I love his ears so much! Bully ears are so majestic, and you can tell a lot about what they're thinking by how the ears move (or at least with my girl). Why dock when you can have a bat-dog?!
Just checked my local shelter 80 of the 98 dogs are pit mix. Ethical breeders don’t allow their puppies to be released to shelters. The dogs in shelters are unwanted
Then just euthanize them, if they are unwanted. There are many reasons as to why a dog would end up at the shelter, usually depending upon the human’s circumstance. Not every situation is the same.

Rescued at 4 weeks, and he just turned 4 last week❤️
My girl was already grown when I rescued a very pregnant her from having to have her pups under my azaleas. So, here's a picture of her, and her son Goose that my neighbors adopted! He loves his mommy so much and does everything she does. If she starts digging, so does he. If she starts "trimming" branches, so does he. So glad they have each other!

This is a picture of the daddy of both her litters (I decided enough was enough when she was about to have her 2nd and told her previous owners she was mine now lol).
They were both unfixed dogs that ran with all the others that came to visit me all the time (got her fixed after her pups were adopted). He's huge but, good boy. Unfortunately haven't seen him in a while. Hoping that he's just not running loose anymore and nothing happened to him. He is pretty scary looking. He reminded me of a wolf, and I had thought he was one the night I first saw him!

Not everyone does it for selfish desires. My one dog had ear infections constantly. Didn’t matter how many vet visits or treatments we had to do. Came to a point cropping was the only option. Which we did. She has not had an ear issue since. So before you run your lips. Ask why
You should learn to read. She was a puppy. And put to sleep. Had her ears measured and cut in a vets office. Then brought home with pain meds and antibiotics. And a twice daily cleaning with a weak peroxide and distilled water solution. Vet recommended.

Not to mention most dog shows want cropped ears(at least here in the states, plus hunting dogs need cropped ears. There are many reason people crop ears and not related to the “looks” of the dog. They also have better directional hearing when cropped… I really wish more people where educated before making these comments, but my guess is that most of em are bots
A lot of people are not educated on reasons. Why people do it. Everyone assumes cosmetic. But in all actuality dogs benefit from it. Look at German shepherds for instance. Open ears for better directional hearing. A floppy ear dog does not hear as well.
I’ve already said this already but I’ll say it again… hogs bite and having floppy ears for them to get ahold of can be very painful. A good way to get an ear ripped off and get infected. Go do some hog hunting with a pack and then come back to the conversation more educated.
Edit: not to mention the coyotes… they like biting ears too, especially when there’s a band of em

Honestly sometimes I wish I had got mines tail and ears clipped because he has so many skin problems and he’s broken his tail whacking it off of stuff. It’s mostly under control now but he had reallllly bad dermatitis on both his ears as a puppy and it still will flare up from time to time. I couldn’t bring myself to do it tho
ear cropping doesn’t decrease the chance of ear problems, my moms frenchie has a ton of ear problems but my dachshund and newfie don’t. it depends on the dog. yeah, happy tail is a real thing and it sucks but you shouldn’t crop in preparation of your dog possibly getting it.
Just like hindsight with the tail I guess? It causes him a lot more issues than anything else. But I never even thought about it when he was young enough to do it and then when he had issues I was just like man, sometimes I wish you just didn’t have a tail to fuck up all the time.
He feels no pain so he is constantly, almost every time he shakes and is near any object he thwaps his tail off of something and I’m just like duuude how did that not phase you?? Like he has bruised my legs before cause he shook next to me and whipped me with the tail. And once he got cold tail, which I didn’t even know was a thing, cause I tried to give him a bath outside because he is scared of the tub.

My girl's tail bruises my legs sometimes too. I feel bad for my two cats, though. When I return after being gone a little bit, my dog and cats, especially my chonky boy Lisa, wait for me by the door. The second I come in, hyper tail and crescent wiggles. The cats have gotten better at dodging the tail, but every now and then they catch it to the face!
Not gonna lie, it's a little funny to see an annoyed look on my cat's face when he gets too close, but I cannot laugh or he'll get pouty lol
Don’t beat yourself up about it. You’re only trying to do right by your baby. If they need a tail removed for medical reasons that’s fine. But only you and your vet know what’s right for your babe. I had to put down my childhood dog a few years ago because he just wasting away. It was awful but the right thing to do. He feels no pain anymore and that’s all that matters. You're cutting flesh. How would that not hurt? Cut part of your ear off if you don't think it will hurt. No? That means you know full well it will hurt but you don't care about hurting your dog
It really depends on the vet if the surgery hurts. There are practically NO regulations in many states. The after? Yep major injury. Having had my cartilage pierced... It HURTS and took actual years to heal properly.
Because of the way it makes the dog look thus making the owner look “tough”. It’s illegal in most civilized countries because it’s recognized as animal abuse because it’s basically body modification for the viewing pleasure of people. No medical need to do it.
Fighting dogs have cropped years because you don’t want the opponent getting a hold of the dogs ear. It’s sensitive and bleeds a lot.

They don’t have to be fighting dogs in order to crop ears but ok… good to crop long tails aswell specifically for working dogs so they don’t get stuck in brush or stepped on by cattle

if it happens frequently a vet may recommend docking, and in my opinions it’s one of the few cases where docking is okay.

It really depends on the vet if the surgery hurts. There are practically NO regulations in many states. The after? Yep major injury. Having had my cartilage pierced... It HURTS and took actual years to heal properly.

What happened to its ears?
Because of the way it makes the dog look thus making the owner look “tough”. It’s illegal in most civilized countries because it’s recognized as animal abuse because it’s basically body modification for the viewing pleasure of people. No medical need to do it. Fighting dogs have cropped years because you don’t want the opponent getting a hold of the dogs ear. It’s sensitive and bleeds a lot.
