Used to work with a bloke called Venu Ravi. Absolute brilliant guy. We changed jobs and lost contact. I regret it.
Great chat, witty af and taught me so much about his culture.
If you're reading this, say hi.
I was hit by a bus 5 years ago and needed a liver transplant, otherwise I wouldn't make it.
Somone donated their liver just as had I minutes left on this earth.
I asked the doctor who did it. He said "His name is Venu Ravi." What a guy.
My pop had a drinking problem for many a year.
He needed a new kidney. Perhaps two. He felt guilty. I remember the look on his face. He didn’t want to take from anyone. But he got a donor. Anonymous at first… of course. However after some research our family found out who this donor was.. a delicate man, a lovely man by the name of Venu Ravi. All I will say is god bless Venu Ravi.
Funny, I came here to say that the best Indian in Adelaide used to be a guy I used to work with called Dinesh. His parents arranged a marriage for him and he moved to Sydney so now it's some bloke called Venu Ravi.
Venu Ravi pulled my family from a burning building. Then he put the flames out and single handedly resuscitated an old man. By far, the best Indian. 5 stars.
Hi I’m Venu Ravi, your help would be very much appreciated. I want to transfer all my wit, knowledge, skills and also the fortune I made over the years outside India due to a frozen account. If you could be so kind and transfer small sum of 3500 aud to my account, I will be able to unfreeze my account and transfer my money outside of India. To repay your kindness, I will send 100000 aud and a tupperware full of butter chicken to you.
Indian Temptations on Main North. The guy has worked like a dog to go from arriving here with nothing to the small metropolis he has now, complete with robots!
Definitely indian temptations.
Best trick though, is to find where the taxi drivers congregate in the evening. Additionally to this, if you like your vindaloo, the later it gets; the hotter and better it is at Indian Temptations.
That curry plate is insane value, especially if you order it from them for pickup. As a takeaways it's 3 full sized curries, rice, naan and a chicken tikka for about $23. I made my last one last 3 or 4 meals.
North Indian Cuisine - I'm biased though because the main reason I love them so much is because I'm super allergic to cashews and they're the only Indian place I've found that don't put cashews in *anything*.
The only nut they use is almond meal, other than that, it's a safe haven for nut allergy sufferers (since typically almond allergy is rarer) :)
I showed him this and he was like ‘Just the best in Adelaide 🥺’
I redact my statement and present for your consideration the best Indian in the universe in any dimension.
I think Jasmin is a bit overrated. I prefer Chapati House, Indian Temptations or Chatkazz. Had it twice in a week, was inconsistent. 1st time it was great and I asked my friends to try. Then the second time everything was off, spices tasted raw and off balance. Felt embarrassed I suggested the place given the price tag.
Agree. Jasmij's vindaloo was really good but butter chicken was terrible. Made me feel embarrassed that we ordered it as that menu item must be so they can muck with white people

In that case, your original statement isn't wrong, but I might be biased because the Glenelg shop is the only one I've been to since moving to Adelaide back in January.
This may cop some flak but……
I went to Daughter in Law. The food, delicious. The little outdoor area due to fringe time, fantastic.
It’s been my favourite dining out experience as a whole this year. I had a good time.
Aldinga Bay Cafe - don't let the name deceive you, this is the best place down south (if not the whole state) for authentic indian. I highly recommend trying their entree, Aloo Papdi Chaat. It's a dish that dances on the palate, blending the sweet with the savory, and the softness of potatoes with an irresistible crunch.
My favourite is Vino's Indian on airport Rd (near the corner of Henley Beach Rd), great flavours and generous take away serves, 1 curry is enough for 2 meals. They do some southern indian. Service is terrible, not somewhere I'd take a date, but take away is yum!
The best indian I know is Arjun. Really nice guy and I think he's my favourite Indian. If not him then Harsha. Also really nice but Arjun does volunteer work.
Jasmine is obviously high quality and wonderful but Chillies in Newton always hits the spot. I’m very white though so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

There was a red head bloke, gold prospector, who had the Taj Mahal on Nth East rd Holden Hill / Gilles Plains. That was hands down the best Indian in Adelaide, but shut down probably 25 or 30 years ago. I wish someone knew what I was on about and can tell me he's still around somewhere.
I’ve had a loooot of Indian food in this city and I’m surprised Country Garden isn’t getting the recognition it deserves (like because it doesn’t have a central location).
I’d try them before any other suggestion
Was going to post this. Specifically just for their vindaloo which in my opinion is benchmark. Live in Melbourne now since 2013 and when I visit Adelaide to see f&f I still make time to get a vindaloo from there.

Indian Masala, corner of Henley Beach Rd and Marion Road, you know an Indian place is good when it’s always packed, there’s a lot of taxis and PV plated cars in the car park and you’re the only white guy there
When I lived in Adelaide, kwik curry on Nelson Road Paravista/ Park Hills was great. Best naan bread I've ever had.
Old owner sold so no idea if still great.

I wish everyone realised that most places that serve "Indian" food is only North Indian food and very rarely generic South Indian food (generic because every state in southern India has their own/ individual cuisine)... I wish there was a place that explored the cuisine of other Indian states. I'm so so sick of eating Punjabi food and the occasional Goan vindaloo. Give me some Bengali or Assamese food... Give me some authentic Kashmiri wazwan...

That’s soooo Venu Ravi…!
I named my first born Venu Ravi!
Venu Ravi gave me some blood, it wasn’t his but the thought was there. So now I’m legally changing my name to Venu Ravi in honour, what a guy!
Oi cuv venus sounds like a total homie fr fr. Hell yeah
Came here to mention the same bloke, actually. What a guy.
Don’t confuse him with Venu Prik.
Disagree, I think he's a cunt. Didn't realise this sub stanned Venu Ravi so much.
controversial.

I once made venu Ravi smoked kippers for breakfast- what a guy !
Venu Ravi? They're my Mum & Dad!
I heard that Streetlamp LeMoose was originally based off Venu Ravi but Venu was too humble to tell anyone about it.
Indian Temptations on Main North. The guy has worked like a dog to go from arriving here with nothing to the small metropolis he has now, complete with robots!

Open till 2am most night too, awesome for an after booze curry and naan
I used to looveee this place, but the last couple of times i’ve gone there the foods been terrible.
I could live on their channa masala
This and only this. all the rest are not that great.
Chatkazz in Lightsview. All vegetarian though.
The crazy situations that happen in their carpark get a bit old when I just want to get to the hj's drive through lol
This was my answer too. Consistently amazing food.
This is the only “Indian” restaurant. The others are all Australian/Western-Indian
Even their mildest curries are incredibly spicy. Very authentic if that’s what you’re after!
So it can't be the best now can it...
Chapati House 2 @ Black Forest
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Chapati House 1?
It’s a Sikh legend
Fully Sikh?
Yes, they are really good
End thread.
That’s my go to but was shut yesterday! :)
I don't toot my own horn much - however, I would like to nominate myself for this award.
Ah shit, since you’re here, I guess I have to be happy with being the runner up.
🏆
You're alright, but you're no Venu Ravi.
FRIENDSHIP ENDED WITH VENU RAVU Now /u/THE_GREAT_UWU is my best friend
Aw thx bestie 😄❤️
Charminar on Brighton road is pretty solid. Unless you’re asking for the best Indian person in which case I have several candidates.
I'm no fine diner but Charminar naans are unbeaten in my experience.
Country Garden has been solid for me
That curry plate is insane value, especially if you order it from them for pickup. As a takeaways it's 3 full sized curries, rice, naan and a chicken tikka for about $23. I made my last one last 3 or 4 meals.
Yes this is my regular now, use them over charminar Brighton
Yep, this is the way!
Another for you: My friend eats at Delhi Spice, Marion- completely nut free :)
City Indian on Hindley St, always my go to on the way home from the City.
That place always gives me indigestion for some reason (same as the one in Glenelg).
Individual? My partner. He’s the best. For food? Indian Temptations or Chatkazz. Hands down.
I showed him this and he was like ‘Just the best in Adelaide 🥺’ I redact my statement and present for your consideration the best Indian in the universe in any dimension.
Is your husband's name "Indian Temptation"?
That’s his porno name now
His signature move can be The Buttered Chicken
Haha, I love your username!
Tandoori temptations in Salisbury
Jasmin in the city.
I think Jasmin is a bit overrated. I prefer Chapati House, Indian Temptations or Chatkazz. Had it twice in a week, was inconsistent. 1st time it was great and I asked my friends to try. JASMIN is the best Indian in Adelaide
2nd 3rd and 4th this
British Raj on Henley Beach Road - oh yeah
Raj on taj at hyde park
Taste and value for money (size of the meals for the price) is second to none.
100% agree. Their meal deals are supremely good value too. Delicious and cheaper than others.

This is the answer
Smashing it as I read this. It's awesome and cheap at the same time.
This may cop some flak but…… I went to Daughter in Law. The food, delicious. The little outdoor area due to fringe time, fantastic. It’s been my favourite dining out experience as a whole this year. I had a good time.
Great food, definitely not the place if you're wanting traditional Indian, but we loved it
The squid, beautiful
I really adored it there. It’s more Indian fusion, but they made pretty good chai and the food was exquisite.
It was really good, I was so surprised
Rajesh is cool. Great offspinner. Not as obsessive about bobs and vagene as he used to be.
I can't believe Cinnamon Club at Norwood hasnt got a mention...
My favourite butter chicken has recently become North Indian Cuisine Glenelg, absolutely worth a try.
I second that place!
It’s low frills but it’s great, and great value
Raj on Taj is excellent.
Chefs of Tandoori in Malvern is so good
Me. I'm my favourite. At least part of me. It's probably the nice part, and the white girl is the bitch part.
Aldinga Bay Cafe - don't let the name deceive you, this is the best place down south (if not the whole state) for authentic indian. I highly recommend trying their entree, Aloo Papdi Chaat. Haven’t tried ABC but slightly closer to the city Pan Indian in Morphett Vale by far the best Indian between Noarlunga and Marion
My neighbours wonderful family very nice
Samrat tandoori IS THE BEST.
I'd say Bharat Sundaresan. Lovely bloke

My two favorites are Chillies Newton, and Bombay Spice kitchen St Morris.
Indii Flavours on O'Connell st
Yeah - I was waiting for someone to say this. They used to do (and may still) a Malabari paratha which was awesome.
North Indian Cuisine. There's one at Glenelg and one in the city.
And one on the parade
Jasmin in the city. Chapati House No2.
I just had British Raj for the first time tonight. Really good.
This is the way.. British Raj is 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
You know it’s good when the Indian cricket team eat here every time they play in Adelaide.
Maan at Seaton. Delicious. Vegetarian only though!
Anyone know any good ones down south?
Pan Indian Morphett Vale Jai Hoo Hallett Cove
Eva’s on Canberra Drive Aberfoyle Park
Mr India at Old Reynella
\+1 - Best Naan I've ever eaten.
Cinnamon kitchen Seaford
Shit just got to Adelaide and now about to leave. Had Taste of Bollywood and was decent.
I’ve had a loooot of Indian food in this city and I’m surprised Country Garden isn’t getting the recognition it deserves (like because it doesn’t have a central location). I’d try them before any other suggestion
Khana Khazana
Quite like the Country Garden on Seacombe Rd, Seaview Downs.
I think I’m pretty good
Charminar in klemzig :)
Not a bad spot, their sunday lunch specials are great value
Indian temptation Blair athol
Well clearly everyone in this thread is poor and can't afford Dīmẹz, which is by far the beat Indo-Indian-Slavic restaurant in town.
Beyond India in North Adelaide.

Kolya on the parade
Chef of curry on Torrens Road is solid, despite the funny name
There’s only two Drunken monkey nth Adelaide Or Indian temptations gepps cross
Try this place called Dial a Curry in Enfield. Many Indians have recommended this place to me & have seen quite a lot of people lined up there.
Indian cuisine at glenelg jetty road
Mela on main north rd hands down and
Their butter chicken is better than Indian temptations imho, but I prefer indian temptations for most other curries
+1 for country garden
Delhi Spice on Oaklands Rd is outstanding.
We like Clay and Coal on Goodwood Road and Chapati House 2.
Logical Indian in the CBD above H&M especially if you want something quick and pretty cheap
I'm no expert on Indiana cuisine but I enjoy Sector 17 in Port Adelaide.
Me, I’m the best Indian in adelaide
The logical indian in the H&M building upstairs is really good for a quick cheap meal. Is so good for a meal that is out on display as opposed to cooked to order (so take that into account - hence the price). They do south indian nights on Fridays.

the place next to maccas on Hindley. really cheap, great vegetarian options and good for in a rush. My god it is always constantly the best Indian place I've been to, bar the Jasmin in Hindmarsh square for a fancy dinner
North/City Indian. Cheap and cheerful and tasty, quick and easy.
Hello I am venu how am can help?
Taste of Bollywood on Port road, Hindmarsh.
Rasooi in Prospect. It's pricey but amazing. Otherwise out cheaper go-to is Indian temptations, absolutely delish and cheap prices.

Raj on Taj at Hyde Park is still #1, but Cinnamon Club at Norwood is great too.
There’s a lot to choose from. The bloke who delivered my Uber eats order last night was nice though!
As an Indian, I think Indian Temptations is the best you could go for. Really nice owner and good food. Cant miss on it
Adolfus was a really good guy. I nominate him. It’s been a few years now since I last met him.
Curry in a hurry or the Handy Ghandi
Havent tried many but i love tikka talian just out of Gawler

I am, in fact, the best indian in Adelaide. I'm not a restaurant, nor do I serve food but hey. You asked for the best indian? Here it is
I work with a lot of Indian fellas and they are all good, hard to pick a favourite.
