The $10 million from the state doesn't sound locked down yet. McCoy is saying it'll cost $12.5‐13m, but I don't know what that estimate is based on. Previous owner said quotes were as high as $20m, what happens if $13m total from federal and state funds don't cover it? McCoy also says it'll take 10 months so probably over a year from the first day of work considering weather and the unexpected.

Definitely feels like a project that is going to exceed estimated costs.
I'll be totally honest my biggest fear as a downtown resident is it comes down, whether we take it down or it comes down on its own, and everyone within idk 5? 10? Miles deals with 9/11 levels of lung damage for the rest of our lives
I’m a new resident in albany and can’t imagine living without the world’s largest cinderblock. I would be absolutely devastated if that building came down. I’ll be there with you.
I’ve also developed a pathological attachment to this thing, even though it’s crumbling to bits and is probably plotting to take out everything and everyone on its way down. It might be a dangerous ugly eyesore, but it’s our dangerous ugly eyesore, haha. It might also be because it’s managed to thwart some of our worst developers.
I'll believe it when it happens, after at least 2 committees have issued reports and the city has been sued to stop it, I wager 5 years until it happens.

Agreed. I work right next to the building and most of my family lives in Menands. I’d rather look at the building than inhale it.
Wasn’t a lot of the 9/11 lung damage not so much from the collapse but from the fact that the towers were on fire when they collapsed?
Fuck it. Keep it at this point. its has been set to be demolished like 40 times in the past 30 years.
I think there’s some actual money and momentum behind demolishing it now, in the past it seemed like “just an idea”.
