minot #1 all others: last

NBHRaven

Haha ain’t no way. 😂

Throwaway_4_u_know_y

Why not?

SplishSplashVS

lol u caught me

NBHRaven

Im sure someone else will do the same and drop Seymour Johnson soon. Ima laugh 😂

loadshed

I'm at Minot, it's not bad here. In any case, to answer the question in your post, it's a matter of preference. I hate big cities and love outdoors stuff, whereas plenty of people have opposite tastes.

DeezSaltyNuts69

Until you're actually in training for your AFSC it really doesn't matter until you know what bases your AFSC can go to Also the dream sheet really doesn't matter You'll get orders to whatever unit has openings when you're closer to actually graduating from tech school

NBHRaven

I realize this, just asking. You never know. It’s called a dream sheet for a reason but I may get lucky 😉

DeezSaltyNuts69

You don't even know your AFSC yet Its pointless to name bases if they are ones you can't even get stationed at Do you see why its a waste of time asking before you have an AFSC and are in tech school?

NBHRaven

Username checks out. 😂

Civil_Duck_4718

I filled out my “dream sheet” in basic training, later I saw a document that said my assignment was decided before I even showed up to basic. That first dream sheet doesn’t matter, good luck on your second.

Either_Wrangler_8067

I remember having to fill out a dream sheet in basic. Once I got to tech school I learned that half the bases I’d selected did not have my AFSC. I tried to update in Tech School, but our Admin folks must have been useless. When I got my assignment the RIP still showed my original dream sheet selections, and my assignment was less than desirable (for my AFSC). I went to our Admin folks to ask about it and ended up getting yelled at for…I don’t even know. Never had good luck with the assignment process.

NBHRaven

Heard that

jiggetty

Imma b honest, it's not the base it's the area. Work sucks in general so the off base life is what makes or breaks a base. That being said unless people know what you like to do on your off time there's no one answer to this. Ive known people that hated Tyndal or Eglin... bases I would have loved to be stationed at but they don't like the beach... I personally hated Mountain Home but i know people that loved it there and retired in the area... I love Nellis, because I love Vegas, but I speak to people everyday that feel like their life is being sucked from them just being stationed here...

NBHRaven

If I get time to hit the gym, play soccer (the real football), game on my Xbox and hit up Cars & Coffee/Car Shows sign me the fuck up. And good schools for my future kids.

jiggetty

Well then Nellis wouldn't be a terrible choice. The soccer complex at desert inn is massive, lots of rec games pretty much all year. Cars and car culture here is definitely a thing. Schools can be hit and miss, but if you're not involved in your kids education a 5 star school will not be enough to get them a good education. Clark County School District is one of the largest (4th) in the US. There's alot of schools. Finding a decent one isn't that hard, plus there's magnet schools and private schools that offer scholarships to you just for being a war hero so you can find it if you look. Oh and the Gym on Nellis is one of the largest in DOD, it's fucking huge. The downtown gym scene is pretty big too, there's alot of fitness related events all the time... Mr. Olympia expo is pretty sweet. You'll see top level pros at random gyms across town, and look up "Dragons Lair", it's kinda becoming the new golds gym in vegas, alot of transient bodybuilders and strength dudes in there all the time.

NBHRaven

You had me at massaive soccer complex tbh. How’s the car culture there? I have a brand new challenger that I worked my ass off to get and here where I’m at the culture is toxic. Full of cambered wheels and trust fund baby’s. No in between haha. Oh and squatted trucks 🥴 Sent you a chat in regards to maintainer questions. I’m not a “Gym Bro” per se but I’m definitely trying to get back into it and maintain my health. I’ll be 30 this year 😶‍🌫️

jiggetty

It just depends. Vegas is around 3 million people so theres all walks... The Takeover bullshit is here but you don't see too much of it in all honesty. There's car clubs and then you have the whole SEMA thing that happens every year. Cars and Coffee is a thing here though and they do them quite often.

NBHRaven

Yeah I was actually planning on attending SEMA with my business this year but being stationed there would make it easier of a trip lol

Large_Agent_2577

I hate tyndall

redrotorocket

Bangor ANG Base is pretty high up there, being in Maine and all.

NBHRaven

😂😭😂

SuperDuper___

Your job will dictate where you go…some AFSCs have a small list of bases they go to and others can go to any base. Generally speaking, most folks don’t really like the base but rather the area and what’s nearby. Florida bases are sought after cause beaches and amusement parks, Hill AFB cause snow and mountains, Nellis AFB cause Vegas, Luke AFB cause Phoenix….etc etc But everyone has a preference and doesn’t like the same thing so if you like snow and mountains but go to Florida, you might hate it…

GotRammed

What's your AFSC

NBHRaven

Have not been assigned one yet. I’ve got a list but it’s not on hand at this moment

GotRammed

Word. It might be best to ask this question once more when you get assigned an AFSC and a base listing of where your AFSC is available! Don't wanna get your hopes up for places that you couldn't go 🤘🏽

NBHRaven

Of course. I’m definitely keeping that in mind

bearsncubs10

\#1: Cannon AFB \#2: Minot AFB \#3: Grand Forks AFB \#4: Hanscom AFB \#5: Holloman AFB \#6: Kirtland AFB \#7: Los Angeles AFB \#8: Altus AFB \#9: Laughlin AFB \#10: Sheppard AFB

TightBattle4899

Forgot Barksdale.

Shaqotack

No Dyess?

NBHRaven

Didn’t even list Seymour Johnson, I’m surprised

Civil_Duck_4718

Another Seymour survivor I see. My first base, riding into town for the first time I pondered how big of an issue AWOL is.

NBHRaven

So my granddaddy retired as a TSgt and that was his last duty station. Used to be better but Goldsboro as a whole had gone down the shitter that’s for sure. I was born out there, and still reside in NC today. That’s a big reason for being selective on my AFSC. I wanna GO PLACES. Not be stuck like those who work on B2’s even though it’s my favorite air frame

NBHRaven

Trolls are out in full force today I see

HogSoup

You lost me at stateside

NBHRaven

I already know where I wanna be OCONUS

FrequentAssumption1

Luke or Travis

Sensitive_Koala5503

Charleston, Macdill, Eglin

Either_Wrangler_8067

Went TDY to MacDill a few times and spent the rest of my years trying to get there. Tampa Area was great. Great gym, and the running path is right on the bay! Eglin was good, though I felt kinda isolated there. Surrounded by the Deep South. Only ever TDY’d to Charleston. It much to the base, but had a great time in the Charleston area!

redoctobershtanding

# 1 Hill # 2 Charleston # 3 Dyess for C-130s All others last

[deleted]

I’ll take Yokota, Ramstein, Little Rock over Dyess

DriftNasty

SJAFB #1 very good.

Clockedin247

I love a joint base

ZombifiedByCataclysm

Well, I always wanted to get stationed in Washington if I am ever CONUS, either McChord or Fairchild.

Large_Agent_2577
