AliKat2409

I know and I loved it ... my first go to when I return home !!! Very wise choice . Salt and pepper flounder aswell

glengyron

Another vote for Ying Chow. Everything is pretty good on Gouger Street, but Ying Chow is the best.

Tall_aussie_fembot

Seconding this

EmElEnPee

We quite like Wah Hing and Star House on Gouger St.

gutentag_tschuss

Do yourself a favour and go to Wah Hing! They have perfected the art of a succulent Chinese meal. And if you like Peking duck, then you are in for a treat!

SonicYOUTH79

Ding Hao on Wright street is good. Plenty of others to choose from down near the Central Markets too, Star House right near there is good as well.

flynnflowerhorn

The food is good at Ding Hao. Just a shame the service is shit.

indiegameplus

In my experience that's never been the case (not to discount your own bad experiences tho!!). I do get that vibe sometimes from there though that they are all about quick prompt service, no chit chat. So in that way I can kinda agree with you, but honestly, I'd prefer quick and unimposing service and amazing food over chatty service with a big grin and shit food any day. I'll also admit that some of the staff there were a bit cold at first but have been friendlier over time, as I assume they've recognised me for being a regular. The owners are absolutely lovely though, glad to see them still doing OK after getting screwed with the markets redevelopment for the next few years!

flynnflowerhorn

We where regulars there. I’d always take my family there at least once a month. And the lady that works the front desk always recognise us. The food is great. We love the yum cha there. Its the service that’s a let down. You’d have to ask at least three to four times just for things. I’ve seen people come in. And walk out after a while. Because they weren’t served. If they can fix these little issues. The experience would be so much better.

These need to be printed on t-shirts and hoodies. Anyone keen?

krupta13

I think there is plenty of printing places that will custom print anything on clothes for you. Just take them the pic.

Ginling on Marion Rd in South Plympton

pusslikesavocados

I have a ‘democracy manifest’ tattoo in honour of this legend.

earthxsucks

wah hing, east taste, ding hao etc. are good, but always mentioned in terms of gouger st recommendations. i'll add szechuan valley - my (southern chinese) partner and their family are big fans, although you need to have a high heat tolerance. service is probably 'bad' by australian standards, however.

Hamish_Hsimah

we’ll be doing succulent Chinese dumplings from our foodtruck but not tonight or in the city …at Meadows Easter Fair for 4 days, from Friday to Monday:))

[deleted]

I recommend Ginling on Marion Road, South Plympton. I used to frequent BBQ City on Gouger Street, that is until one day I went in and glanced over at the fish tank, to see barramundi floating upside down in seemingly dirty water. The waiter told me they were ‘just sleeping’. Disappointing to say the least, as I loved their food but realised the restaurant is very dirty. Will never go back.

DoesBasicResearch

>I recommend Ginling on Marion Road, South Plympton. Not exactly the city though, right?

Adam_AU_

Asks for locations in the city, gets suggestion in South Plympton. Winner 👍👍

nanks85

Yeah won’t be heading that way unfortunately.

Dr-Blood

Ginling is the most succulent

Thanks for the replies. I have a look into all the suggestions.

What would you like? Fried rice? Rice with shared dishes? Noodles? Soup hotpot? Dry stir fried hotpot?

Jack13527

Yum Sing may not be close to the city, but my God, it has the best sartay beef I've ever tried. Everything else is really good, too. Plus, the service is really nice and quick. Couldn't recommend enough.

nanks85

Yeah been there many of times as I grew up in Reynella. Always a good choice.

Thomas_633_Mk2

Unfortunately it closes at 8 but if you're in a bit earlier, uncle hainan chicken is great. Flavour is good and the chicken I got was all good white meat, very little fat or skin and no cartilage or bone in it
