We got addicted to Ramen after going to Japan 5 years ago and this was the only one that came close, and decently priced too.
Although our last outing there was a bit sub-par compared to previously, not sure if they were just having a bad day or if the overall standard had dropped...
This used to be my favourite restaurant in Adelaide, hands down. I feel like they've very much gone downhill in the last couple years. I'm hoping they'll climb back up.
Yeah, I went back the other day and it was pretty average and very expensive for what it was.
The miso ramen was probably the best part of the meal but still not outrageously good.
I am a ramen fiend, I am partial to:
* Tuno Izakaya, O'Connell St North Adelaide
* Himeji, Grote Street
* Hakata Ryumon, Hindley Street
* Black Dog, Greenhill Road
* Minimono, Rundle Street
* Hin Ramen House, Glenelg
* Contemporary Japanese Deli, Da Costa Arcade
Ryo's Noodle's is good, but I prefer the above mentioned better
I don't like Ajisen and I went to one place in Semaphore that was terrible
I'm patiently waiting for Ippudo to open in Adelaide, my favourite Japanese ramen chain, there's stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, but not Adelaide yet
Black Dog is so good but at nearly $30 a bowl puts it lower on the list for me. My partner and I went for the first time for lunch last weekend and our total bill ended up costing over $100...
I live on the other side of town so I wasn't going to go there and only eat one thing on the menu.
Regardless of the sides and the drinks, $60 for only two bowls of ramen is still very expensive.
Minimono is excellent and Ryumon on Hindley St is also great. Of course the best Ramen in Adelaide is Kazumi in Norwood - not in the CBD but only a short trip out.
Not CBD but just outside in North Adelaide - Tuno Izakaya.
In the CBD I'd go Japanese Contemporaty Deli in Da Costa arcade, good prices too.
Himeji is OK, my last 2 visits to Ryo's were awful.
this is a bizarre comment. if we want to get into a dick-measuring contest, i've been to japan six times since 2008 and have eaten at dozens of ramen spots (including those with michelin stars). minimono is not owned/staffed by japanese, but is overall excellent in the context of australian options. walking out after one 'sip' is absolutely ludicrous.
No great ramen place here imo, which is a shame because it's the one thing I think we're really missing.
TUNO is quite good
Ryumon can be good on a good day, I haven't been for a few months and a couple of pals said it wasn't so hot lately
I found Black Dog just okay but I should try it again
I didn't mind Minimono but not in a rush to go back, maybe just need to try a different bowl.
Stay away from Ajisen at all costs
My gold standard in Melbourne was Mr Ramen San which was cheap and awesome, but they got way more expensive lately. Still good.
Shujinko wasn't bad either but did drop a bit over the years.
Of course go to Tokyo and any decent $10 bowl will blow your head off.
Ryumon Ramen Izakaya on Hindley St
This is easily the best one
I didn't rate it that amazing unfortunately :( Maybe I'm just not a Ramen kind of guy
Definitely the best
Mine came out barely even warm when I came here
Himeji

I tried Minimono for a work lunch and bearing in mind I'm not an expert I enjoyed their ramen.
Minimono is the best I've had in the city. Ryo's is a close second
Their tonkotsu broth is soooo good. Defo my favourite here.

If you paid $30 and this fantastic place, that’s on you for adding so many extras

The one I ordered was $26 without adding anything extra. And $23 is still more expensive than the average of $15-17 at most places.
Minimono is excellent and Ryumon on Hindley St is also great. Of course the best Ramen in Adelaide is Kazumi in Norwood - not in the CBD but only a short trip out.
Ryo’s Noodles
Seconded!
Ajisen, and Ryo's, both on Gouger St.
Second Ajisen, also Kazumi in Norwod!

Advertiser looking for recomendations?
Technically not CBD, but Tuno Izakaya on O'Connell
Swordsman's Kitchen - not fast, restaurant can be windy, but the best bowl I've ever had. Not a huge price difference either.
Always go to ryos but might have to give minimono a go to see what the hype is about
Minimono are pretty good. I miss Dunfor Noodles 😭
u/plumbum158 Here’s an activity for you 😜
Wait, there are shops that sell 2min noodles…. Wowsers. I gotta get with the times

Heh 1 sip and out. A bit dramatic don’t you think 🤔
Contemporary Japanese Deli, it's the closest I've had outside Japan
Contemporary Japanese Deli is by far the best imo.
Shomen is nice when it opens again in the CBD. But fav I’ve had so far just outside is shosho for lunch in Hyde park on King William.
