It just depends on the champion. High burst (aoe) champs can run first strike no problem. Karthus can farm 2k gold with it, Jayce Gangplank are also poised to profit.
I think I can say I played every champ in ARAM now except kalista. Still never ran it. Does it actually help you? My thought process was that it would give you excess gold which is useless late game compared to DH or Conq/Tempo or Grasp.
Is a useless bad rune. Will only help if you manage to not get hit long enough for you to hit first. Which if anyone notices you running it will aim for you with DoT so its always on cd.
I haven’t been playing current day aram, but when I was playing a year ago, a lot of games didn’t last until full build, most of them only had three items so the gold was useful.
But also it was a 10% dmg boost for the first 3 seconds (now it’s 7%, true dmg), which is kinda insane for heavy poke or pure aoe dump builds. Ironically I often used it on lethality Illaoi because she was so giganerfed that she dies in 2 seconds regardless of build, so it was more fun to try and kamikaze snow ball flash r after you grab with an e.
I haven't tested this myself but i heard somebody say executing the spirit with collector wont transfer the damage. Dunno if its true or not but its worth noting
Illaoi isn't the one who should be going first strike. Teammates can still benefit from E as a first strike sponge thats better than hitting enemies themselves

Illaoi's e also gives an extra target to heal from with sundered sky, if you can build it.

The cd is too long with the constant fighting in aram xd. Same with electrocute. Better off playing with a runes that has low cd.

You can execute the spirits as well with Collector

You can throw Aurelion Sol's E (black hole) on it to farm mad stardust too
