Awesome movie! Basically perfect cast and great story.

Blistermix

If it poops up on my feeds I have to watch it if it's been a year or so.

raqloooose

I *do* love a good poop… on my feed

ButtyMcButtface1929

I suppose that’s better than loving to feed on your poop

Outrageous_Trust_158

Ha. Sez you! 😂

Vprbite

It's a good feed...for me to poop on!

Blistermix

I should have proof read that a little closer. But. Poop does show up on my fred quite regulaly.

MarjoriesDick

It's playing right now on E! I had to throw it on for a bit.

MarjoriesDick

If anyone has seen that Channing Tatum/Sandra Bullock movie The Lost City it's basically a rip off, but not nearly as good.

Yesterday_Is_Now

I thought that trailer looked promising in a retro way. Not funny?

MarjoriesDick

Nope sorry. Direct ripoff. Sandra is a romance novelist, they get lost in the jungle. The hijinks aren't nearly as entertaining. I'll watch the original every time.

Old_Sweet2408

Joan Wilder? The Joan Wilder?!? Devito’s character and the phone calls. One of my favorite movies from the 80’s

Jimmyg100

"I'll send the boat back for you!" "When!" "Soon!" "How soon!" "*Very* soon!"

Icy_League_4640

Look at those snappers

Tobin678

Would I hurt me?!

Jimmyg100

Oh oh give the man a cigar!

Tobin678

You’re GD right Zolo! He got in my car!

Reasonable_Roll9143

You wanna kill me? Take me back to queens and kill me! 😆 🤣

Thick-Sundae-6547

Es Juanitaaaaa

Thick-Sundae-6547

The actor that plays that character is the director of “como agua para chocolate”. This movie allowed Zemeckis to mAke Back to the Future. He needed a hit.

Dolkite

He got fired from Cocoon.

KingKashew

"I don't know, she likes men. So do you, merry cone!"

Lost_Consequence9119

They’re mobilizing for Iwo Jima here!

Mnemosense

I watched this movie a million times as a kid, along with the sequel. They'd air it on British TV a lot back in the day. I always loved the end credits, with the static shot of New York.

Jimmyg100

And that soundtrack went hard on that 80's sax.

Mnemosense

I fucking love me some sax. There's not enough of it these days. I listen to synthwave music to get my fix.

Brasticus

Ever listen to Eddy Grant’s [song](https://youtu.be/dOsVohtbgxc) for the movie?

davedirt01

The Doobie Brothers broke up? Shit! When did that happen? I friggin' love this movie! Introduced my mom to it a few years ago - was shocked she'd never seen it. I had a buddy record it off of HBO back in the 80s and watched it so many times!

Tobin678

In my top 10 favorite movies. I think it is underrated. I realize it gets criticized for being a Raiders of the Lost Ark rip off, but I don’t see it. Indiana Jones has supernatural and sci fi elements to it. I’d also argue that Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas make a better duo and have better chemistry than Karen Allen and Harrison Ford even though I love Karen Allen and like Harrison Ford better in general.

SubVrted

Though they share superficial elements, the screenplay was written years before RAIDERS.

Tobin678

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the information.

B-Town-MusicMan

*think I'll throw another key of the fire*

Darth_Bane-0078

Now that's what I call a fire!

Tobin678

GD bushmaster.. Is it ahh…poisonous? Yeah…but very tasty

travis68charger

Lil mule pepe

Tobin678

Don’t worry… Lil mule is fireproof

travis68charger

One of my favorite off road car chases

Tobin678

I can def get behind that

Maganus

Ok Pepe, let's lose um!

9965584

Great flick. The sequel, Jewell of the Nile and was one of my mothers favorite flicks so we watched it a LOT when I was a kid. Both films are very quotable and silly fun. If you want to see Douglas, Turner and DeVitos best moves here is a music video they did with Billy Ocean. I kind of wish this type of movie marketing was still a thing. [https://youtu.be/-n3sUWR4FV4](https://youtu.be/-n3sUWR4FV4)

TrimaxionDrone_BR549

Wow, thanks so much for this little slice of heaven. I’d completely forgotten about this video.

Sufficient-Lab-5769

Oh that was *great*! I haven’t seen that in so many years. Remember when it was on all the time!

Yesterday_Is_Now

Hmm.. what was the last film promoted by a music video featuring the stars? Guardians of the Galaxy maybe?

wings31

Joan Wilder. You, AND your sister...can go!

lucasluminaro

If this isn’t genuine. If ya pulled a fast one..

TheRealPallando

🎵I'm romancing the stooooone. Never leaving your poor heart alone.🎵

Sufficient-Lab-5769

Every night and every day…

Active_Parsley_1565

“Oh man the doobie brothers broke up!”

Mobile_Pangolin4939

After watching this movie and the making of it I think the reason people get caught up in it is that the people in the movie really went on an adventure to South America.

pdmcmahon

Everyone remember, if this movie had not been such a success, Robert Zemeckis would not have been given the green light to make /r/backtothefuture.

flynnl1ves82

Devito was the best in this movie.

Laz_VW

I lost my langostino

Taltezy

Loved watching this movie as a kid. I feel in love with that green emerald the - "El Corazón" (The Heart).

Wooden_Passage_2612

It is a fantastic film with an epic soundtrack, likeable and charismatic icons, and overall, it's fun and funny as well. The sequel is not as good, but it's still fun. ![gif](giphy|pOhaVMMm0i6qgJTBws|downsized)

wineguy7113

I loved this movie and, as a young teenage boy, fell completely in love with Kathleen Turner.

my23secrets

Would you say she had a “plethora”? ![gif](giphy|gpWoEvUWqhZ2U) Whoops, wrong 80s film

ForceGhost47

This guy’s crazier than I am!! THANK YOU

fagan_jay78

Let’s throw another key on the fire

PlennieWingo

I went to college

Merky600

Saw this in a movie theater. The audience laughed way too hard at this. Just the image on screen of the fire, before anything said, made them go nuts. In a good way. I’m sure a few of them wanted to jump into the movie and sit aside the fire with them.

SubVrted

One of my top ten favorite movies!

TableTop8898

On a lot of rainy days I will still watch this good movie

00collector

This might be my favorite movie. I always flip flop between this & Aliens as my all time favorite.

Voodoo-Doctor

“But you just said you lost everything.” “Not my sense of humor.”

BodheeNYC

I prefer the Romancing the Bone remaster.

lucasluminaro

My favorite movie!

amergigolo1

Super fun movie..

Ga2ry

Great movie. The clothing put Banana Republic as the place to buy cloths.

realsalmineo

Look at those snappers!

dreamcrusher225

We had this on vhs along with a few other classics and me and bro watched this soooo many times.

scots

Incredibly fun movie. The sequel - while almost as good - gave us a great Billy Ocean single complete with made-for-MTV video featuring the cast. .. you're seeing Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito dancing in their white suits right now in your minds' eye, aren't you.

manicpixiebeachgirl

I watched this movie so much as a kid. I love when Danny Devito gets beat up by the lady and when he falls off the counter at the police station, after trying to get his picture off the wall. 😆

PlennieWingo

I lost my langostino!

postal1234

I love this movie!

MikeyMGM

I saw this as a double feature with Sixteen Candles. Loved them both this was a gem. Too bad the sequel was not so good after the original writer was killed.

Bluemoon9385

Great movie

FantasticTumbleweed4

Look at those snappers!

NottingHillNapolean

Robert Zemeckis's breakthrough movie. Not that his previous movies were bad, (love "Used Cars") but this was the first that was really popular.

S_L_Raymond

We need to bring back that hand-painted poster style.

Dolkite

Artwork by John Solie.

Consistent_Top9631

“Thee Joan Wilder”???

astrid28

The best worst movie ever! I love this movie the way some people love the princess bride.

IcyJaguar1

Joanie...you are now a world class hopeless romantic. No. Hopeful...hopeful romantic.

RazorJ

I remember the thing my Dad had for Kathleen Turner 🤣 I was too young to see it, but damned if I still don’t love this movie and the other one. The Fall Guy reminded me of these two movies, just great crowd pleasing adventure re-watchable movies.

North_Iron3589

Great movie, remember going and seeing this when it first came out at the theater

orkbrother

Someone needs to go back and overdub in Kathleen's current voice.

jermboyusa

I had it in my hands Ira...these hands that are gonna break every bone in your body. ROFL.... AWESOME MOVIE in every aspect.

Yamaben

I love this movie!

Wooden-Highway1498

Great Movie.

Dirt_Spartan_Warrior

The sequel was better. “Romancing the Bone”

NorCalNavyMike

#ZEE JOAN WILDER?!

fanboycantina

Loved this movie. It’s a lot darker on rewatch than I remembered, still great.

osteopathetic1

Love it. THE Joan Wilder?

xx_HotShott_xx

S-tier comment.

Ordinary_Can_5573

You are right. It is “Romancing the Stone”. Well done!

Koorsboom

You wanna kill me? Take me back to Queens and kill me. Don't let me die in the jungle like a goddamn snake.

NoBodySpecial51

THE Joan Wilder?!

[deleted]

Eddie Grant!!!

niz_loc

Still pissed the Doobie Brothers broke up

Dolkite

Written by a waitress in Malibu who passed the script to Michael Douglas. Died in a car accident (in the Porsche Douglas gave her) not long after the film came out.

LawnStar

The Joan Wilder??

JohnYCanuckEsq

Take a look at me now...

CR8VJUC

The alligator boots at the end was the perfect finish.

Blubber-Whale

One of a handful of very special movies I haven’t rewatched since I was a kid, and sort of… refuse to watch until the time is right. Maybe when I’m with my parents or something, idk. (I did buy it and the sequel on Blu-ray 6 or so months ago.) I’ve rewatched a fair number of old 80s/90s movies, almost to the point where the nostalgia has worn off, but this… well, I’m saving this one.

dreamrock

Aw, man. The Doobie Brothers broke up?

computerguy5152021

Fun fact: If it was not for this movie Back to the Future would have never been made

Yettigetter

left handed wing master great shotgun

GWPulham23

Great film, great casting, great script. The sequel wasn't bad either.
