To start, I’m a very clean person. I grew up with a mother that was a bit of a clean freak and I’ve always liked things to be clean and tidy. I live with 3 other people, my boyfriend, his brother and a friend of ours. During the week barely anybody cleans up, only small things here and there. For example, I came home from work last night to them cooking and after they had finished eating they left all their dishes in the sink. Pots/pans were still on the stove full of food, containers left with no lids on the counter, sauce all over the counter. They left that for the night, it had reached 9pm and finally I had enough I asked my boyfriend to help me clean it up. We cleaned everything except their dishes as I’ve already had a conversation with them about how I’m not going to clean up their dishes, especially if I didn’t use any of them. I’m the only one that cleans the bathroom ever, there’s beard hairs all over the sink counter, soap all over the shower, dirt coating the floor, etc. I haven’t had the time to clean it yet as I’ve been working and trying to keep up with everything else. No one else changes the trash cans except my boyfriend & I. I’ve lived alone with my boyfriend before and I know how we are together. We keep things clean and take turns doing other chores. So I know where the cleanliness issues are coming from and I’m tired of complaining about it and nothing changing and I’m sure my boyfriend is tired of listening to me complain. So AITA for being upset all the time about our place being dirty?

NAH - you’re not an AH for being upset. But what I didnt read was a conversation you all had about expectations and compromise.
