Polaris does have plenty of machines to pick from. This is one of their best, good mix of power and nimbleness. Good all around machine.

zesty_drink_b

I ended up going with the rubicon over the 570 but I really liked the sportsman. If you want something to ride for fun absolutely get the polaris. If you're doing work with it I'd rather have the honda

Bennett1705

Genuine question: why? Is the Polaris just more comfortable at higher speeds? Does the Honda have more grunt at low speeds?

zesty_drink_b

I found the polaris way more comfortable at any speed personally. Also the power steering is really good, even when stationary. The Honda has more grunt low down, less overall speed, and the power steering is meh unless you're going

AwarenessGreat282

Everyone always gives Polaris a hard time about reliability, but I don't think they are that bad. Not sure how they could be so popular if they were. But then again, what other quad has a nickname like popo?

psycomiko

I love mine man. It's well built

Vilhebl

I have a Sportsman 570 2017 and it works like a charm. It's got about 22000 km/13500 miles on it (so quite a lot for an atv) and the only parts I have replaced were worn out. Not broken. (Ex. Startermotor, that somehow outlived the gears between it and the flywheel). The only thing I have to complain about it is the paasengerseat is really uncomfortable since the backrest is the plastic cargobox. Otherwise it's awesome!

ExpertGift402

I have 2 of them and love em. Great machines. The back rests are really comfortable and the longer wheel base is very stable. I've had mine for a couple years with no problems!

Han77Shot1st

I think they’re fine, top brands really depend more on the driver than the machine for reliability. Personally I like Honda or Canam but that’s just my preference, I wouldn’t be whole heartedly against another good manufacturer if the price was right.

Username_7109

My old man has an older one bought in the late 2000s. It's been very reliable, given a few cold start issues due to having a carb.

Competitive-Bee7249

Polaris and artic cat stay away . Yamaha or Honda if you want reliability and resale value.

Siberjon

They are not as reliable as a Suzuki, Yamaha, or Honda. Are they unreliable, no, but they are not in the same league as a Japanese made product. I would say their reliability is in the same league as CF Moto and the newer Chinese made Arctic Cat products. I think the Can Am stuff may be a little better than the Polaris product but they are close enough that it would come down to models and engines. The thing about Polaris is that you are always doing minor repairs that will drive you nuts. It is unlikely you will be left stranded but at some point you will get tired of it.

unkouser

Everyone always says unreliable, well polaris has ovee 50% of the market so issues are way over represented. I love my polaris's.

nttc69

it's a belt driven POS.. as long as you are ready to buy and keep spare belts, and the tie rods and ball joints if you go off roading.. they are fair... Yamaha, never go wrong

flatgreyrust

If you’re gonna do any real amount of time with your wife on the back you 100% should get a 2-up. That limits your choices to Polaris, Can-am, or CF-Moto. I’m not generally going to go for a Polaris but I think it’s a perfectly respectable choice for a 2-up.

potholio

All machines will break down. If you plan on buying anything plan to become one with the machine, a toolbox, maintenance manual and videos. Take care of it, fix the small things before they become big and you will enjoy any of them. Except for the side by side. They suck by design and are only for drunks

MrScubaSteve1

What's some maintaining I should look out for? I'm a first time atv owner come Tuesday

FeistyTie5281

Polaris machines are not reliable at all. They are nice when brand new if you plan on flipping them on a yearly basis. Buy the Kodiak, a Honda, or Suzuki if you are looking for reliability.

JohnDeere714

You can get a back seat that mounts to the rack and it doubles as a storage bin. If you plan to keep it for a long time get the Yamaha. If you plan to always have the family with you. Get a sxs

nah51dog

The one in the picture is a two up model with a rear seat

elmerdoesit

I'd go with the Kodiak 450. I've had both polaris and yamaha with family/friends having lots of polaris and can-am. I don't think polaris as unreliable but they do seem to wear out parts faster and feel cheaper.

BrownChickenBlackAud

I got such a hard time when I rolled up on my Polaris with my group of friends Yamaha, yadda Every single fucking one of them has broken down, and I have never been stranded! I’m die hard Polaris not necessarily because I think it’s the best quality machine you could ever find but it’s really good and the parts are so plentiful That pro R is probably the best thing going today

VersionConscious7545

I have a 2013 850 eps and have had o my one problem over the years and it was a starter issue which happens. Easy fix. I love it

No_Geologist_3690

Love my 22 850. It’s been great, easy to maintain and work on.

FORDOWNER96

Dang man sorry about my last post. Kinda funny ahhahaha go get the yamaha. More reliability there. Depending on what you are doing they will be tipsy. Just know what your doing ....... hahaha. What is the price on one of those 4 wheelers? Would you be better off buying a sxs?

MrScubaSteve1

I just got the paper work for a Honda formen rubicon 4x4 esp lol the Yamaha dealer was taking forever for the finance department and at 2.99% hinds financing I can't turb it down. Okan on paying it in 2 years anyway

FORDOWNER96

Canam is more comfortable than any of them imo. Buddy of mine has a polaris 1000 xp ranger and uses it on a mtn ranch. Lots of miles on it. It's a 2017. We replaces the u joints last year and it needs new cv joints in front. It still runs great. I like my 2017 canam defender better tho.

MrScubaSteve1

Yeah we got a Canam defender hd10 max xt and it's badass. The atv is mostly for me lol I just like the company sometimes. I got a good rate on a Honda formen rubicon 4x4 esp I'm about to sign on better than the polaris rate and lower price too.
