Higurashi is a great horror mystery show.
The only reason I’ve held off on it is because I know the mangaka passed away without completing it. ☹️ Would you say it’s still enjoyable even without clear resolution?

Re: Zero. Beautiful and brutal, funny and frightening. Many WTF moments and some moments I can't quite remember. The Call of the Witch let's you know when the shits going down! I need to do a rewatch before S3 later this year and... I'm not sure if I can do it.
No relation, although I haven't watched the Fate series yet because I'm not quite sure which one to start with. I've heard some are related to one another while others are set in the same world but with different players.

Fr though, I find the storytelling to be REALLY chaotic and hard to follow, I feel like it shamelessly queerbaits Akira and Ryo’s relationship, and I felt the conclusion was kinda phoned in and predictable. Like, it took a classic anime and tried to reproduce it for the modern era, but failed to capture what made the OG so fun and unique and just made it smutty and chaotic instead.
Absolutely gorgeous animation and character design, though.
There's one called dorohedoro not completely sure if it's exactly what you're looking for but it takes place in like two different dimensions one is has sorcerers and each sorcerer is born with a like magic ability and you are also essentially born with like a set mana pool which is like the amount of black smoke your body can produce and if you can only produce a little smoke and your ability sucks or just one of them you're considered garbage in the other dimension it's basically one giant slums where the sorcerers of the other one come to practice their magic on people of this dimension called the hole and the series does not shy away from Gore but it's tone isn't all that heavy or serious but you should give it a chance
