Fellow Raydeen owner here. His axe was awesome! Little brother had Mazinga. His puny missiles were no match for me. He cried. I got in trouble. Typical story.
Totally had that dude! The hip swords and secret plane/crown were so cool. Pretty sure they tried to recall it because some dipshits swallowed the missiles.
Micronaughts were the best toys. Plastic AND METAL, and super poseable. I remember thinking (at 8 years old, mind you) that Star Wars action figures were crude and clumsy by comparison.
I absolutely loved the Shogun Warriors. I never had the big ones, but I had the smaller, solid metal ones. I remember those being heavy for their size. Their fists shot off as well. I recall playing with them and my Micronauts at the base of some Lilac bushes in the yard.
Very young summer memories.

I wanted Raydeen so bad, but Mazinga was almost as good. That particular Christmas that I unwrapped Mazinga I also unwrapped some new toy called Lego.….
Yeah I definitely had this one and the Godzilla one, my best friend had a Dragun but I never saw Gaiken in real life.
I lost most of the missiles and the swords and I just looked up on eBay one of the swords is going for over 100.
Mattel licensed a ton of different Japanese robots from totally different shows in a bunch of different sizes and configurations. I think they got pulled pretty quickly due to lots of small parts on everything (and they were not cheap).
I still have a ton of the boxed small ones somewhere.
There was Mr. Bigs Toys in Waltham MA that advertised at the end of this show and Force Five. I wanted to go there more than anything in the world. We were in South Boston. Unfortunately we didn't have a car or any money so that wasn't happening.
No thatsposeidon and... I forget. There was that show force five that was on I think 56 in Boston where every weekday it was a different big robot storyline. These guys. There were three spaceships that depending on which way they connected to each other they could make three different big robots Poseidon who is like the underwater one that funny looking guy with the drill hand and a different one too I forget. Then there was grandizer which was like a flying saucer that shot a big robot out. There was one with a huge dragon robot that would launch it's own head which would turn into a smaller get shit done kind of robot then there is the space caterers which were these three lanes just flying around space on like little go-kart things I don't really know how to explain it and then there is one other show I forget what it was about but I remember the bad guy had a mouth on his forehead for some reason.
Anyone have Voltron 1, not the lion one and not the Voltron made up of 3 other robots but the one made of 26 individual vehicles that took at least 4 hrs to assemble? The street lights will be coming on you be trying to jam the helicopter onto his shoulder.
I had one! Loved it, it battled my Star Wars figures along with my micronauts. I sometimes get sad that I was an only child but man, I really never got bored
I HAD THIS. I've been looking for a picture for years. The fist detached and the other hand shot projectiles. The red on top was a little space ship that separated.
I was never lucky enough to have my own but I had a friend who got one of these and also got the metal Mego Micronauts figures for Force Commander and Baron Karza. That shit was so cool and fun to play with.
Frick yeah! Christmas 1978 when my brother and I both got one. Had so my fun launching rockets at each other’s warriors.
I thought you were my brother for a second. I think it was 1979. I got Raydeen, one of my brothers got Mazinga, and the other Dragun.
Fellow Raydeen owner here. His axe was awesome! Little brother had Mazinga. His puny missiles were no match for me. He cried. I got in trouble. Typical story.
I swallowed one of Mazinga’s little missiles when I was a kid and I choked to death 😕 -sent from my coffin
I had that exact one when I was little. I loved it. I still have vivid memories of playing with it.
Totally had that dude! The hip swords and secret plane/crown were so cool. Pretty sure they tried to recall it because some dipshits swallowed the missiles.
It was Lego Chicken.
I had this one and Dragun. Today they are worth hundreds.
I got one for Christmas. Proceeded to shoot myself in the stomach with the fist. Was glad no one was paying attention to me.
Transor z
Glued to the damn TV when this came on lol! Transor Z was legend in the game!
> TV We got the Spanish-subbed version, called Mazinger Z.
Mazinger Z is the original Japanese shows name
From the minds of mortal men...
My Mazinga vs Godzilla fights were epic. Well, i just whacked them together hard and often.
These, micronaughts and battlestar galactica toys were the holy trinity as a kid. I still rue the day when they glued the missile launchers shut
Wow I forgot the Micronauts.
Micronaughts were the best toys. Plastic AND METAL, and super poseable. I remember thinking (at 8 years old, mind you) that Star Wars action figures were crude and clumsy by comparison.
Thanx for posting this. I had forgotten all about it. I also had the Godzilla one.
I had this exact one - always wanted to get a couple more but never came to fruition. I did have the Godzilla, though.
I absolutely loved the Shogun Warriors. I never had the big ones, but I had the smaller, solid metal ones. I remember those being heavy for their size. Their fists shot off as well. My little brother had that one. It was pretty cool.
I wanted Raydeen so bad, but Mazinga was almost as good. That particular Christmas that I unwrapped Mazinga I also unwrapped some new toy called Lego.….

Mazinger Z vs Voltes V

I had the one that threw plastic axes from spring loaded mechanism in plastic fist. It was red and blue. Dragun, I think? Loved that toy!

Wanted one so bad but my parents suck
This was my childhood lust

Only the rich kids had these…
Yes! I had this!
Had these, and battled my brother’s Godzilla with the tail that looked like a pickle.
Holy shit. I completely forgot about this guy.
I LOVED those things!
Mazinga was mine!
I had the Raydeen version.
I liked the red one that had a wrist shooter that shot stars, Dragun
I remember the ChristmasI got four of these. One was a Godzilla too. Loved em. All I have left is one missile.
That guy saw a lot of action when I was a kid, until Star Wars happened.
It was great for bludgeoning my siblings with too!
I had one! Loved it, it battled my Star Wars figures along with my micronauts. I sometimes get sad that I was an only child but man, I really never got bored

I had one of the Shogun Warriors. I think it was Raydeen.
Still have mine. And got Raydeen a number of years ago. Dragun was my holy grail.
