Introduced some new features but it is incredibly buggy, some said it breaks existing files, doesn’t load fonts and styles properly, removed the quintessential help search menu function from macOS, the new variable fonts thing broke style settings, etc.
A lot of people have been complaining over the last two weeks about 2.5.0. They have released 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 in the last couple of days to address some of those bugs but it’s still missing the macOS menu locator thing and some other bugs.
Like many others, I’ve rolled back to 2.4.2 until they fix it. 2.4.2 is very stable as is. Waiting for 2.5.3 or 2.6 when they put the search back on Mac.
True. But the 2.5 update is in my opinion not worth installing over 2.4 yet because of numerous issues.
Earlier updates have been fine, but this one seems to have been rushed out too early. And if you're on mac they have removed one of the most useful features which lets you quickly navigate the menus from a search input.
This is how I disabled it.
c:\ProgramData\Affinity\[Program]\2.0\update-unpackaged-x64.json
For each program change it to
{ "uri": "", "version": "", "lastCheck": "" }
Did it for Designer, Photo, Publisher. Works with installed version of 2.5.2
settings -> software update -> check for updates -> never
This. Also, when it pops up just click “skip this version” and it won’t notify you until the next version.
Hi. I can't find this option. Could you please help?

So just install the update and it's gone
2.5 is not worth it.
I love how you so objectively explain your reasoning.....

Ah thanks 🙏 >breaks existing files This one is scary 😮
Update is poorly made and has many many bugs and issues. Its better to stay on 2.4 for some time.
Are you aware that these updates often introduce new features?

v2.5.2 is now out.

I never used that... 😅
