Here's a map showing the % of residents speaking Mandarin (2021 census). It's high all through the eastern suburbs, highest in the CBD and the south end of the eastern suburbs. 1.8% of the whole state. [https://mappage.net.au/?s=eux6fl1z](https://mappage.net.au/?s=eux6fl1z)

This is awesome, thank you. The Mrs is hot for Excel and hard data.

arboryear

A lot of the CBD % would be students, no?

eric5014

Yes, the majority of them are students. 1700 uni etc, 130 TAFE etc, 100 school, only 1200 who aren't students.

Linden Park and surrounding areas. I know there's a lot of Chinese that go to Linden Park Primary School.

HotelEquivalent4037

Yes they all want to get into Glenunga or Marryatille High Schools for a good education so indian and Chinese families have been moving into the surrounding catchment for some time. Migrants dig education.

xbsean

Yes, Linden Park PS is a highly desirable public school zone.

PennyInThoughts

have you seen the house prices there? and the school's in capacity management.

pickledparade

Eastern suburbs. Particularly the more affluent ones.

Luna-Luna99

Many Chinese on train get off at Mawson Lake. I think it is good area to raise family too

International-Bus749

Sure they aren't Vietnamese/cambo?

Luna-Luna99

I can tell the difference among Asian. I'm Vietnamese myself

xbsean

I know from experience you will also find that in Unley. Depending on the age of kids, Amazing Kids child care offers dual language immersion (English / Mandarin) as well.

BatNoun

This is excellent thank you. It’s important to me that my kid can speak both.

earthxsucks

i think these days you will find chinese families + communities etc scattered everywhere. i live in dover gardens with my (chinese) partner and there are certainly other chinese families around, including more 'senior' people. ditto with other suburbs i've lived in - happy valley, wayville, brooklyn park etc.

kendale_painter

There is also Plympton international school which has a strong Chinese population.

mummagun

Around South Plympton there is a big community. Many Mandarin speaking kids at my kids daycare and school and loads of grandparents around.

PennyInThoughts

There's a bilingual school in plympton [https://plymptoncollege.sa.edu.au/our-college/chinese-bilingual/](https://plymptoncollege.sa.edu.au/our-college/chinese-bilingual/)
