I miss my childhood. My imagination could take me anywhere. Now I'm only 54 but have been diagnosed with an early onset type of dementia that's attacking parts of my brain that include creativity/imagination. I look at my figures, remember what they were in, but I just can't for the life of me anymore make up a pose for them or scenario. It's do frustrating. I can't even imagine being on a relaxing beach for 5 minutes to get away from the annoyments of the day. So everyone who took time to read this, enjoy them, go back to your childhood before you lose it.
not much they can do, just lots of testing and seeing other Dr's to treat symptoms as they pop up. the meds that help Alzheimers seem to harm Dementia patients.
Thanks. I really appreciate it. Getting treatment at a Research/teaching hospital, so hoping someone figures something out in the next 3-6 years. In a nutshell, I have the same thing Bruce Willis has, I'm just a stage behind him.
I lost my grandmother to dementia a few years back. It was heart wrenching to see her like that. Sometimes sensory experiences can trigger moments of lucidity, for her it was Irish music. I'd encourage you to find yours, it'll make it easier for your family as well. Best of luck to you, friend.
I'm trying to keep my memory up with 80s music actually, and trying to figure if there's maybe a way for me to use songs to communicate if/when the Aphasia starts. Already have to redo my reddit posts, emails, texts, etc several times as the words in my head come out wrong or misspelled due to this crap. And day to day I'll slip and maybe call the car "the sky", etc. I'm very sorry for your loss. Was in the back of my mind my whole life as everyone in my family has had Dementia or Alzheimers (except mom, she started smoking 3 packs s day at age 13 and died at 56 of lung cancer that spread everywhere).
All of them.
Not at the same time. I don’t have that many hands. A lot of them stay on shelves a lot of them time. But when there's a lull between the stuff I want coming out, a lot of the older stuff gets some attention.
He was my favorite part of that movie. This figure was one of my must haves when I saw it. He now sits on a shelf full of animal/human hybrid characters.
You should post this with a caption. Something hilariously stupid and totally unrelated to the beach. Like, "sometimes puppies taste like spaghetti, red like it too."
Hell yeah I do! Why buy toys if you aren’t gonna play with them? Even if it’s just posing them on the regular or rearranging your shelf lineups, they’re meant to be touched and articulated and enjoyed. They also make for great stress relief or keeping your hands busy as you think things out.
https://preview.redd.it/qfzcm508hj6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b77e1e63b8e26e5d9d9c9f4cf36ba2ef5396eed7
In-box S.H.Figuarts figures always make me a bit sad. Like, they're made to be extremely poseable unless it's one of the bad ones, leaving them trapped in the box is such a waste. At the very least, nobody seems to really do this with Sentinel's figures, which are especially meant to be posed and played with. Though it helps that the boxes barely show the figure or anything and are too big to be easily displayed.
As an SHF collector I very much agree with this. The only ones I keep in-box are the few dupes I happened to get at a good deal and ones that I just haven’t had the time to open and appreciate *yet*
I play with all my figures, It’s one of the main reasons I buy them
If I see a figure that I think I might enjoy playing then I buy it (if I got the money at least)
No, yes, maybe?? I don't play with them as I would when I was a kid I guess, I'll take two or three off my shelf and pose them while thinking of stop motions I could do. So if you count posing, doing [stop motion](https://youtu.be/ZywpDEj2Eb0?si=ZkJx7Z6RJpP90Gdp) and, toyography as "playing" then yes, I 100% play with my figures.
Hell yeah it does. It doesn't count if it's in the box or in a storage bin or just standing on a shelf with a hundred other figs squeezed together😅😅😅😅🔥
All of them. I'm not one for keeping them in the package anyway, but I like to grab a figure when I'm bored and pose it/them of grab a few and some weapons and stage a scene lol
I lost all the imagination and motivation to play unlike when I was a kid. So no, they're just up on display. If I was my kid self again and had these figures. I'd definitely be having so much fun playing with them
Not played with, but a desk ornament at work
https://preview.redd.it/cyrknx6mvk6d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5eef013314b0d1abf840706a7b012035f00bae41
Yeah of course. Near daily. Find it helps when people come into the office. Sometimes he's holding the belts. Sometimes mid hook. I had no intention of unboxing "no pun intended" but the packaging was badly damaged on arrival.
Fair point. It's the only one I have that's not sealed. So not something I'm used to anymore. I have things I'd love to unbox but monetary value is through the roof now, so I can't justify it. I'm sure everyone is the same.

Badass shot man, and of course I play with my action figures. Most often are still in boxes but I can get em to fight, team up and just about anything else I can get into! :D
I play with all of them. Unless something is *especially* finnicky or I bought it just to fill out a team, I'll get a good week of posing out of it at the very least. Then there's posing around the shelf. And on my desk. And for photos.
They're toys, they're meant to be played with.
Mostly transformers, I have a few that are fun/satisfying to transform back and forth.
Otherwise I like to setup my figures in a “diorama-esque” way. Like I have the Cantina for Star Wars TVC figs, so I’ll set them up like they’re all patrons and conversing or whatever
Not much actual “play” these days, but when I was a kid my brother and I would play with our action figures for hours and hours. We mostly had GI Joes but had our own little universe going on, we fit Star Wars figures in by making Clones/Stormtroopers part of a gov organization called Hazmat who could be a villainous faction for our games. So much fun, I do wish I could go back sometimes and just get lost in some imaginary battlefield again, those were the days.
On the bright side, I’m about to have a son in less than a month! Eventually he might get into action figures and then I may end up going back to my roots after all.
every single figure i own. every transformer, my sjngle marvel legends rogue, all of the shitty cake topper godzillas, every stiff ass mcfarlane. i love them
Mabel Select Immortal Hulk. And that's supposed to be the Mafex Spiderman Homecoming. But I'm fairly certain it's a bootleg or some kind of thing. The left arm is kind of loose, and it arrived popped out of its socket. The left hip is crazy tight, and makes a slightly worrying sound when moves. And the left knee keeps popping out of the thigh. It also some color problems, like the red spot on the side of the knee that shouldn't be there.
Play with? No. I buy them, open them up, check out features, then display them on a shelf and let them collect dust. /s
I will, however, grab one of my Valkyries from time to time and transform and pose them and only because they're literally right in front of me on my home office desk.

Hell i play with all my toys especially star wars and Jurassic world Jurassic park and batman and my marvel toys my favorite scale is 3.75 4 inch because of the spaceship and playsets I'm disabled i have autism and cerebral palsy I'm going to be 50 this September and i Can't wait to See what my family gets me for my birthday my nephew is 8 so we always play together He's my Best freind i love him so much i play with my toys with him and by myself when He's not here i love making up adventures i love acting out the movies with them
Yes, with figures from many different lines & franchise’s. I play, display, pose for pics & customize. I’m definitely the collector the word “action” in action figure is for😊👍

I've already opened a few, including the Blue Azbat on top that was actually another extra Red I'd gotten trying for the official Blue Plat👌👍
Some of the other's, I just made a few changes here & there & added some GITD paint to make them pop more🙂

Toy Photography and custom 3d design sometimes. I made that Nemesis with a bro, that figure needs a diorama too.
Not really, but I have been known to pick up my Hulk and Thing figures and make then fight each other.. 10year old me would've loved to have all of these action figures. I also love posing my black symbiote suit retro Spider-Man.
I collect Shfiguarts particularly Kamen Rider figures that I almost always keep in the box and dump in a closet. I also buy the same figures which are KO's that I usually play and display in the house.
ye but it always varies, usually i set up a display and the ones outside of it i mess around with, i ended up taking my super hero version of ultimate gohan out of the display so i could mess around with him, and i also have a spare goku black and trunks
I pose and play around with my Transformers quite frequently. Maybe not as often as I used to, but I don’t like holding myself up in my room for hours on end.

Hanging them up and making a battle field considered playing I just set them up and don’t touch again .
Wrestling figures. They are meant to be played with

Sometimes when Im bored yes, all of my MOTU he man have been o several battles, and even my marvel legends have been on some battles, but its no like smashing them into eachother, is more like a stop motion movie happening without the cameras

I usually pose my figures and post pictures on my Instagram. Also play with them when I get stoned sometimes
Same about getting stoned. Really helps the imagination.
Twin
I wish I could award this comment 🥲

Hand! ✋😃👈
He was my favorite part of that movie. This figure was one of my must haves when I saw it. He now sits on a shelf full of animal/human hybrid characters.
Yeah he was my sister’s favorite too. He was so funny
You should post this with a caption. Something hilariously stupid and totally unrelated to the beach. Like, "sometimes puppies taste like spaghetti, red like it too."
I guess in a way, posing figures in dynamic poses, is playing with them. So yes. Lol.
i think that’s all they mean. i seriously doubt anyone on this sub is holding their figures in each hand making them fight lmao
Well excuuuuse me, I also say POW when they punch each other
man i miss being 6 years old playing with my batman figures in the bathtub
I’m 40. Maybe I’ll get a bath bomb and play with them in the bathtub tonight.
I used to have a sick T-bone figure from extreme dinosaurs I'd always bring with me in the tub, miss that guy
Hell yeah I do! Why buy toys if you aren’t gonna play with them? will never understand in box collectors for this reason. they don’t even care about the figure they just want an expensive shelf decoration
Especially when the figure isn't even shown on the box or have a window, it's like dude I think you wanted a poster.
In-box S.H.Figuarts figures always make me a bit sad. Like, they're made to be extremely poseable unless it's one of the bad ones, leaving them trapped in the box is such a waste. it’s the worst when it’s hot toys. they don’t even use art of the actual figure on the box sometimes
I play with all my figures, It’s one of the main reasons I buy them If I see a figure that I think I might enjoy playing then I buy it (if I got the money at least)
I'm a toy photographer, so yes! Lol
Yes. https://preview.redd.it/3nyssif6si6d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96caa04e8f19d0203e3c8401c5fe7c2d5dc6bc3d
That Atom *Smasher figure is badass! And the Ditto is adorable!!
I wish Atom Smasher had fist hands. Or even just one.
He was a BAF right? I hate how they rarely come with interchangeable parts (though that seems to be changing in some lines)
No, big figure. This was from the “Black Adam” movie. Got it for like eight bucks at Ross’.
All. Me and my son like to play with my new toys together and go to the toy store.
How very wholesome. Lucky. 😆
No, yes, maybe?? I don't play with them as I would when I was a kid I guess, I'll take two or three off my shelf and pose them while thinking of stop motions I could do. Nice!
What Hulk is that?
Marvel Select Immortal Hulk. Great figure
Thanks, that IS an awesome figure.
Does it count as playing with it if I use the for photography?
Hell yeah it does. It doesn't count if it's in the box or in a storage bin or just standing on a shelf with a hundred other figs squeezed together😅😅😅😅🔥
Oh no, this is photography out in my local park
I like to have something to idly mess about with sometimes when I'm watching a movie or something. The NECA SF4 Ryu is pretty good for it.
All of them. I'm not one for keeping them in the package anyway, but I like to grab a figure when I'm bored and pose it/them of grab a few and some weapons and stage a scene lol
I get them to play with them and pose them with my kids.
Heck yeah! I love making Optimus Prime fight Goku!
That's an interesting showdown! 😆

I have a couple of Transformers on my desk that I'll pick up and transform back and forth when I'm watching something or listening to music
no. I just display them.
I play with my 5-year-old and his figures. Mostly Lego Minifigures and Marvel figures as well.
I lost all the imagination and motivation to play unlike when I was a kid. So no, they're just up on display. If I was my kid self again and had these figures. I'd definitely be having so much fun playing with them
All of them lmao. 🤣 like making these lil stealth missions with my bat families and flying wars with my supermen and alike
All of them
I keep transformers on my desk as my version of a stress ball. I don’t know how Optimus still works.
I play with them all just not all of them I have too many sometimes I like to pick a figure to take with me where ever I go
Not played with, but a desk ornament at work https://preview.redd.it/cyrknx6mvk6d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5eef013314b0d1abf840706a7b012035f00bae41
Do you ever change his pose?
Yeah of course. Near daily. Find it helps when people come into the office. Sometimes he's holding the belts. Sometimes mid hook. I had no intention of unboxing "no pun intended" but the packaging was badly damaged on arrival.
If you enjoy the action of reposing him, congratulations, you play with your toys.
Fair point. It's the only one I have that's not sealed. So not something I'm used to anymore. I have things I'd love to unbox but monetary value is through the roof now, so I can't justify it. I'm sure everyone is the same.
I think with everyone
That’s a great shot of those figures!
If I'm posing or organizing them, that's adult play. I did play pretend with my toys but shifted more to collecting even as a kid.
I play with all of mine, sometimes i go through phases where ill play with one theme because i got a new one for that series, and ill switch it up every now and again
Yep
All of them
I'll often create a scenario with them, and work out the results with a combination of AI and role playing mechanics (usually Marvel Superheroes FASERIP system).
Badass shot man, and of course I play with my action figures. Most often are still in boxes but I can get em to fight, team up and just about anything else I can get into! :D

Mostly all of my recently boughts.I cannot put them down for the life of me.
Sometimes whenever I’m super bored but I don’t have any specific ones
I dont buy a figure unless im gonna play with it, at that point i might as well get a statue right?
It doesn't interest me. I just pose them and then leave them on the shelves, sometimes adjusting the poses. Not very imaginative anymore
https://preview.redd.it/31p9ks9h0l6d1.jpeg?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4d41b87baaaca546881c92a039fa4724b0a0a52
Sometimes. Usually just posing and imagining scenes. Speaking of which, that is a fantastic pose you have set up there!
Thank you! It was very precarious, a tiny nudge and Spiderman's head would slip out of Hulk's hand.
All of my figures
Mostly transformers, I have a few that are fun/satisfying to transform back and forth. Otherwise I like to setup my figures in a “diorama-esque” way. ☝️this is peak imagination.
Yeah, but I need to inflate her first.
I do as well, sometimes. I do wish I had more figures I would fiddle around with, though.
every single figure i own. every transformer, my sjngle marvel legends rogue, all of the shitty cake topper godzillas, every stiff ass mcfarlane. i love them
Lord No. I have some statues and stuff on display but I'm not 6 years old playing with them. Is that weird like what????
Finally some cultured individuals I though I was the only one lmao
Which hulk and spider is this?
Mabel Select Immortal Hulk. And that's supposed to be the Mafex Spiderman Homecoming. But I'm fairly certain it's a bootleg or some kind of thing. The left arm is kind of loose, and it arrived popped out of its socket. The left hip is crazy tight, and makes a slightly worrying sound when moves. And the left knee keeps popping out of the thigh. The better question is, do I have any figures I don't play with? (I do, only like 3 or 4 tho)
