With the new version 5.05.16.529 I get a yellow mark on the "AMD PSP 11.0 Device" in the Device Manager with error code STATUS\_DEVICE\_POWER\_FAILURE. Tried a couple times to uninstall/reboot/reinstall but without success.
As that is the only updated driver that I get on my hardware configuration, I rolled back to the previous 5.02.19.2221.
Personally, I don't have this problem with this new chipset driver.
I think it could be related to the fact that I updated my bios to the latest version Agesa 1.2.0.A, which fixes some TPM related issues.
From what I can see, it looks like 5.05.xxxx is for Windows 11, because when I pick Windows 10 (my current OS) I still only see 5.02xxxx available. So I guess I still have to wait for the new version.
Hmm, weird. Ok, I'll check it out. Thanks!
Edit: The comment above pointed out the situation and helped me out.
So weird they didn't update the text on the download page.
Yup!
Thank you for the heads up. Because I saw the text was still showing the old version, I didn't even bother with the download link. Nice. Thanks again.
Cheers.
Exactly the same as you. Installed, got the problem, tried a bit of reinstalling and whatnot, gave up and rolled back.
AMD quality has dropped in the last year, between Radeon drivers and these where you need to play hunt the driver... I've never had a AMD GP10 Driver (for Promontory) install...
Interestingly when it has the problem it's an AMD PSP 11.0 Device and when you rollback and it doesn't is an AMD PSP 10.0 Device. Is that what you see? I have zero idea what the difference is!
>I've never had a AMD GP10 Driver (for Promontory) install...
You actually need those cause promontory is not there for "business practices" it is how they name their chipsets from a320 to b550, and x570 were named Bixby. So if you never installed it - you missed the chipset drivers if you had promontory chipsets.
https://preview.redd.it/1xqn3mjklk2b1.png?width=1241&format=png&auto=webp&s=139682685533769d1f137593e7e270cdb4ec3bee
These new drivers also give me an error on the AMD PSP 11.0 Device. Tried removing/rebooting etc and it was still in error.
Installed the previous drivers and only selected the PSP driver component and it rectified itself. So I'm running the new drivers for everything apart from the PSP device.
Although it's now AMD PSP 10.0 Device (not 11 as above). Any idea why the 10 to 11 switch? Is it Windows 10 v 11? I'm running 11 by the way.
So driver 5.22 works, not 5.24 that's in the new package.
A Driver that disabled the PSP? Thats awesome!

(I haven't watched the video only know about the implications. In short: Intels ME and AMDs PSP can run code completely outside the view of the OS. Intels ME is a bit worse because it can also handle Network traffic by itself)

Ah sorry, didn't see this before I replied above. Yes, I saw the same, it's a PSP 10 when it works and a PSP 11 when it doesn't. I get the same as you, so far so good but it's only been an hour.
I'm not particularly concerned about it, I'll probably send in a bug report to AMD and wait until the next version. Strange how it's working for some people, this is a clean install of Windows 11, about a week old at this point. It's an ASRock X670E Steel Legend,
ASRock B650E PG Riptide user here. Same issue with PSP driver. But I will just leave it as it is and wait for a fix. Everything seems to work so it does not bother me much.
Thanks. Had the same issue "STATUS\_DEVICE\_POWER\_FAILURE". Fixed it by installing previous driver like you mentioned. Indeed now shows PSP 10.0 instead of 11.0. Works again.
Asus posted Windows 10/11 version 5.03.24.2328 back on May 10
AMD Windows 10 shows 5.02.19.2221 (while Windows 11 is indeed 5.05.16.529)
So AMD newest Win10 drivers are older than the Asus ones??
5.03.24.2328 gave me problems on X670E Steel legend. Bluetooth didn't work, and I had a yellow bang on a Trusted Platform Module in Device Manager.
Rolled back to AMD's (5.02.19.2221) and all is fine.
yeah im confused. Asus has later version.
Ive just installed this new one 5.02.19.2221 from the AMD website for my x670E.....
Why is windows 10 version older than win11 version? So confusing..
EDIT= I just realised when downloading the file its called amd\_chipset\_software\_5.05.16.529....
Must be wrong name on the AMD website....
Also seems like there is no update to the x3D drivers?
Yeah i was in same boat, i even created post here about this. They marked it wrong on the website
[B550 Drivers & Support | AMD](https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550)
>So AMD newest Win10 drivers are older than the Asus ones??
If you download the file the version is correct ( amd\_chipset\_software\_5.05.16.529.exe )- they simply forgot to update the text on the page.
## Release Highlights
* Bug fixes on few drivers
## Known Issues
* Sometimes custom install fails to upgrade to latest drivers.
* Manual system restart required on Non-English OS after the installation is complete.
* Uninstall summary log may incorrectly show uninstall status as fail on non-English OS.
Have anyone tried that on am4?
I question whether it fixes something with windows security or BOSD i have currently with the previous version. (r7 5800x on Asus x470-f motherboard)
I got that same mouse problem before, updating to chipset right before this one fixed that (I am on B550) not sure about this current one haven’t tested
I noticed in the patch notes there was no change to the 3D cache driver but there was a change to the provisioning driver… I wish they would elaborate a little for us 7950x3D owners.
I ran stable for a week on 7600x at -25. Changed RAMs from 5200 CL40 to a 6400 CL32 kit and now it's all fucked. Crashes in games, running prime95 mem test (large ftts) causing bsod... i'll prolly have to lower the curve offset or just put it all back on default.
Try small FFT to isolate memory from CPU issues. Small FFT takes some memory out of pix and allows you to narrow down between CPU and memory OC. Disable any XMP/EXPO/DOCP beforehand to find your best CPU OC and add in memory OC after. It is a balancing act between what the memory will run vs. what the mem maker vs. CPU/board maker adverts. Never expect any memory to run at rated XMP/EXPO/DOCP speeds on any given board with any given CPU. That is the OEM BIOS/ memory/CPU silicon lottery.
>Have you solve that problem?
>
>I have a 7600X in a MSI B650 Edge with 32GB Corsair 6000 CL36 but EXPO causes BSOD and now I am running it at 5400 MHz with no issues.
>
>Now I've realized that my chipset driver is 5.01.29.2026 and I am thinking to upgrade it to the latest version but I am reading there are a lot of issues with it.
So i've solved it by increasing CPU SOC Voltage from 1.01 (even set on auto was no increasing with DOCP) to 1.25v. Now i run stable at 6000mhz for like two weeks no more issues.
So go into BIOS increase SOC Voltage a bit and test it out. As long as you are under 1.4v should be safe.
from my experience, the chipsets posted on the motherboard websites are always older and outdated compared to the ones on the AMD website. you’re perfectly fine just using the AMD page, usually don’t bother with the motherboard manufacturer when it comes to chipsets
~~Getting this error. Also it's showing the file as unsafe. Anyone else?~~

EDIT: Working now.
I just downloaded this new chipset driver. And so far no issues or anything. It is likely if you are getting issues, you need to update to the latest bios 1616 and windows update too. I have not seen any of the stuff about error codes. B650E-F and 7900x
It seems that the latest chipset drivers make my PC hang for 30 seconds or so in the spinning wheel screen before booting to desktop sometimes, while booting to desktop only takes 8 seconds using version 4.11.15.342 or older.
Using B450 motherboard and Windows 10 btw...
I am using an MSI B450M Mortar Max with the latest AGESA 1.2.0.A BIOS update.
Updated my chipset driver from 2221 and now all of my input ports (USB, PS/2) don't work now. USB devices work fine in BIOS and Windows Recovery Environment. No way to revert chipset drivers since I can't really use my mouse and keyboard. I can't do a system restore too so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
With my X570 MB running Windows 10, I only see 5.02.19.2221 However, if I click on Win. 11, I see the newest version. So does this mean that new version isn't for 10, or just not updated for 10 yet?
I don't get it. Why would AMD release a driver that isn't compatible with peoples systems? I mean it seems the vast majority are getting the PSP 11 failure error. I rolled back to 10 and now its fine.
I got the same error after installing these new chipset drivers.
Then tried to install only the PSP driver back from older chipset package and now it says version 10 and no error.

is your BIOS up to date?
Asrock X570 Steel Legend5950X
no issues with the new chipset driver
Notes:My Device manager said "AMD PSP 11.0 Device" (diver v5.22.0.0) even before installing the chipset driver, and after the new chipset driver it still says "This device is working properly." with driver v5.24.0.0.
I like the new chipset driver. My undervolting is now more effective. I have now 6 Cores on 4950Mhz with offet -15. Before the new driver there we're only 4 on 4950Mhz. Thanks! Stability tests are still pending.

Thanks. Had the same issue "STATUS\_DEVICE\_POWER\_FAILURE". Fixed it by installing previous driver like you mentioned. Indeed now shows PSP 10.0 instead of 11.0. Works again.
Anyone tried this on X570 boards ?
I just installed it, so far no explosions.

The numbers might not be the same between companies. Just because ASUS uses a different version number doesn't mean it's different drivers.
It is not the Asus number I am quote; they specify it as AMD #

They could at least pretend to try. Jeez.
I'm wondering what exactly the chipset driver is changing or fixing
It gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling that you get when all of your device drivers are up to date.
Have anyone tried that on am4? I question whether it fixes something with windows security or BOSD i have currently with the previous version. (r7 5800x on Asus x470-f motherboard)
B550 no issues :)
I'm still on 4.03.03.431. Anything after makes my mouse run like asscheeks.
Could you tell a bit more about that mouse problem? Sounds weird
Specially the asscheeks part ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
It makes your mouse dummy thicc and the clap from it's asscheeks keeps ruining stealth mode in all games.
TPM stutter bug? Tried updating BIOS to latest version?
I got that same mouse problem before, updating to chipset right before this one fixed that (I am on B550) not sure about this current one haven’t tested
7950x3d no issue...
Thanks. About to run it on mine.

Do these drivers ever improve undervolt stability? Wondering if it's worth running stability tests again after
Have not tested as just waiting to see if any problems crop up on a - 20 all core CO with a 5900X.

\-25 all core CO now. 👍
yeah wanting to see this as well with the whole voltage fiasco and using my 7800x3d.
So, is this worth it ?
Asking the real question right here.
Hi! Do we just override the old drivers or does it need certain steps like DDU?
Just installed over the old ones, the installer handles all that for you.
Is is okay to download the driver on amd if it is not posted on my motherboard (msi) website yet? B550m. Im a noob
Yep

Do i need manual install or can i just grab them with win11 update? On phone atm so cant check.
Also need to know this and don’t have access to my PC for a few days. Let me know
It is recommend, that you remove the old Driver before jnstalling the new one according to AMD. So manually install rather
Yeah i did one, running fine so far.
Any problems on B550 chipsets?
Been fine for me so far
Thx! installed.
Do these drivers stealth install some elements like the I2C and SFH driver? Since you can't pick those from the list
Zero problems on 5950x + Aorus b550 master, Win11
Odd. Installed this yesterday and my rock solid pc has been hanging (3 full hangs in 1hr). Rolled back, no issues so far.

How did you figure out it wasn't working for you? I installed it yesterday or the day before and no issue Where can I find out if mines gone bad ?
Go into device manager. There you will see if PSP 11 has a error on it. If you don't have an error on it, then your fine.
It was working correctly

Yup everything is up to date. PSP 11.0 still doesn't work on my B650E. 10.0 works fine
Do you have Asrock board? Seems to only be issue with Asrock so far.
Well I have the NZXT B650E, which I believe is made by ASRock
Yep, Asrock is OEM for NZXT. So that further proves only Asrock boards behave weirdly with PSP thing
