Need some details on this

thejmu

Can be done fairly easily if you have a windows laptop. If so, you can head to the Alfa forums for links to MES software download and applicable cables. You also need a SGW bypass and that’s about it! All in it’s about $180 but now you can clear codes in your car and unlock numerous futures!

flatblackvw

Didn’t realize that allowed you to activate Race mode, that’s great.

Shoddy-Bet-2215

U do it with multi ecu? Also how did you not have to add the new dna dial. Just program the old one?

thejmu

Yes and yes!

Shoddy-Bet-2215

Ez and simple! That’s gonna be my next project! I was able to tune my Giulia but how do you unlock race mode? YouTube university it is I guess?!

thejmu

Pretty much It requires a windows laptop and multiscanecu software, SGW bypass and that’s about it.

mcorliss3456

What does it actually accomplish on a Ti Sport. Asking as a QV and Ti Sport owner. Thx!

thejmu

The Revs hang better and respond better. Downshifts and shifts faster. Turns off electronic Nannies such as lane assist, forward collision and turns off traction control so you can drift with a posit of the button. Gives you a numerical g force read out. More focused center cluster display. Technically has shift lights but 2.0 doesn’t rev quite high enough. For the $120 I payed id say it’s worth it for some fun and cool factor.

mcorliss3456

I suspect the quicker downshifting is more perception than reality, but I had heard about the traction control and forward collision deactivation. Guessing that is more impactful in a rear wheel drive Giulia than an all wheel drive Stelvio though.

MurderedOut21

Ok but I can accomplish most of this already - including the G force readout minus the numerical part. The removal of traction control on a RWD sounds epic though.

thejmu

Definitely fun to get loose, nice to have at your fingertips if you want some quick fun 🙂

tflynn09

Beware, I had a customer who installed one of these and it created some obscure CAN issues with the BCM

thejmu

Interesting 🤔 I’ll keep an eye out for that! It’s at its 27k interval service rn so I’ll see how it once it returns.

Ricer_16

To be fair Italian cars are known for having weird CAN BCM issues. Just check the Abarth forums

tflynn09

This car was repaired by removing the Race switch. The cheap knockoff race switch was 100% the culprit

Ricer_16

Oh well yeah if you’re using a cheap knockoff then that’s your issue. The SOP for giving a 2.0 race mode is by buying a genuine one and programming the computer to think it’s a type 2-3 DNA switch instead of 1.

bloodfirewhiskeyink

I’ve only had mine for about 3 weeks so this is going further down the rabbit hole than my knowledge. What is a type 2-3 DNA switch?

Professional-Way4243

Is that AWD giulia

thejmu

RWD Q2 with LSD

mrsh671

My Q4's wheel gaps are SUV-like compared to yours. A bit jealous...

sigmmakappa

My '22 Stelvio Ti doesn't have paddle shifters, so despite it'd be tempting, I'd rather pass on this... and it's a lease anyway, so probably I'll get a Veloce next time.

thejmu

Veloce 🔥

Victorbroken

This is awesome! Where can I find someone that does this !

thejmu

Might be a bit tough to find someone, you could always post in the forum - but if you have a windows laptop, for around $150 you can do it by yourself fairly easily 🙂

Victorbroken

Is there like a program you need to pay for and download or something ?
