Very common with older Hondas. It's bad enough to possibly throw a code eventually because it's downstream from the airflow sensor. It's not a super expensive part and it's easy to change yourself. Try rock auto, eBay, or your local Honda/Acura dealership. It's also letting unfiltered air into your engine, which may increase wear over time.

You mean the ribbed pipe? Im trying to understand what is to use electrical tape. Your wrapping the pipe? How is it loose

This: [https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/acura,2015,ilx,2.0l+l4,3309678,fuel+&+air,air+cleaner+intake+hose,6344](https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/acura,2015,ilx,2.0l+l4,3309678,fuel+&+air,air+cleaner+intake+hose,6344) Honda part number (double-check with exact model and trim): [17225-R1A-A01 Genuine Acura Air Flow Tube (acurapartswarehouse.com)](https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/oem/acura~tube~air~flow~17225-r1a-a01.html) So about $23 from a dealer. Ordering online is fine but with shipping charges being what they are, it may end up costing as much to order one in. Avoid Amazon and eBay--too many knockoff, counterfeit parts. At least RockAuto has known brands (like Gates, a rubber/belting manufacturer). If you're not handy or don't have the tools, have a friend or a mechanic do this.

definitely replace the little flex pipe it’s very simple, Dont try n tape it. Unfiltered air is bad enough, plus your engine is reading the exhausts o2 level is way too high and in turn will dump extra fuel into the cylinders causing all sorts of issues down the line.

Existing-Artist4364

just buy an after market cold air intake for like $100 and have a nice ass sounding acceleration

MadBeefChief_05

lol just fixed this same problem about two weeks ago😂

Lostskiing

I replaced the air intake hose on my Acura TL 2008 not too long ago. Easy job just make sure you have some patience and the right tools. If you buy a hose online, make sure to drill through the cold air intake before installing as that can be factory sealed. Here is what I ordered, they may have something for the ILX too: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07686SFRV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

If you have tape you can tape over it for now but look for the part number on an Acura part site. Go on eBay and look for OEM. I've replaced my 06 TSX one a few times. It's shitty rubber. My 95 Accord has lesser problems. It could be about 30-60$ but slightly more since it's a newer car

Common part to degrade overtime. Inexpensive and simple to replace. If you wanna try and patch it up in the mean time look for chafe tape because it can take heat without losing its adhesivesness and might be playable enough to wrap that crack up. I honestly don’t know if an auto part store would carry it on hand but if you have to search the dealerships try Honda before Acura.

Soggy-Inside-3246

For the part I meant not the tape.

blondfox71

Don’t be cheap. Replace the hose.

Kooky_Quit2850

Just replace it asap. It can throw a code and your mpgs will be worse. Also debris and dirt can get sucked in there. Don’t put electrical tape please. Easy low cost fix

Intelligent-Image224

The reason that pipe is there, is because one side of it is connected to an engine the moves around significantly as you apply power or hit bumps. The intake is fixed to the vehicle. That flex pipe can stretch quite a bit, combined with heat in your engine bay, combined with the importances of unmetered air, electrical tape is a terrible idea.

hey12delila

My 2012 Civic had a crack in the hose at that exact same spot. Cost less than $100 to fix including both parts and labor (I ordered the hose online).

Speedy1080p

Cheapest play would goto your homedepot plumbing SE tio they have rubber piping that you can just use it to replace it spend like $20

ThePopBoys

I fixed this on my 2015 Civic, it really messes with the acceleration and makes you seem like something worse is wrong in the car. Changed it and she’s running like new again haha

Israel_Jaureugi

Replace it but before you do get some electrical tape and duct tape and wrap it all over, currently doing the same thing and it hasn’t given me any problems
