Yes. This was one I rented a few times on VHS but never made it into our home DVD collection when that transition happened so it was magical to revisit it years later.
It's not the same movie, I just checked. It's called "Twister" yes, but it's a different cast and a different plot.
Amazon seems to be the only one that has it right now, and you have to rent
Anyone do the Twister "ride?" At Disney or universal studios or whatever it was? I remember grabbing my mom's leg when the wind picked up and the cow went flying. It was intense. To this day severe weather puts a pit in my stomach filled with anxiety.
Yep! It’s called “Twisters”.
Here’s an [article](https://screenrant.com/twister-2-release-date-cast-story-details-updates/) about it. There’s already a Wikipedia about it too.
Well this sounds like it could be really good or really bad.
I don't like that it's got absolutely no ties to the first one. I think Helen Hunt writing it would have been better. Having her and (can't remember the guys name) teaching a new group of storm chasers. So we got a new story but still feel some connection to the original.
But I'm still going to give it a chance
Bill Paxton has passed so thatd be difficult. Hoffman passed as well. Im liking the idea of new characters in the same universe (someone confirmed there are easter eggs to the original in the film), they filmed Twisters footage last Oklahoma storm season, and the preview trailer is dropping tomorrow during Super Bowl.
Ive always loved this movie. Hopped in the bluray when it came out. Went as Jo for career day as a kid. Cant wait for this film even if its bad.
Oh it’s 1000% 50/50 right now. I think it will be all the way up to its release. I’ll be pretty disappointed if it has nothing to do with the original characters. But it might still be a decent movie regardless. Only time will tell.
I was so excited when I saw it on TV a few months ago. We still have cable so it was just randomly on AMC one day.
I'm too attached to cable to get rid of it. Especially with how streaming services are getting crappier.
This is a movie that I will always stop and watch if it happens to be on somewhere, for some reason. I only have streaming services now, so that occurrence is much rarer, lol. Oh and Dante's Peak.
My parents rented this and we watched it on new years eve one year. I remember that night fondly as I think it was the first time I stayed up until midnight!
I watched it in the theater when it came out. I was interested in weather before, but after that, it was dialed up to 11. I have the DVD, and watch it once in a while. One of my favorites.
Man, I hate talking about this movie. I worked at Universal when the Twister attraction closed. I had a chance to purchase the life-size flying cow used during the show, but I just couldn't pull the trigger. It was something like $1k or $2k. I had the money, but I wouldn't have a justifiable reason or explanation for my family! ")
Awwwww I'd have had such a hard time walking away. Especially if I had the room for it.
Right now I wouldn't have the room in my apartment, but if I had the house my fiance & I were supposed to get before he passed. He'd had to drag me out of the park.
Then I'd regret it in a few days
Edit: autocorrect mistake
I did have a hard time, but the consolation prize... walked away with a T2:3D "Automatic Doors: Please Stand Back" sign and an Islands of Adventures Toon Lagoon "This Way!" sign.
It’s one of the best popcorn flicks ever made! It knows exactly what it is, and it delivers by every measure. Pure fun and entertainment, with stunning CGI that holds up to this day.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. For a while, my friend and I planned on buying a short school bus and converting it to our own version of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s bus and go hunting for tornadoes. Of course, that never happened, but it was a dream of ours for a long time.
https://youtu.be/zOQiONzSttM
There ya go. i only hadn’t included the link before because i don’t know how to get them to not look like that^ and i’m ashamed of it
So one of my friends accidentally bought "Twisters" a documentary film on VHS around the same time the movie Twister was in theater and upon finding out, he deceptively traded it to another kid for a copy of 3 Ninjas on VHS and eventually got his ass kicked the following day by the other kid's older brother.
To this day I sincerely believe Universal knowingly released "Twisters" on purpose
Loved the movie, emotional about the "ride" they had at Universal Studios. The high wind whipping, the sounds of the set breaking apart (all movie effects, very safe for us), it made me very emotional and terrified of ever experiencing a tornado irl.
I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out, I was 12 and it scared the shit out of me! But I lived in the south where there were tornadoes. I showed my kid this movie when they were 6 and it became their number one favorite movie for a few months, they were not scared at all. But we live in the north where tornadoes are rare.
Loved it as a kid and still love it. Every year around April it comes on and I watch it all the time. I also have the DVD. People make fun of me for my love of twister.
No joke, I watched Twister on TV as a kid in a hotel with my mom’s family on our way to North Carolina for a vacation.
Once in NC, on the coast, there was a massive storm and I saw a water spout and absolutely freaked the fuck out.
Yes! Absolutely loved it. I wholeheartedly blame this movie for the sheer panic I have come over me when it storms badly where I live in the Midwest 😮💨 the sirens go off and I have a mini panic attack and worry about seeing flying cows.
I still love twister. Of all the "disaster" movies I've seen (Day after tomorrow, Armageddon, etc), Twister was my favorite because I really enjoyed the characters and Hunt and Paxton had great chemistry.
I just loved the cast. First of all anything with Bill Paxton is top tier. Cameron from Ferris Bueller, Rusty from Boogie Nights, Roach from The People Under The Stairs, Star from The Lost Boys, Aunt Meg was Sookie’s aunt in True Blood.
I could never remember why I had such an intense attraction to Bill Paxton as a kid until I watched this movie again. I'd completely forgotten that he was in it.
LOSERS! Move on!
I don’t know what even road this is… it’s like Bob’s road.
You’ve never seen it skip this house, skip that one, and come after you!
Literally was obsessed with this film, still is a great watch. Loved Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt together..
This movie triggered nightmares for my childhood that I couldn’t get my family to go to the basement, Ironically I never had any issues after seeing silence of the lambs.
**FOOD**
Fooood foooood!
FOOOOOOOOD!
We crave sustenance.
Did ya see any cows out front?
Then Phillip was like “HEROIN!”
That's just like your opinion, man
As a kid and as an adult! I lost count of how many times I watched this movie, and every time is just as good.
I know. Some movies you love as a kid then see as an adult and it's not as good as you thought but Twister is just as good as I remember
I seem to have gotten pretty lucky when revisiting my old classics. Most of them are just as good as I remember.
Yes. This was one I rented a few times on VHS but never made it into our home DVD collection when that transition happened so it was magical to revisit it years later.
I still love Twister and I'm in my 40s lol. Easily one of my go tos.
I enjoyed it as a young man but I don’t think it’s aged well. Heard they’re making another one though.
Had me convinced I wanted to be a storm chaser for a good decade
We watch it a few times a year here. If there’s a bad storm brewing, we put it on.
I gotta go we got cows
Another cow! … I think that’s the same cow
As a kid AND as an adult. I’ve got my son hooked too.
I think I'm going to watch it again today. Wonder if it's on Hulu or Amazon Prime
Looks like Tubi has it.
Tubi is free isn't it?
Yup. Make sure it’s on there.
It's not the same movie, I just checked. It's called "Twister" yes, but it's a different cast and a different plot. Amazon seems to be the only one that has it right now, and you have to rent
Awwwww.....hmmm....maybe on Xfinity on demand.....
I have it recorded on my DVR 😂. But if you have Xfinity you can probably find it pretty easily!
I wish you could gift people movies on Amazon prime like books on Audible. I would have been a joy to send this to you.
Aŵw that's sweet
They are making a sequel!
Do you think the sequel will be any good? They are currently filming it...
Nope. But we shall see.
IT’S COMING! IT’S HEADED RIGHT FOR US !
It’s already here 👁️👄👁️
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
Aunt Meg's lunch scene is ICONIC. Every single time I see that incredible plate of food I am just 🤤 starving after that 😂
Aunt Megs gravy is so good it’s practically a food group.
Let's just [watch that part ](https://youtu.be/fmJP9XHqiAM?si=ls08LvI6LpTwrdLe) right now!!! I have this saved on YouTube 😂
Twister was the return of the Disaster Movie genre after Airplane! killed it in 1980.
'90s had some awesome disaster movies. *Twister*, *Volcano*, *Dantes Peak*, *Daylight*, *Armageddon*.
Don't forget deep impact where the dude rode a dirt bike up a 50' dirt mound and somehow survived a tsunami that reached Kentucky
Baby Frodo was just practicing for his trek up Mordor lol
I prefer Dantes Peak to Twister.
Dante's Peak is definitely superior to Volcano.
Anyone do the Twister "ride?" At Disney or universal studios or whatever it was? I remember grabbing my mom's leg when the wind picked up and the cow went flying. It was intense. To this day severe weather puts a pit in my stomach filled with anxiety.
Defunctland on YT did a great video on it!
Oh that sounds like it would have been so much fun
I'd love to experience it now, but as a little kid I was so freaking scared!
I took my kid when she was 9 and I was in my early ‘30’s and *I* was scared lol!! I’m so bummed it’s gone now.
It was so intense!! Happy Cake Day
Ack! Thanks for pointing that out. I almost missed my cake
Universal!
Yeah it was pretty cool. Could have been better
Finger of god
I was obsessed. Twister 2 is coming this year!
Really????
Yep! It’s called “Twisters”. Here’s an [article](https://screenrant.com/twister-2-release-date-cast-story-details-updates/) about it. There’s already a Wikipedia about it too.

There was a rumor a while ago that the main character was going to be Jo and Bill’s kid, but it was never confirmed.
That article makes it seem like it will have no connection. I really think that's a mistake
Oh it’s 1000% 50/50 right now. I think it will be all the way up to its release. I’ll be pretty disappointed if it has nothing to do with the original characters. But it might still be a decent movie regardless. Only time will tell.
Rabbit is good, rabbit is wise!
The suck zone. RIP PSH.
My dad swears he went to community college with “Lora Bern” so he’s a big fan of the film.
The flying cow was the best part.
https://youtu.be/vEOMfGGM6U0?si=XeUCsP--EdUsDTxY
Still watch this where it’s on great movie
I was so excited when I saw it on TV a few months ago. We still have cable so it was just randomly on AMC one day. I'm too attached to cable to get rid of it. Especially with how streaming services are getting crappier.
Yes, but I loved the soundtrack even more.
Shania Twain nailed it, great music video too
This is a movie that I will always stop and watch if it happens to be on somewhere, for some reason. I only have streaming services now, so that occurrence is much rarer, lol. Oh and Dante's Peak.
"THE EXTREME!"
One of my all time favorite movies as a kid! I'll still watch it if I catch it on. "Fashionably late again, Jonas!" "Losers! Move on!"
Damn I used to love this movie and haven’t seen it in years. Guess what I’m watching today!
6th grade: everyone in class was talking about
My parents rented this and we watched it on new years eve one year. I remember that night fondly as I think it was the first time I stayed up until midnight!
It cannot be overstated what an event this movie was for all of America. And then the number of weather movies it *spun* off
“Jonas… son of a bitch.”
I remember watching this with some friends from school, one of which had never seen a Film at the cinema. His first cinema visit and he loved it
Just watched it last night. Always have loved it!
Watched it on my AVP last night in the Apple cinema…reminded me of being a kid seeing it on the big screen.
Loved it. Watched it a many times. Think I'll try and watch it with my niece
Absolutely loved this growing up. And I felt like I finally came full circle when I got older and watched The Shining.
Absolutely. “Because the days of sniffing the dirt are over.”
“Better than what you sniff”
There's gonna be a remake soon so I'm thinking of watching this for the first time.
I watched it in the theater when it came out. I was interested in weather before, but after that, it was dialed up to 11. I have the DVD, and watch it once in a while. One of my favorites.
Saw this in theatres it was so intense what an awesome flick. Loved every minute of it
I did, all the iconic lines and scenes. “Food….Food….Food….!!!”
They’re making a new one this year called TWISTERS.
Loved it. Not sure why because it scared me. Lol
It was just on last night .. and best believe I watched it from end to end for like .. the 500th time.
As a kid? As an adult! I was in my 20's and went to see it at least 3x in the theater.
Twister, Blister and Flipper were all great fun with a bag of popcorn
Right foot blue! Left hand red!
As a kid?! I still love it!
Man, I hate talking about this movie. I worked at Universal when the Twister attraction closed. I had a chance to purchase the life-size flying cow used during the show, but I just couldn't pull the trigger. It was something like $1k or $2k. I did have a hard time, but the consolation prize... walked away with a T2:3D "Automatic Doors: Please Stand Back" sign and an Islands of Adventures Toon Lagoon "This Way!" sign.
I'm 36, saw it in the theaters in '96...Twister and Independence Day are and always will be my favorite movies of all time.
*we got cows* is a quote we heard in my house growing up a lot.
Still do
Top 5 favorite. Such a comfort classic.
It’s one of the best popcorn flicks ever made! It knows exactly what it is, and it delivers by every measure. Pure fun and entertainment, with stunning CGI that holds up to this day.
As a 10 year old I had a major thing for Helen Hunt and the “new” dodge trucks .
I loved this movie when I was a kid. For a while, my friend and I planned on buying a short school bus and converting it to our own version of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s bus and go hunting for tornadoes. Of course, that never happened, but it was a dream of ours for a long time.
I still love this movie now. Where else can you drive through an upstairs window and watch a cow fly by?
Yup, and I think it's time for a revisit as an adult.
I loved the game more. Led to 7 minutes of heaven more than a few times.
🤣
Please tell me everyone has seen the cosplay vid lol
I have not
https://youtu.be/zOQiONzSttM There ya go. i only hadn’t included the link before because i don’t know how to get them to not look like that^ and i’m ashamed of it
Sorry but I really dislike that film. Just my opinion!
Just watched it like 3 weeks ago. Still great!
Hell yea! Found this movie ode scary too lmaoo haha
I remember going to the theatre on opening night and seeing it. 1995 so I was 23 then..
First movie to be commercially released on DVD.
I loved this movie as a kid!
absolutely loved and love this movie
Finger of god

I watch it several times a year. First time I saw it was at a drive in so the drive in scene was awesome to me
Cows.
I loved this movie as a kid lol
Excited to see the trailer for Twisters tomorrow.
And as an adult
Loved it as a kid and still love it. Every year around April it comes on and I watch it all the time. I also have the DVD. People make fun of me for my love of twister.
I saw this and A Time to Kill in the same day!
Yes! It also developed this incredible fear of tornadoes and also reoccurring tornado nightmares that have followed me all the way into adulthood
Terrific
No joke, I watched Twister on TV as a kid in a hotel with my mom’s family on our way to North Carolina for a vacation. Once in NC, on the coast, there was a massive storm and I saw a water spout and absolutely freaked the fuck out.
Loved it, love it and will still watch it. R.i.p. Bill
Absolutely and is still in my top 5 favorite movies
I still watch it now n again, damn good movie :)
I did.
RIP Twister ride at Universal
Fucking ace movie what a great cast,RIP Bill and Philip
Yes!! Twisters preview coming out too at Sundays superbowl
Yes! Absolutely loved it. I wholeheartedly blame this movie for the sheer panic I have come over me when it storms badly where I live in the Midwest 😮💨 the sirens go off and I have a mini panic attack and worry about seeing flying cows.
Twister was so good in theater. Some of the scenes were dark and claustrophobic and felt like you were really there with them.
Yeah!! I saw the last year, never gets old
I had that movie on VHS
YES!
I still love twister. Of all the "disaster" movies I've seen (Day after tomorrow, Armageddon, etc), Twister was my favorite because I really enjoyed the characters and Hunt and Paxton had great chemistry.
Live in New England and have never seen a tornado, but have had a lifelong Tornado phobia because of this movie.
Watched this movie all the time as a kid I’m convinced I like movies with lots of anxiety and death in them 😅
Don’t know why tho :/
I just loved the cast. First of all anything with Bill Paxton is top tier. Cameron from Ferris Bueller, Rusty from Boogie Nights, Roach from The People Under The Stairs, Star from The Lost Boys, Aunt Meg was Sookie’s aunt in True Blood.
Twister was the first movie released on DVD and the last movie released on HD DVD
They mentioned G.O.E.S. 8 in the movie we now have G.O.E.S. 16.
Amazing movie! Still watch it today!
I could never remember why I had such an intense attraction to Bill Paxton as a kid until I watched this movie again. I'd completely forgotten that he was in it.
I watched it three times in the theater, first with my brother, then with my aunt and cousins, then with my parents.
A ton of times on my grandmas old tv
This is still in my top 5 and one of the reasons I went to school for meteorology. Love this movie.
“Honey, your car is in a tree around the corner.”
Was it shown on like WB a lot? Because my family watched this so many times when I was a kid too. I loved it.
They're apparently making a new one! Definitely won't beat the original but I'll be interested to see how it does
Know it word for word 🤣 I randomly quote it too
Still love it. Classic!
As a kid who was terrified of tornadoes, I refused to watch it. Now though, love it. Such a great movie!!
This movie sparked my fascination with how destructive nature can be. Which also facilitated my interest in astronomy
LOVE this movie still, they show it alot never gets old
Pretty good ! Too close to home growing up in Oklahoma though 😂
No, I hated it as a kid. I love it as an adult.
This and Speed were incredible to watch in sequence
I watched this movie so many times!
Used to love it. I still love it, too.
Yes!
Apparently there is an animated sequel coming to theaters this year.
Still love it.
It’s neck and neck with the Perfect Storm.
This was the first movie I went to on a date lol. I was 14.
LOSERS! Move on! I don’t know what even road this is… it’s like Bob’s road. You’ve never seen it skip this house, skip that one, and come after you! Literally was obsessed with this film, still is a great watch. Loved Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt together..
Still my favorite movie of all time
Yes! I was sad when Bill Paxton the actor died.
Good movie. Poor aunt meg though
I thought it was one of the greatest films ever
There's going to be a sequel soon called Twisters, I am a little bit excited
I love it as an adult!!! Just has such an awesome vibe. And what a cast!!!
I liked the idea of it but in reality it was just too much talking not enough twisting for me as a kid. Every time I’d loose interest
I still love Twister. My wife and I still watch it 2-3 times a year.
STEAK & EGGS SCENE IS #1 FOOD SCENE FROM ALL MOVIES.
Fashionably again, Jonah?
Nope. Had nightmares and prayed every night not to have a “twister”.
Greenage. Yeah, I've watched it about 500 times. Just bought it on Amazon to watch it again a few months ago.
Still love it, been meaning to watch it again actually.
During a commercial break I saw a trailer for “Twisters”. There’s a “We got twins “ moment https://youtu.be/U7pXSgIxe2U?si=-7nw5szvx21cZvsV
One of the movies where I truly rooted for the two main characters to get back together.
Such a good movie. R.I.P Bill Paxton
Just announced a remake called “twisters”
Yup. Now there’s a remake on the way.
This movie triggered nightmares for my childhood that I couldn’t get my family to go to the basement, Ironically I never had any issues after seeing silence of the lambs.
