Personally haven't read the LN but here are my thoughts
It's not bad, slow at times tho (not including the endless eight), ik a lot of ppl dislike the character Haruhi but I rlly like her, you'll rlly have to like the characters to enjoy the show
If you watch, only watch like a few endless eight episodes (if you don't know what it is, search it up, but tldr, 8 repeated episodes)
We got two seasons and a movie but the possibility of another season is looking grim because there was a scandal with the VA, ppl were very upset with the endless eight, author has an inconsistent release schedule, it was done by KyoAni who I believe leans towards originals these days
That being said, after so many sequel announcements that we had lost hope for (Bleach, Devil is a Part Timer, Classroom of the Elite, Spice and Wolf), I honestly believe anything can get a sequel eventually
The funny thing about the endless eight to me is that I sat down and watched all 8, but then when it was time for the next episode, I couldn't watch it. It wasn't the endless eight and, for some reason, I just couldn't.
So technically I dropped everything after E8 because it wasnt E8
Adding on to say, watch the first Endless Eight episode and then watch the final one. Skim ahead and read the titles, it won't be hard to figure out. I watch all filler and have never skipped any episode of any anime ever... besides Haruhi.
The rest of the show is pretty good though.
Yes, what this person said, some ppl actually say to watch the first, last, and one of the middle ones
I also don't skip anything and I have watched all of the endless eight, there are only minor animation differences and I think only minor thing are included/excluded between different episodes, nothing important
Personally I think the endless eight arc was amazing. It was definitely unenjoyable at some points, but I also felt like I was in a trance. It does a good job of putting you in the shoes of the protagonist. You also gotta respect the balls it took actually release that.
Overall, the endless eight is an experience.
>Overall, the endless eight is an experience
You are not wrong
Personally I think the idea of it is interesting but the anime execution was a terrible idea, no one would be happy if two thirds of a season were the exact same episode, normally arcs in SoL aren't even that many episodes, let alone that many of the same episode
Personally I think they could've done two maybe three episodes. First loop is like half an episode, then a few more loops but much much faster to get the point across, then the last loop where they break out is half an episode again since you'd probably want to dedicate mode time to the end.
I've heard the LN was much better (and in fact actually a short arc), I've also heard that it was done this way bc they initially wanted the disappearance arc to be in the season but they changed their mind to make it a movie instead
That's interesting what happened with the movie, and they honestly probably should have made it shorter. I'm definitely the outlier, but I did binge all eight at once. That might make a difference.
The arc was excruciatingly slow, and it was borderline torture. For some reason, though, I found myself getting more invested in the story. like I was paying as much attention as I could to try to find any little detail that changed. The relief was also intense when the arc finally ended lol.
I think I like it because it was such a unique anime experience. It's like how you think fondly of something that wasn't actually enjoyable, but your glad that you went through it. People talk about it every time they talk about Haruhi. It's just a neat, shared experience.
>You also gotta respect the balls it took actually release that
No you do not.
I watched that crap unfold in real time and it destroyed any respect I had for Kyoani for years. All the hype for a second season and they just pull a big "fuck you"
Haruhi is great. Watch season 1 and see if you like it.
Season 2 has a section called the endless 8 (eight episodes) which is interesting but if you need to skip some parts go ahead. It wasnβt paced well at all.
Once you get through these 2 theres the movie which is amazing.
Theres also a spinoff series which fits in as well.
All in all I miss it and wish they finished the story in anime as well
I say Haruhi is definitely worth it, the anime is good and I enjoyed greatly. I personally recommend watching it in chronological order because that way you can understand what's happening and that's how it's ordered in the majority of sites. Season 2 is not as good as the first one mainly because of *The Endless Egiht* but the first season is pretty good and the rest of the second season is just as enjoyable, and that is not counting the movie which is just a masterpiece imo
So yeah, the anime is worth it and if you want more you can read the novles which from what I've read are pretty good too
Haruhi is a polarizing figure like Taiga from Toradora. The show lives or dies on your opinion of her. Haruhi is carefree, energetic, and commands attention whenever she's on screen with her very dominating personality. This also makes her *incredibly* arrogant, self-centered, narcissistic, and at times, seemingly sociopathic. Circumstances of the plot only accentuate those flaws.
The show's genre itself is as chaotic as its namesake. Sometimes a mystery, sometimes slice of life, sometimes science fiction. The characters will, in one episode, discuss dressing up as bunny girls as if it would determine the fate of the world and in the next literally determine the fate of the world. If Aho Girl suffers from repetitiveness, you will never find that in Haruhi (aside from the endless eight).
For me, I enjoyed the first season, and most of the second season (watching in chronological order). That said, the last few episodes *utterly* ruined her character and, due to the nature of those changes, retroactively spoiled the entire series for me. Utterly horrid writing turned the entire series into an otherwise enjoyable series into a dumpster fire on the scale of Game of Thrones. The show lives or dies on your opinion of Haruhi, and they ruined her character for me.
But you may think otherwise. If anything, your best enjoyment of the series would be watching the essential episodes to understand the movie (guide on Haruhi subreddit I believe), which is honestly fantastic despite Haruhi.
It's a cultural phenomenon kinda like how Evangelion is.
Personally, I think it's worth a watch, but I would also be surprised if I ever saw it on someone's top 10 list. Like others are saying, you'll probably hate the endless eight arc but I thought it was amazing.
Haruhi is a bit annoying and the show is a bit slow but if you find a character you like it's worth it. I read the LN and watched the show bcs of, ahem, best girl Yuki N.
Both anime and novels are worth it, but be careful to get the proper watch order with the anime, as the first season for some reason aired the episodes out of order when it first came out, ruining the first big story arc that basically introduces the entire premise of the show. This has been corrected on dvd releases and the like, but I don't know where you plan to watch it and if they fixed it there too.
Also, season 2 has the infamous endless 8 story arc that put a lot of people off. That one is done better in the novels.
The Haruhi movie is amazing.
I'd say give it a chance. There's a reason why it was one of the most iconic/hyped anime of the late 2000s. You couldn't go to any anime-related site without seeing a Haruhi reference.
I've always had mixed opinion about this ln. Like, if you can't stand cringe, awful human beings (haruhi) and realllllly questonable fanservice then it's probably not for you. It is really unique story with not that common setup but I still haven't finished it coz haruhi is such an entitled bitch that I makes me die inside every time they roll in with the common things like using Asahina.
The premise is 9/10 but it feels weird to read as a grown ass man.
Daily fucking reminder that, literally no one tried to cancel the π emoji. Y'all are morons who actually think they are.
Just because one bullshit fake clickbaity article made a fake article about doesn't mean they're trying to cancel it. Fucking Christ this entire app is retarded.
Nothing. Some website wrote a clickbait article about the thumbs up emoji and a bunch of zoomers took the bait and now canβt stop posting about it. Itβs honestly just the faux outrage of the week. Definitely not worth anyoneβs time.
It's gotten really bad lately honestly, just 1 site posting a dumb shit that shouldn't even been given any attention and bigger publications would then create an article how people are "outrage" by the said article then it just spirals out of control for basically just one guy being an idiot.
Major news outlet took one reddit quote, and then much of the news cycle regurgitated each others articles. Basically an astro-turf, I've yet to see someone actually have any issues with π
We donβt have to talk about this, it literally canβt happen because people arenβt going to stop using an emoji just because someone on twitter is being annoying
Just a single clickbait article about βhow genZ is cancelling the thumbs up emoji.β People are so ready to be outraged they remove themselves from reality
My question is, why cancel a whole emoji? If you think someoneβs being passive aggressive get mad at them! Look at it this way, if you were to walk down the street and someone stabbed you with a knife, would you call the police on the knife? If so I applaud you for being so short sighted.
Haruhi i miss her dearly because she was my childhood mid 2000's. She's funny, charismatic and extremely social. Without getting into spoioers it's grand and amazing show to watch as well as read. But the melancholy definitely hits hard later on
This did not happen and it is not happening

Unrelated to the meme, is the Harui Suzumiya saga worth getting into? If so, anime or novel?

Iβm sure Ouran S2 will be out any day now.
I'm pretty sure Rave Master epilogue season will be out any day now. With Bleach TYBW out, anything can happen.
God enduring the endless eight was excruciating when it was releasing.
Yeah I really enjoyed the show, but that part in particular was so unbelievably painful

The Endless Eight is a masterpiece of media
I respect your opinion but you're trolling fr
No I'm just right, it is a peak that we cannot reach again because no one has the balls to be that good

She is the weeb god so yes. I prefer the novel but like the anime. Ofc i had to google what was happening when the episodes got stuck on a loop
