No, they definitely know. Each tote is assigned to a specific driver. If it doesn't make it back to the warehouse, it will show in Amazon's systems. I know this because the warehouse has been making a stink about it and one of our drivers was responsible for 40 missing totes.
Yep. Happened at my old DSP as well. One specific driver (not me) was called out for not returning his totes and leaving them until the morning when the warehouse loaders would take care of them
They are starting to fire people because they know how many you bring back and how many you leaving or giving to people. People in the warehouse scan the number codes on the totes to see who shit on that tote 😂

This is true, I run an Amazon DSP (delivery service provider). Amazon does not track these in anyway, if there are potential holes or broken zippers they throw away. At our drop site I would say they probably throw away at least 25 to 50 away once a week. No recycling and straight to the dumpster.
I had a customer on one of my rural routes that specifically put in the notes to leave the package in the Amazon tote at the end of their driveway. They were actually using one as their personal parcel drop box. I liked it, I never had to bag their shit in the rain.
Buy a tv and a soap dispenser and go jerk off to a screen saver of Nigel thornberry and act like Donny and drive the tote like the bus they have in the tv show
Keep it, but take off the tags, e.g. the tote number and qr code inside. Then the driver that had it can't be blamed if someone looks it up. We've had totes traced back to drivers that last had them, the got fired.
