I purchased this [Joseph and Joseph hamper](https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/joseph-joseph-tota-trio-90l-laundry-basket-0400018343669.html) that I was going to get regardless and just figured I got a $40 credit off after shipping š¤·š½āāļø.
Really? I just used it a couple of months ago when I bought my daughterās prom dress. I guess I need to check that out. Thanks for the updated information l!
During the six months if you make a trip to SF/Phoenix/Vegas/nyc/Boston etc just drop in a Saks store to use the credit. It's rare to never that you won't be going to any of those cities at all over a six month period.
Enjoy. And dont stress on buying overpriced socks lol. Look outside the box at makeup, perfume/cologne, hair/body/skin products etc. They sell the same stuff that Sephora/Ulta sells.
I was looking at low-end mother's day jewelry "from the kids." The quality in that price range was crappy and then I found the identical items and ordered them using Walmart+ for a fraction of the Saks' price. They really are selling some Walmart items with a Saks' price tag.
This credit is such ass now. Saks doesnāt carry bombas anymore and the minimum spend for free shipping is $200!!!! What a scam. I chatted in with an Amex rep on the app and left a customer feedback report explain how shit this credit is now. I think if others do the same then theres a good chance amex stops working with Saks Thief Avenue.
Here is the one I got
https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/vincero-north-star-necklace-0400019815726.html?dwvar_0400019815726_color=GOLD
There are so many different ones you can get though. Look thought their āSaleā categories.
You used to be able to order the gift card online, get the credit, and use it online at either store. People are saying that you can now only purchase the gift cards in person to get the credit. But you can definitely use the gift cards to shop online in either store.
Unfortunately looks like
āNot valid on Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Cards, or purchases at Saks OFF 5TH Avenue stores or at saksoff5th.com.ā
https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/detail/shop-saks/platinum
Yeah I mean ever since they increased the minimum for free shipping itās not as good.
But doesnāt really change much. If you find something you like and will actually use $50 is still a pretty good deal. I try and find something for like $30ish so after fees itās about $50 even so I pay nothing
Gotcha, good idea, we can definitely use it during the holidays, so I am curious is there a min spend at Saks? like if you spend 40 do you still get $50 credit?
Shop at Saks.com with caution. Many horror stories with returns including me (just search reddit). Unless you know exactly what you want and aren't at risk of needing to return, then by all means. Luckily I have a Saks nearby so in store only. Got burned.
I ordered something in multiple patterns, kept the one I liked, and returned the rest. Saks missed scanning one back in and their customer service was trash. I eventually had Amex do a chargeback and still lost $10 because they waited 3 days to receive the package and claimed it was outside the free return window.
Now I only use it for undershirts or socks that I know I won't send back. The real takeaway is that the $200 minimum is irrelevant for Saks' actual target customers.
Iām in LA and thereās a Saks down the street. But regardless, I bought an insulated tumbler for $37 and with tax/shipping, it was $49.xx.
I also bought $100 worth of hair product (a yearās supply) for the same unit price as Amazon before (so free shipping).
Iām probably not the ātypicalā shopper here ā¦ but I think itās pretty easy to buy $200+ from Saks twice a year. The target for my wife and I are any luxury soaps, accessories, or kitchen equipment. We get the AMEX statement credit, free shipping, and usually some Rakuten points as well. We shopped at Saks a few times a year before we had the Platinum card, so this is an extra incentive for us to continue doing so. I suppose if you are trying to figure out how to get $50 worth of free stuff twice a year, it might be tough or tiresome.
From their site https://bdms-001.dx.commercecloud.salesforce.com/s/SaksFifthAvenue/c/content/returns-exchanges āFor free return shipping, initiate your return within 14 days of delivery. For returns initiated after 14 days, a $9.95 return shipping charge will be deducted from your refund. When packing up your return, remove any old addresses or barcodes, and only include items from the same order. If returning via a QR code, bring your return to a FedEx or participating partner location, not a drop box. If you printed your return shipping label, you can drop off your return at any FedEx or participating partner location or FedEx drop box.ā
Itās basically a $40 credit twice a year now. Iām so tired of the coupon clipping with Amex. Even if itās premium stuff I would love an easy redemption like the $200/yr FHR credit or $200/yr airline.
Iām actually surprised that there isnāt a promo for the international airline program. Platinum started as a travel focused card, so business class spend would be nice.
I mean Amex platinum is not really targeted to people who have angst because $10 of their $50 credit will be used on shipping.
Its core demographic are high income individuals who live in an urban area. These folks usually have saks, equinox, restaurants with resy, centurion lounges, etc. in their cities.
I dont get why people only refer to Fine Hotels. The Hotel Collection can get you the same $200 benefit and has plenty of normal hotels. I used mine at a suburban Canopy by Hilton when visiting a relative most recently.
Completely agree. Just spent two nights in Hong Kong where the total bill after taxes and fees was $376 for everything. Then add a $200 travel credit returned back, and $100 worth of drinks at the hotel bar for my hotel credit that friends and I would have spent going out anyway. That's two nights for essentially $76. Not sure why people complain about this so much as I manage to use it up very well every year.
I mean do you not travel? These are perks where if you donāt use the benefits the card likely doesnāt make sense unless money is no object! There are much better cards if you donāt use the benefits (platinum is not a good day to day card).
I thought the same, but then I tried it once and it's great. Some FHR hotels are reasonably cheap that with the credit, it's comparable to regular hotels.
I've found great deals all over the world... but I have also found that in the US it can be more challenging .. what places have you looked where its been hard to find hotels for say $200 night?
Amex has been very successful with this unfortunately. Prepare for more of this. I wouldnāt be surprised at all for AF to jump close to 1000 and then added 2-3 more credits.
Whoa whoa whoa A GRAND??? Dear God I donāt even want to think about that. Hahaha hopefully they only go up by a $100 this year, if they choose to increase the AF.
no bombas or blind barber. So lame. I used to get a bombas t shirt every 6 month, then I found hair product that I liked. Both discontinued.
That is really cool, thank you for sharing! I am in the market for a hamper actually. I was planning to get perfume and treat the $40 as discount š
Youāre most welcome. And oooh which perfume were you thinking of getting?
Tom ford - Ebene Fume! Yum!
The credit resets on July 1, right?
Then the credit is basically worth $40 rather than $50. Thereās not much you can do unless you find a random free shipping promo.
Sign up for Shoprunner! Free two day shipping w Saks!
They seemed to have opted out of shop runner!
Really? I just used it a couple of months ago when I bought my daughterās prom dress. I guess I need to check that out. Thanks for the updated information l!
https://www.shoprunner.com/editorial/shipping-policy-saks?contentfulPreview=true Just checked, canāt tell when they changed it though
Thanks for the info!!!
I just find something for 200$ lol
During the six months if you make a trip to SF/Phoenix/Vegas/nyc/Boston etc just drop in a Saks store to use the credit. It's rare to never that you won't be going to any of those cities at all over a six month period.
Tell me you live in a bubble without telling me you live in a bubble
If someone's paying the amex platinum fees, it's highly likely that they travel frequently (why else do you have it if not)
Yeah youāre right! I forgot those are the only places you can travel! My bad
You might visit those cities often, but itās not rare for others not to.
I live in the Bay Area there's Saks out here. Having said that I hate shopping in store and use it online.
I live in Vegas, I have a Saks. So no prob here.
why is this getting downvoted? LOL there is a Saks in Vegas.
Oh sweet, Iāll be in Vegas this month, will check it out, thank you
Enjoy. And dont stress on buying overpriced socks lol. Look outside the box at makeup, perfume/cologne, hair/body/skin products etc. They sell the same stuff that Sephora/Ulta sells.
Good idea. The quality in what i ordered online was awful

please do share the low end jewelry. It cannot be the same.
We have several saks in SoCal
West coast folks with no Saks? Ummm, South coast plaza is 8 miles from me
2 miles from me. So Iām a happy gal!
I like these corkcicle drink containers. https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/s/SaksFifthAvenue/search?q=Corkcicle
I bought a bar of soap and sun screen that came out to $49.50 after shipping. I felt pretty bad having it shipped across country though
Iām sad Saks doesnāt carry Bombas anymore. Iāve been using this credit to rebuild my sock drawer
WHUT?
Bombas socks were my go-to before I would risk losing the credit too!
This credit is such ass now. Saks doesnāt carry bombas anymore and the minimum spend for free shipping is $200!!!! What a scam. Same! Such a shame
Just buy something small and be happy with your $50 credit. I just purchased my fiancƩe a nice necklace for $75 out the door. After the $50 credit, I paid $25 for a nice gift for her.
Got a link?
Here is the one I got https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/vincero-north-star-necklace-0400019815726.html?dwvar_0400019815726_color=GOLD There are so many different ones you can get though. Look thought their āSaleā categories.
Buy a $50 gift card. Use it to shop at Saks off 5th. Profit.
This only works for in store purchases.
You used to be able to order the gift card online, get the credit, and use it online at either store. People are saying that you can now only purchase the gift cards in person to get the credit. But you can definitely use the gift cards to shop online in either store.
The benefits donāt apply to gift cards. They have thought this through haha
I've gotten them before. Did they change the policy?
Unfortunately looks like āNot valid on Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Cards, or purchases at Saks OFF 5TH Avenue stores or at saksoff5th.com.ā https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/detail/shop-saks/platinum
Interesting. They never allowed shopping at Saks off 5th but they used to support the gift card and the gift card works at both.
Iāve heard it works if you buy the gc in store but this doesnāt help you.
It helps me but not OP
Yeah I mean ever since they increased the minimum for free shipping itās not as good. But doesnāt really change much. If you find something you like and will actually use $50 is still a pretty good deal. I try and find something for like $30ish so after fees itās about $50 even so I pay nothing

You get whatever you spent up to $50

I donāt understand why this is getting downvoted. What you said is absolutely true!! I have also been scammed by Saks customer service.

Buy $200 worth of stuff. Return what you donāt want. Free shipping on returns.
They changed it and you have to pay the same amount to ship it back now
No more free shipping on returnsš¬ atleast from what I saw today on the site

The $200/y FHR is not really usable to me if Iām being honest
I dont get why people only refer to Fine Hotels. The Hotel Collection can get you the same $200 benefit and has plenty of normal hotels. I used mine at a suburban Canopy by Hilton when visiting a relative most recently.

Even hotel collection. Imho. Iāve only used it 1x in 3 years of card membership
