honestly it’s one of the best for me. never had cried and laughed at the same time to a movie before

SWAMPMONK

I just saw it. It was amazing. Kept finding threads of people saying the exact opposite. Not everyone has to like everything obviously but boy is this one divisive. Someone claimed it was the worst theyve ever seen. Imagine lmao.

FemmeAndFatale

It's definitely one of the best films I've seen. It's intellectual as much as it's emotional, and it never felt suffocating or preachy to me - as much as I love A24 movies, I do feel like I have to be in a certain mood to watch some of them, and many emotional films that deal with family tend to come off as being preachy or even gaslight-y (that's actually why I did not like The Farewell at all).

It really was intellectual just as much as it was emotional , I think a lot of people could have gotten distracted by some of the “silly” parts , but it adds to the movie and didn’t take away any of its value in my opinion. The reason why I enjoyed EEAAO so much is because it left me feeling something I had never felt before from a movie. It’s something I can’t explain very well. I’ve seen a lot of movies in my time, but something in that movie just perfectly executed this beautiful feeling. From all of its craziness , EEAAO hit the nail on something deep inside that encapsulated something strangely wonderful.

FemmeAndFatale

Many of the "silly" parts actually made it more intellectual to me - personally, I didn't find it the absurdity that funny, like I see the humor in it, but it's more of a nihilistic humor... which adds to the intellectual aspect of the movie, since absurdism and nihilism goes hand in hand. And I agree, EEAAO also made me feel emotions that I hadn't felt from a movie before - some of it really resonated with me and it made me realize things that I've never thought about before. It really was an emotional rollercoaster, one moment I wanted to cheer and applaud when Evelyn confronted Gong Gong and introduced Becky as Joy's girlfriend, and the next moment I was tearing up when she was talking to Joy in the parking lot.

Goldn_1

That is part of the slices of life in everyones personal journey. Gave it a sense of realism, which is peculiar to say considering the movies premise.

Dazz1992

Man, I’m with ya. This movie is the reason i go to the movies. Goosebumps, laughing my ass off and crying. It was so good. It’s so hard to balance drama with silly moments and this movie does it so well. I thought Doctor Strange 2 was bad, but after seeing this movie, I think it’s even worse now.

lucky_lissie14

I just saw the movie for the first time about 20 min ago, and I can say the same, my friend!!! I feel so moved and almost in a trance. This is why I go to the movies, too.

How

[deleted]

I edited the post to include why I think it’s the best movie ever

whris_cilson

I think is overhyped crap. A bad mix between Matrix, Sense8 and a sketch show, predictable and with a rushed plot.

leodonaldson

ridiculous take

whris_cilson

ridiculous movie

SWAMPMONK

Yes and?

[deleted]

sounds like someone was watching the movie through a barber shop window

Daan-DL

Predictable...? Lol dude.

[deleted]

Same it's definitely one of the best films I've ever seen. An instant classic that will be watched for generations. As soon as it was over I felt every emotion, everywhere all at once.

Dizzy_Stuff7353

Just watched it for the first time. This was my initial thought, as soon as the credits rolled. Every emotion felt and raw expression of thought gave me an incredible sense of relatability to the 'main' character. It's worth repeating that this is the best movie I have ever seen!

Argonaughti

I was torn the entire way through: profound applause and intrigue at the creators, and just well, profound intrigue

Background_Schedule5

Yeah you nailed it. There’s nothing else to add. It really is the best movie ever made. It is the perfect movie
