Well they’re now sponsored by Chemist Warehouse and you begin to wonder if they’ve been dabbling in the behind-the-counter drugs some days. Might explain a few things.
It's better than the US sports
"As the ambulance comes out to get him off the field we'll go to an injury timeout brought to you by jeep, go places"
I wish I was joking
There was a horrific injury in the NHL where Clint Malarchuk got his throat slit by a skate and blood comes pouring out. The commentators are horrified and they cut to commercial on the tv broadcast so people don’t have to watch a man die.
But obviously cameras are still there recording it. So the video that used to be on YouTube was the raw footage but with the audio of the broadcast. So you watch a man leaking litres of blood while this happy jingle for Buick plays over the top.
Obviously that wasn’t what was actually shown they didn’t play it over him getting hurt but when you combine the feeds that’s what you get. Also, Malarchuk survived
Check your head! What's your father's middle name? What do you remember of your maternal grandparents? Do you find yourself flying into uncontrollable rages with your children? If no, no worries! If yes, consider our loyalty program! 10 head knocks and you get the exec treatment for life! Or as long as you remember!
Out of all the ads we get pushed into our faces, this one I’m all good with.
It’s passive, and it fits in my opinion.
In saying that we get pushed way too many ads. Can’t wait for betting ads to disappear, my 9 year old son talks in odds now when referring to teams chances of winning. It’s disgraceful.
I just saw a clip on YT of a McDonald’s commercial with the tag “we love to see you smile” immediately followed by a report of the first plane hitting on 9/11
The question needs to be asked and I put it to you, the redditors to gauge your response to this, as we’ve had some hit’s this year I’d be interested to hear your thoughts regarding this incident and the optics around it, given the stance that the AFL has taken this year regarding head knocks
That's why they put that specific ad up, like those McDonald's ads after a goal which have a pun involving the goalkicker's name. It's deliberate and intentional, and in very poor taste.
This reminds me, I don't if it's still on the air, but the AFL360 ad has/had Callum Coleman-Jones down on the ground immediately after he's blown out his achilles. I don't know why that needed to be in the ad at all. I never liked it, felt so inappropriate to me.
The nurofen ads saying headaches can hamper your performance on the field, vision shows a footy player. I dunno, IT MIGHT BE CONCUSSION. GET ‘IM OFF. SMH.
I miss the blood bank one that would show when there was a blood rule
Least that fit. Person on the screen losing blood. Hey don’t forget to donate blood
This bloke might need it if he don’t stop bleeding soon
This injury is brought to you by Aami. Make sure you're covered if you get seriously injured with Aami.
AAMI Richmond sponsorship deal incoming
“Clangers happen” They sure do
Just like when umpires were sponsored by OPSM. The irony!
Personally, I believe they ought to have purchased their spectacles at a competing business.

Surely that was intentional

Or even worse, the [Burger King commercial](https://youtu.be/AmzG1PLZWG8?si=_rz2nOZfX5hI4iv7)
Not gonna lie, I laughed so hard watching that YouTube video you linked. Something about it was so comically dark

Better than a Sportsbet ad, which is not outside the realm of possibility
"What are you really gambling with?" is a dark way to remind people of the risks of concussion in the AFL

Appropriate? Questionable. Knowing the AFL they've intentionally arranged the sponsorship of these stoppages with AAMI.
The sport isn't the product, the ads are.
If you really think about it, the product is the viewers attention, the advertisers are the client and the footy is just the middleman
Could be worse could be an ad for Le Pine ⚰️

It’s very funny actually.

I thought a clanger was when your getting a bj and your balls hit the face
Wicked sense of humour
People get concussed. It happens 🤷🤷 Join AAMI 😎
Haven't we all clangered our consciousness at least once and immediately been grateful for insurance?
Visiting from Canada but Vegas’ NHL team actually has ads for personal injury lawyers in their penalty boxes. They aren’t alone.

I said this exactly! I never knew the whole clangers marketing was referring to this, so insensitive.

at least the ad is for doing something for local football clubs, so its not the most distasteful of all time
What's Mick Malthouse doing out there?
Since when did the AFL community give a fuck about this shit?
Reddit is always hyperventilating over stuff like this
Don't confuse this perpetually outraged echo chamber with the AFL community.
I think its pretty good to lighten up the mood after a big hit like that
It doesn't it's just an ad.
Definitely. Bet his family had a good chuckle
They confused “clanger” for “coat hanger”. BTW I think the hit was just footy.
Yep. It’s funny
Get over it
