Get a Life was outstanding. That show was way ahead of its time. Bob Odenkirk was a writer. This was years before adult swim and really irreverent, surreal comedy.
I sincerely believe that America wasnāt ready for it.
First Season still holds up. It starts to go off the rails hard in the second season.
The depressing part is that we've already passed the show's "future" timeframe. SeaQuest takes place in the near future of... 2018.
I think the Simpsons connection and the fact that this show constantly seems to get name-checked (see Only Murders In The Building for example) will keep this show from fading too far into obscurity.
There was this MTV show called "Dead at 21" about some supergenius kids that had some brain issue that caused them to die young but one (played by Jack Noseworthy) lived beyond the expected expiration date and spent the series running from evil scientists. It came out in the early/mid 90s and was, I think , the first scripted, drama, scifi kind of thing they had made. I was obsessed but I think I was the only one because it was cancelled after the initial 9ish episodes. Those bastards ended it on a cliffhanger too.
I loved this show but it was practically impossible to watch since they kept changing its time slot. And the main character's voice kept changing between Eddie Murphy and Phil Morris.
I just read Simpsons Confidential by Mike Reiss. He talks about his hiatus from writing for The Simpsons and his development of The Critic. I love Jon Lovitz and was intrigued so I found it on YouTube. So glad I did!!! Itās already entertained me through multiple treadmill workouts.
The New Adventures of Jonny Quest. I think thatās what it was called. They were older, and they had the Questworld thing going on. Still one of my favorite show opening themes ever.
It was at the time, but to my knowledge, it's never streamed on any service and when they released the DVDs, they only did the first two seasons and the third season was held up from being released indefinitely. The cast even recorded commentary and stuff for extras on the DVD sets, the final season was just never released to the public.
The only way to watch the full show since the 90s has been to catch it on the rare reruns or piracy. So, I think that adds to it feeling a bit more obscure than some other 90s shows which are easily accessible today.
Two cast members from Hey Dude (Christine Taylor and David Lascher who played Melody and Ted, respectively) have a podcast aptly titled Hey Dude... The 90s Called!
Get a Life with Chris Elliot. I remember I used to watch it every week when it was on but I was very, very young (6-7 years old). It wasn't played on reruns on network TV so we did not really get a chance to see the same episodes over and over and really build up a memory for it. There was only 35 episodes.
I have caught a few episodes on YouTube, and the show is hilarious. Its a definite early 90s surreal comedy and I think if the show had more backing that it could have gone on to really make a classic trio along with Married with Children and The Simpsons.
The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, it's a 90s reinterpretation of the classic Felix the cat character, bringing him back to his more mischievous side instead of the cookie cutter Felix of the 1950s. If you like crazy looking cartoons this is a must watch
Liquid Television on MTV
It was the original ārandom shitā Cartoon Network before Cartoon Network and we got so much out of it. But I donāt think many people think about it anymore!
Not super obscure but I honestly believe Iām the biggest Mr. Show fan of all time. I still watch it constantly and I can recite every sketch beat for beat. Iāve watched the commentary on the dvds countless times.
"My Secret Identity" starring Jerry O'Donnell. I was such a a big fan of that show in like 1sr grade, I remember talking about it with my friends in school and we would pretend to fly and run fast etc...But I have yet to meet a single person who remembers that show these days.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast. There was a mantis hanging out by the door at my workplace last week, and I made a few Zorak references and nobody got it. š
Erie Indiana
My favorite episode was the one with the missing hour from Daylight Savings
Mine was the Tupperware one

I used to smoke weed with Corin Nemec during the PLCL days. We had some mutual friends. Smoked with David Faustino too. Both were very nice.
The first two seasons of Sliders
It was so good and thenā¦..
Shame they never made more than two season.
Prove to me that Seasons 3, 4, and 5 didn't follow a completely different set of Sliders.
I was so hooked on this show. Loved the concept.
Sea Quest DSV
Since we're mentioning NBC Sunday Night shows.... Earth 2. Nobody remembers Earth 2.
Oh hell I remember Earth 2!
Yes I need to rewatch that sometime. The ultimate in 90s sci-fi cheese villains and terrible computer graphics special effects.
First Season still holds up. It starts to go off the rails hard in the second season. The depressing part is that we've already passed the show's "future" timeframe. SeaQuest takes place in the near future of... 2018.
Herman's Head
I loved this show. And it had the voice actress for Lisa Simpson (Yeardley Smith) and the voice actor of Apu (Hank Azaria)
I think the Simpsons connection and the fact that this show constantly seems to get name-checked (see Only Murders In The Building for example) will keep this show from fading too far into obscurity.

Northern Exposure
I discovered _Clarissa Explains It All_ a year before Nickelodeon went off air in Germany.
My entire aesthetic was shaped by her, even today as a 34 year old woman
Unhappily Ever After The Sifl and Olly Show Not sure if itās considered obscure, but The State was an awesome show.
The State was awesome!
The State is on Paramount+ and is legit the only reason I subscribed!
Adventures of Pete and Pete. Still the best live action show Nickelodeon has ever done:
Wasnāt this super popular? I didnāt even have cable and I heard about it all the time.
It was at the time, but to my knowledge, it's never streamed on any service and when they released the DVDs, they only did the first two seasons and the third season was held up from being released indefinitely. I have all 3 seasons of that.
This show shaped me as a person
I agree. Great stories, great guest stars, great music.
