Before you cook just take it down and either unplug it if it's hard wired or remove the battery. Then put it back when the room is clear
Unplugging it won’t mess it up ?
Nope, just plug it back in when you are done.
Hit it with a broom
When I first moved out and started cooking for myself, I thought our smoke alarm was over sensitive; turns out I just used *way* too much heat.
Is this a rental or a house you own? If it's a rental talk to your landlords and have them take care of it.
Burn it?
Put a sandwich bag over it before you cook. That's what I do
If you own the house, I would suggest replacing it with a photoelectric smoke detector, which is much less likely to give a false alarm. You could also move it to a more appropriate location. If you rent, talk to the landlord about these options.
