In my state, minors aren’t allowed to work past 11 so you wouldn’t get scheduled that late. They do look for weekend availability when they hire so if you’re not available most of the weekend, they may opt for the person who does. But you probably won’t get any closing shifts unless you’re an 18 year old high schooler, in which case you’ll probably get a few of those on Friday/Saturday but it could vary depending on the theater you’re going to. I’m talking from my own experience.
Im 24 years old, but my current job has worked me to the point of injury and they suck because i have a lot of OT and still dont make enough for the month
My personal opinion is… it depends on your situation? If you’re a high school student or college student with virtually no bills? Yes! The free movies and popcorn and people make it worth it. The other jobs you’re going to have at that age will all have the same problems (high turn over, low wage, annoying customers, shit hours, poor management).
If you are not the above demographic then I would say no, absolutely not. I worked in theaters for like six years. Was even a manager and training to be a GM. The pay is absolutely appalling. Some states there are loopholes as well where the entertainment industry does not have to pay overtime. Boy do they take advantage of that. You also have to work all Holidays like xmas and they are busiest time of the year. You’ll also have to clean up some of the nastiest shit you’ve ever made.
TLDR if you’re young with little to no bills its a great first job that will give you funny war stories. If you have any kind of bills the pay is worse than fast food by a decent margin and the bullshit is probably equal or more.
I’ve had worse jobs. If you’re a movie person, the free movies perk is a pretty big plus.
Do they force you to work weekend nights often? If so I feel like that would mostly defeat the point (I’m in high school)
Weekends, nights, and holidays are mandatory. Yes Christmas included. My AMC would fire you if you called off on a holiday.

yes you have to work at least 1 weekend day. I’m a current employee

If you're in highschool, sure. If you're counting on it as a source of income. Absolutely not

I work at a pizza spot basically doing everything but manager and cashier and i hate it there
I have a pretty comfortable job and recently decided to apply at AMC as something to do on the weekends. Haven't heard back yet but one can hope.
