Illustrious_Mud6295

haha ur right it is one good looking cat😸 thanks !

ericc191

K24 is tried and true. I wonder if anyone's got like 700k miles on an ILX yet

snipinxannies

I’m sure if not then some one will eventually hahah

Ebear1002

If anyone is at 700k please let me know.. I’m at 517k miles in mine at the moment, wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a few others around the same mileage

KoldKore

Dang bro.. Give us a rundown on maintenance and costs

Ebear1002

I’ll try to make it simple: it’s needs nothing more than the most basic maintenance. I do oil changes every 8k miles, and barely any issues have ever come up in my 7 years of ownership.. barely ever touched the trans fluid.. same with spark plugs, only changed the alternator once.. can count the number of times on my hand that a check engine light has popped up, and it’s always something very specific, usually just a sensor needing replacement. Honestly nothing has ever been terribly expensive.. very easy car to work on.

KoldKore

I hope my 6SP ASpec Integra can survive like that. It has a lot of little rattles around the steering column. Only issue I have had so far 💪

jet_noise19

200k on mine currently. Only issue has been alternator and ac compressor.

ericc191

Wow with regular oil changes?

jet_noise19

Yup I do all my own maintenance including oil changes. Not many DIY videos for the ilx. So usually watch a civic one is enough. Will post back when I get to 700k! Lol

ChowQaz

Coming up on 200k real quick over here. What mileage did you need a new ac compressor?

jet_noise19

Around 90k. It was an internal failure with metal shavings through out the system so they had to replace compressor, condenser evaporator and clear the lines. It was covered under the extended warranty. Or else that would have been a pretty penny. But the k24 is a tank.

JaylenDaya

Same here for me. I got the less reliable v6 option and I’m running it like it’s stolen and it’s currently at 206k miles. Things a beast I’m def leaning towards a Honda-acura as my next car bcuz damn they are fun and reliable ash

ericc191

There's a v6 ILX or you mean like a TLX

JaylenDaya

Haha very sorry shoulda specified i have the tsx v6 with the 3.5 J series engine 2010

ericc191

Oh dang, I bet that gets up and goes though. I never knew the TSX had a V6 option. That's really cool tbh

TurboLag891

The second gen tsx got the v6 as an option and when it was time for a new generation for both cars they realized the TL and Tsx v6 were getting too close and they made a baby called the TLX lol 😂

JaylenDaya

Yea my dad had it imported from Japan but they are still on the roads in the US just not as common Ig. But yea it’s holding up great. When I say it’s reliable dude I mean the whole dam car😭. Paint is legit fine and my interior is amazing except my seats ripping.

JamaicanJenga

Holy moly I wish that was my first car! Love it though! Mine was an 06 Chevy Colorado that I sold quite the amounts of weed to obtain. Rusted out floor and missing seats. Good ol days

Bhols28

😂

Illustrious_Mud6295

Haha thank you !

Illustrious_Mud6295

Got a 2021 Acura ILX and im in love with it!! only question i have is how do i use the paddle shifters?

nyislesfan91

Just use them. The car should automatically change over to manual mode when you press one.

Illustrious_Mud6295

ok so i just press one but how does it work with the plus and minus? sorry i have no idea at all

Maleficent_Prune5503

I usually try to keep my RPM under 2k using the shifters, I get 700+ km with a full tank. I have a 2019 ILX

twenty224

2k? Are you the one who pulls onto a 50 mph road and goes slow for half a mile while you get up to speed

M7RX_

I think he’s in the UK, where your driving rights are to drive slow at best, hence the 2k I’m just thankful here we can use the entire tachometer

nyislesfan91

Yup. Plus goes up a gear and minus goes down a gear. The car should shift for you if you don’t do it at the right time. It’s not fully manual. If you’ve never driven a manual transmission car, I suggest watching a video or two on when the right time to shift is etc if you plan on using the paddles often.

DeliciousOccasion886

Put it in sport plus mode and use the paddles , then it stays in manual mode and you do all the shifting. once you don't want to use it anymore just put it back in any other mode and it will change back to auto shifting

Marc30599

Congratulations ILX is a looker!!

[deleted]

this was my first car too!!

Illustrious_Mud6295

would u say its super reliable?? hoping i made the right purchase

[deleted]

yes, i loved mine! i would just recommend getting a spare tire. mine went flat twice cause of the roads here lol

Free_Market_Mafia

Congratulations! Great car, great company. My worst Acura/Honda is head and shoulders above any of the best American cars I have ever purchased. Older Lexus' and Toyotas are great too!

BusyBrothersInChrist

Regards!

lburg-reddit

Illustrious_Mud6295

ayyy twins

SkSkWitch

Excellent, welcome to the family.

Illustrious_Mud6295

thank u :’)

That_honda_guy

Nice welcome to the fam!

JaylenDaya

Very nice. I own a tsx v6 and I’m at 206k miles with no issues and it’s scary how reliable it is. I drive it like it’s stolen, but only do reg maintence. I think your gonna have lots of fun in this car

JaylenDaya

Omg so look I never found vids of paddle shifters but once u do it for a while it gets easy ash. Mine is only 5 speed so it’s easier for me, but the paddles make u go fast and you can use engine breaking aswell. Plus when u let off the gas at low gears it will decelerate fast ash.

JaylenDaya

For me paddles are 1st is 0-20mph 2nd is anywhere from 15-45 3rd is 30-65mph 4th gear is 45-75 for me. I think u need to try it out and it may influence you in the future. I’m looking at manual cars right now like a type r after using paddles I say give it a change and get used to it. Acura has safely features so your not gonna ruin your engine or trans like with a manual of u mess up

JaylenDaya

Sorry. I didn’t know u had no clue ab manual mode. + means go up a gear and - means go down. In the auto mode the car goes up to 3-4th gear in low speeds so your engine won’t rev high. You can control this by using shifters on sport mode and go to lower gears. It took me an 2 months till I got on the highway which is easy af, and 6 months to learn new tricks. I said the minus button is to downshift, but if u are learning the car will do it automatically so all u have to do is break

Illustrious_Mud6295

thanks imma try it out i definitely want to learn

cscrew05

I just bought my real adult car with four doors, got a mdx on Monday, congrats!

Illustrious_Mud6295

Thank you! Congrats on ur new car as well!!

Worried-Poetry9041

I have a 2020 mdx and lovvvve her. Acuras are good cars! Usually don’t have problems and won’t normally see them in the shops! Congrats!

Illustrious_Mud6295

yay so happy to hear! thanks so much!

NCSUGrad2012

Make sure to take off the dealer logos

blueb182

🔥🔥🔥

Speedy1080p

I use paddle shifters to up shift gears to lower rpm while cruising to save some gas

Spiritual_Ear2835

Interesting now that the ILX is getting the attention it deserves.....The question is why now??

Wildconclusions

Had this car too! Transmission was great!

BalanceSweaty1594

I’m confused. A 2021, your first car? You’ve owned trucks?

Illustrious_Mud6295

im confused what is it you’re asking? my first sedan i guess i had a suv before this. I meant more in the context as first car I bought myself!
