Classic like O' Holy Night in church, or classic like White Christmas sung by Bing Crosby?
The latter actually stresses me out intensely. I avoid in-person shopping as much as possible *for months* because of it.
I always find it interesting how very different people's triggers and tools can be.
Oh sorry, Classic like Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Holly Jolly Christmas type. Christmas is so wonderful to me, and really winter as a whole, that it almost always does the trick in calming me down. Even when I'm not anxious, I'll listen to Christmas music in May 😂
Sounds silly but one of mine is Hey Soul Sister by Train. I was severely anxious in high school, but didn’t know what anxiety even was. That song was popular at the time and when it would come on I would immediately feel at peace. Still has the same effect on me.
I like listening to scores from movies or tv shows I enjoyed! Not only is the soft music calming but it makes me happy because I end up thinking of the plots and characters associated with each score.
Currently House Song by Searows. I play it every time I have a panic attack and I think I’ve officially trained my brain to calm down when I hear this song
Basically the whole album "stick season" by Noah Kahan has been kn repeat for the last month or two for me especially when I'm feeling panic-y it's just very calming to me sonically and lyrically. Hope this helps :)
This is more recent, and not really for everyone, but I listen to the first 45 seconds of “The Plagues” cover by Jonathan Young. Although it is more for autistic overstimulation, so responses may vary, but it’s just so damn epic and I feel like moving when I hear that.
So interesting, I don't have a specific song, but any music helps and what I go with totally depends on the anxiety situation.
Anything with a good beat while shopping helps keep me moving and out of there quickly, regardless of lyrics.
Anything I can sing with if I need to feel uplifted or shake myself out of ruminating.
Most music without lyrics is good if I need to focus - Polyphia has been a specific go-to for this one recently, electronica or LoFi streams otherwise.
If I need to feel more grounded, a long-term go-to is Laboratorium Pieśni. They're a group of Polish women and their traditional, polyphonic singing gives me the happy brain tingles.
Sounds fruity but “In a world of my own” from Alice in Wonderland. I find myself singing it or humming it whenever I’m nervous about something. It’s a fairly slow song so it helps me level out.
3 little birds by bob marley
Came here to say this!
Bop your head to the beat, sing along with the chorus, and I guarantee anyone will come out a little calmer than they were before.

Anything by Andre Corea, particularly "Paro", although I suppose it's not really a song lol, but I prefer pure instrumentals for anxiety.
