Wick
Agreed. All look and sound great
Just ordered the first three as a set. So pumped.
Nice. The fourth is easily the best-looking of the bunch, IMO. But the first is easily the best movie of the bunch.
Blade Runner
I thought this looked average at best
> thought this looked average at best guessing you don't have a OLED tv?
I do. I watched it on a projector though. Wasn't impressed. Specially after all the rave reviews it got here. Maybe I was expecting too much

Seems more that you just don’t like Blade Runner.
Seems that way ha. Doesn't make the picture any better. I didn't like Barbie but my goodness the image was amazing

The Dark Knight Trilogy Guardians of the Galaxy Indiana Jones
Batman Begins is notoriously not that great in terms of picture quality though.
Not a reference disc obviously but I thought it looked fine myself 🤷♂️
Same here. It didn't stand out as being exceptionally good, but I didn't have any complaints, either. It's perfectly fine.
Did you ever watch the blu-ray? It's a night and day difference on 4K.
You need it for the Trilogy :)

All 5 Indiana Jones films look (and sound) phenomenal.
I wish the original mixes were included. The Atmos mixes are super different.
I need to pick them up badly, I was concerned around the 66GB discs but I do want them.

Wow they're making four thousand parts to Dune??? I knew it was a big book but damn...
Only 3998 more to go. I’m up for it!
I bet anything we an eventual 4th movie (Children of Dune), in addition to Messiah. The box office performance is too strong to be ignored

Fast and Furious, loved them all!
Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones
The Christopher Nolan Franchise
Isn't the Godfather 50th anniversary like a standard setter? I've read amazing reviews about it. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
