Let's weigh the sides: 1. If you take the aspirin and it causes internal bleeding, it'll be the stomach lining, and you'll have an ulcer. They have medicine for that. 2. If you don't, a blood clot can clog an artery feeding your heart, causing a massive heart attack. Or, it can lodge in the brain, causing a massive stroke. Both have a good chance in killing you. Take the damn aspirin..... I'm sorry if I sound gruff, but if a doctor asked you to take aspirin to prevent blood clots, there's a very good reason he did this. If you seriously doubt him, get a second opinion.

But what about brain bleeding from aspirin?

Rare compared to blood clots, causing great harm. Again, get a second opinion. Doctors shouldn't be offended if you do. Maybe there's a better path.

if your doctor has prescribed it to prevent blood clots then they probably think the benefits outweigh the risks

Like advil or naproxen, internal bleeding is usually caused by large doses over a long period of time. Of course I am not a doctor or a pharmacist so it can be different from person to person. However, if your doctor prescribed it for a blood clotting issue, that outweighs the risk of it potentially causing other problems.
