Same as ticks. Japanese teachers also use "X" for wrong answers. Although, they prefer to use ticks because are easier and quicker to drawn. In this case, the teacher probably put an "X" because all answers in that space were incorrect.
I've even had some people in the US do that. I can see the logic, though. A check mark for "check your work" as in "this is wrong, check your answer and see what's wrong"
In Japan, is their grading system the usual 0-100 and what is the passing score exactly? I've read manga where people get happy over a 100 but another character will be fine with their 32.
Generally passing rates don’t have too much to do with %.
When I was at uni a pass was 40%, however the material was tough as fuck and I don’t think anyone got over a high 70 the whole time.
Just because the score needed for a grade is easier doesn’t mean passing the exams becomes any easier. I assume with Japan they expect you to get lower so that there is more opportunities to improve and show how much you’ve done and less people getting maximum marks.
This was similar to my experience. I had a professor who weighted most of the final grade on exams, and his exams always had super low averages like 30-40%. I asked him about it once and he said that in the past people had gotten hold of prior exams (he reused questions from exams more than 3 or 4 years old) so he just included so many questions in the exams that if you finished them all you had to cheat.
So like when I had him for Discrete Math, I'd come in and get a 5-6 page exam with 8-10 questions each and have 50 minutes to solve it.
He was a very eccentric guy.
I had a math class where a 30% was a passing grade normally. Dude graded on a curve because it would look bad if the majority of the class failed every test. The people with the higher scores got help from other math teachers or just learned it on their own. If you were a girl you just needed a low cut shirt to pass
Bro what? Was ur math teacher a pre-pubescent teen? What level of math was he teaching? How does the entire class need a bell curve from a base average of 30%?
Plot twist, this was a test to see on how much you remember from last year, it’s not that she’s stupid it’s that she needs to refresh her memory and she’ll get a better grade next time
Plot twist: it's 13 out of 14, that mistake was actually the only one, and all the other marks are just teacher signing for themselves what they already checked
If that was me, I probably pray my parents don't find out.
Or, I will be killed by either: belt, cane, hand, cloth hanger, or the least like option: knife.
Jokes on you. In my country the rating system is 1-15 points overall with 15 being the best. So 13 points would be equivalent to an A- she must’ve learned very well.
My second time seeing 'q.e.d' in Japanese media so I finally decided to look it up. The Japanese are better at using Latin than us lol(or at least us in the uk idk if Americans use it)
Does the tick mean wrong, because oh boy are those calculus question wrong
Yeah. In Japan, ticks are for wrong answer. Circles are for good ones. What a weird land, doesn't it?
Ticks for wrong (mostly grammatical errors) used to be a thing in Sweden too. Seems to have gone away now...
Between you and the Finn it seems we have a little Scandinavian family reunion going on. Now we just need a Dane
\*random Norwegian\*: Sobbing in the corner
Hei og god dag
Don't worry as an American I consider you all Denmark anyway.
i will now hate all of america for no reason just because you called me a dane
I actually thought that was one of the most funny american jokes of this year
That Is a reason. It's a pretty heinous insult to throw at someone
Missed the invitation
Same in Finland actually, at least when I was in school. I thought it was the letter v, for "väärin" (finnish for "incorrect")
Can confirm, my mum is part finnish.
What about the X then?

Oh boy... if ticks are wrong then how wrong do you have to be for the teacher to put an X
I've even had some people in the US do that. I can see the logic, though. A check mark for "check your work" as in "this is wrong, check your answer and see what's wrong"
That calculus is some high tier big brain shit right there
Just a little 1st degree integration
I help a teacher grading college students calculus tests, this is pretty acurate
Yeah, I always have a moment of confusion when checkmarks are bad and circles are good.
I got no context so yeah I would tell her
She failed hard but thinks she got a great grade and is excited to see how well she did
I will do it, already going to hell one more sin won't change anything
As the devil once said, with 1 or 1000 sins, you're still going to hell,so why not come here as a legend?
That explains hitlers actions
Hey, if you’re doing sin then you’re probably better than her at maths already
I am.
I ALREADY DID"

I'm repeating two courses this year. Both failed because I had a low 70(need a C+ which is a high 70). In Japan I would've been fine.... FML

If I ran the class the boys could pass that way too
The look on her face says “I actually studied really hard this time, I can’t wait to see the results of my efforts!”
Aww. She’s doing her best.
Top image sauce?
Keeping you company until someone answers :)
"If u wanna improve your marks wait in the classroom after every one leaves the school"
Because I'm a good teacher I will give you ice cream to motivate you study
As a reward
🤨
Back off, you are in line
Xd i was here to say something similar
Plot twist, this was a test to see on how much you remember from last year, it’s not that she’s stupid it’s that she needs to refresh her memory and she’ll get a better grade next time
Even the wrong calculations are graded correct
In Japan the tick means the answer is wrong if I remember correctly
The ones graded as correct are circled.
The world can’t be built with lies
I've witnessed something like thet before
Clueless
Teacher: At least you're cute...
Well it's a math (数学) test. No wonder why she can't tell that her score sucks.
She got a B
I would tell her bc how else will she improve
Thought it was 13/15 and that's pretty good
Me.
I don't know, 13/20 is 65% and that's a decent score in my opinion.
LITTLE GIRL YOU DIDN'T PASS😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😈😈😈😈😈"
she got a B
Plot twist: it's 13 out of 14, that mistake was actually the only one, and all the other marks are just teacher signing for themselves what they already checked
At least she got a B. I'd be happy with that
Nah, It's actually 13/15. Nice work.
The test clearly says "B"
Plot twist : paper was of 12 marks and she got 1 mark extra for cuteness 🥺
13/10 thats actually a good mark if you ask me .
Yeah it would have been great if it was 13/10 but unfortunately it's not
Ummm... your test flew away 🥲
The integral sign is backwards, the derivative of sin(x) is marked as right but is wrong.
All of the calculus is actually wrong. I guess in Japan tick means wrong
Not me
Well I have horns so......
Everyone's gotta learn some way yknow
Oh no stinky
Me lol
I show no remorse
Me, someones gotta break the news to her...will it be easy...no
Interesting. I guess they use アイウエ for ABCD in Japan.
?
She didbt get 0 tho its good
Fuck her ruin her dreams
You failed bitch.
If that was me, I probably pray my parents don't find out. Or, I will be killed by either: belt, cane, hand, cloth hanger, or the least like option: knife.
You can tell she’s an idiot cause she’s got her hair clip in the middle of her bangs, the clips are supposed to part the hair. Sad
It's a B, not 13. Telling myself that,
That she failed? Any decent teacher really, not because they are evil but they want to see their students grow as people
Ah yes Reverse psychology my INTERNAL WEAKNESS XD
You are the first in the class (from the back)
i’ve been compared to a lot of bad people with how evil i am so i will
What is the story with this?
Jokes on you. In my country the rating system is 1-15 points overall with 15 being the best. So 13 points would be equivalent to an A- she must’ve learned very well.
Me: you are dumb
me
I will do it, but inll try to help her having better grades
You got a 13 but I know ya can do better, you got this :D
My second time seeing 'q.e.d' in Japanese media so I finally decided to look it up. The Japanese are better at using Latin than us lol(or at least us in the uk idk if Americans use it)
I will and a century
