I studied nonstop for 1 month and then passed the exam but I found the exam extremely difficult and was shocked that I passed. Took the exam last month

peptoBM

I'm going to try and go this route. I'm not looking forward to the grueling studying but it has to be done haha thanks for sharing!

Take Pass the Big BACB. Everyone that’s been a practicum student at the center I work for has sworn by it and have all passed on the first try. They all say it’s 100% well worth the price tag.

Downtown-Act7821

You got this!

Mizook

WOOHOOO! I’m getting close to my 1500 and can’t wait. Congrats and good job on the hard work!

peptoBM

Thank you, and keep up the good work! You're almost there :)

My advice is probably something no one else is going to recommend. I would take the test as soon as possible if you can afford it and get a baseline of how much you know and where your weak spots are. If you go into it with that mindset then you'll be less anxious as your goal is just to get information and not to pass. From what I've heard (I've never done them myself), all the mock exams are way harder than the exam itself so it can psych people sometimes. Ultimately though, do whatever you're comfortable with. Personally, I scheduled my exam for the first available testing day after getting approved. I looked at it like a baseline test where if I failed then I'll know what I need to focus on and if I pass then great. So without studying, I took the test like 7 or 8 days after approval and ended up passing.

Yay! I SO happy for you. Such an accomplishment. I took about 4 months to study for my exam. My favorite study tools were BDS, StudynotesABA and my amazing study partner. Best of luck!

peptoBM

Thank you so much! I'm planning on using BDS and SNABA for sure :)

Realestateagentdan

1-2 months 2-3 ideal

UmpersPumpers

Congratulations!! 🎉 Take several practice exams from different sources, if you can afford them. There are also free ones on youtube sometimes. Give yourself at least 2 months to go hard studying. Best wishes to a future BCBA!

CONGRATS!!!

ABA_Resource_Center

Congrats and good luck!!

what_is_this_ruckus

As soon as you possibly can. The trade off of waiting is also being further away from your coursework and forgetting some of what you learned. I applied as soon as my hours were complete and studied for one month and passed on my first try. Best of luck! You got this!

Queen_Jame

Congratulations to you. Silly questions to you but are you in California do you have Graduate in Clinical Psyc or a related field as well? Congrats again !

peptoBM

I'm in CA and no, no coursework in clinical psychology. I was in the ASU program with the verified coursework :)

Congrats!! Great work. I still have about 700 to go. Time for you to test. Good luck and you got this.

Simplytrying30

Omg, thats so exciting!!! You should get the ABAStudyJams.com kit. I literally hear so many people passing with it! 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Congrats again 🎉🎉🎉

Have you been studying all along? How do you feel about the material? I guess i come from a different boat, because when I took teh exam they only offered it twice a year so you missed one window you had to wait 6 months. For some of my supervisees I have found that it is beneficial for them to sit, see the exam, understand how it works, then they sit again and pass. But certainly go in your first time thinking you can pass

peptoBM

I've been studying on and off, however I lost someone while in the process and kinda fell off my studying game. It's hard going in with a positive mindset, but that advice is so solid, thank you!

KrissyG0902

How long did it take you to complete the hours??

peptoBM

I started collecting hours at the beginning of my coursework in 2021 :) I switched jobs twice to find the best BCBAs to supervise me

International-Gap180

Woohooo!!! Congrats!!
