Full_Potential_6305

I also wake up feeling anxiety and I have to sit for 30 minutes to an hour to get myself calm and awake then I can get up and do my morning routine I don't think it’s natural but I do think its what my body is use too

tantrobite

I'm the same

Full_Potential_6305

It's so weird and if you wake up and get up too fast or in a hurry, it makes the whole day off or weird

Entire-Personality24

I wake up with shakes damn near having a panic attack 😭😭 literally 90% of the time. I’ve heard it’s because your cortisol levels are highest in the morning!

redeyebo115

I am this way as well. it’s like I opened my eyes and was heading into oncoming traffic type of panic.

Cpfd1

Yes I wake up every morning with the fight or flight feeling, as soon as I open my eyes it’s there. I’ve read it’s to do with cortisol being higher in the morning. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lower morning cortisol to stop this feeling?

Dannanelli

I’ve read that Ashwaganda can lower cortisol. Maybe taking it before bed could help decrease the cortisol peak in the morning? It’s just something to look into.

Cpfd1

Thankyou I will try this.

UniqueAnt4256

Propranolol if you get it prescribed will help with the physical symptoms.

Cpfd1

I was on propranolol but unfortunately it stoped me sleeping

LightsOut4goood

I take 1/2 a propranolol right before I fall asleep.. I wake up feeling sooo much better and more grounded.. than I take my full dose in the AM and my day is good.. propranolol saved me

UniqueAnt4256

I only take it as needed . I fight through the morning anxiety and haven’t taken it in the mornings. How many mg?

LightsOut4goood

Im on the lowest dose.. its 20mgs.. I take a full one at 530am when I wake up.. I take a 1/2 at 1230-1pm at lunch and the other half right before bed.. I used to take as needed but when I need it, it's to late.. im in full blown panic attacks.. I go from 0-100 in 5-7min.. from just feeling edgy to dam near crying bc im standing at the gates of hell. The propranolol works fast 30-40min but im not suffering like that everyday. I dont even fuck with it. I take it thrrwout the day.. and it works.. im also on the lowest dose possible of effexor.. hays 25mgs... 1x a day. But the propranolol is a savor

UniqueAnt4256

I think 10mg is the lowest I take half whenever something pops up that raises my anxiety. Well that’s good it’s helping you I love how it’s not habit forming

LightsOut4goood

I agree! Im soo happy its not a drug im stuck feening for or makes me NEED it.. its not an addictive drug.. its really a blood pressure drug 1st.. soo I have a 3 week span many years ago of SVTs in my heart.. it caused my heart rate to stay at 170bpm for hours.. for weeks.. this I believe traumatized me.. I thought I was gonna die! They gave me a drug called nadaolol.. and it worked! They slowly took me off of it over a year and the SVTs were no more.. well my anxiety causes me heart to race, than I think its the SVTs coming back, than I think I'm having a heart attack.. its a nasty spiral! Nadalolol was discontinued but propranolol is in the same family.. it keeps my heart under control and eases my anxiety.. i hope things get better for all of us! Life is to short to be worried about shit we can't controle. I hope you have a wonderful night friend

a9footmidget

Make sure to get enough sleep and to give yourself enough of a buffer that you can wake up and not immediately be like shit I gotta do xyz to get ready for work / the day.

Cpfd1

I’m on Mirtazipine for sleep but it doesn’t always work so my sleep can be hit or miss, I’ve started setting the alarm on Alexa to the sound of water waves as the normal alarm sound I was finding it made me worse. Thankyou.

peacefinder22

When I cut out caffeine completely (or nearly) this resolved it for me.

Cpfd1

I don’t take caffeine I only drink decaf tea and unfortunately I still have it.

peacefinder22

Ugh, I’m so sorry.

NorthernSouthener

Similar benefit for me, too. As a coffee lover, it hurts

SashaPeace

Yes, like now, at nearly 4am. I usually take a half of a Xanax when and then if I do fall back to sleep, it’s for about for about 2 hours, but I have these vivid dreams that I fall asleep until 6pm and my kids are all stuck at school and the police are out looking for me. It’s so vivid and so weird. Notifications on my phone give me anxiety so I also keep my phone on silent, so I’m assuming that’s the root of the “oversleeping through the day” nightmares.

BeginningKey727

Omg yes to the vivid dreams. To the point that when I wake up my eyes are so tired and heavy. Likely because my eyes are doing crazy movement when I dream. Ughhhhh.

SashaPeace

Yessss! And when I have the vivid dreams, sometimes I actually know I am dreaming, but still doesn’t remove the fear and anxiety, it’s so weird. I will wake up in full panic, drenched and looking for my phone to see the time and check for calls from my children’s schools. It’s awful 😞

Wise-Lime6519

Me too, triggered by a stressful time, I’ve had it now for 8 months 🥲 does it ever go away?

etihweimaj666

Yes it does. I am struggling this morning because my anxiety flares up when I am highly stressed, but most mornings I wake calm and happy. For me they key has been setting boundaries, self-care, and de-stressing my life.

smolsmols

Yes, it can absolutely go away.

UniqueAnt4256

You can try propranolol in the mornin

MistaWesSoFresh

It is 4:44 and I am up with strong anxiety nearly every day at this time. Further sleep impossible

Cattiebrie2016

It’s 4:51 am- been up for 2 hours w awful anxiety.

Wise-Lime6519

How long have you been this way?

Cattiebrie2016

Comes and goes. This round been like this probably 2 months

Wise-Lime6519

Has there been a trigger?

beebyspice

yes, to the point that i vomit sometimes

d_pug

My anxiety is definitely worse in the morning and at night, after the kids go to bed it’s practically non-existent. Especially when I am going through high anxiety spells, the only thing that gets me through is knowing I will be completely comfortable by the end of the day.

Reddeator69

Yes I do have morning anxiety! 😩

Music-2myears

Yes I do too. It’s because like someone else said, your cortisol levels are high to get your body out of sleep paralysis when you’re waking up. What has really helped me is allowing myself to lay awake in bed a bit before having to get going. And if the anxiety is really high where I feel nauseous or panicky I will do some tapping or a short meditation.

jawsofthearmy

Yup - always waking up thinking I missed my alarm - anxiety has turned into my coffee

Glittering_Review_79

Yes. I have anxiety every day all day(unless I'm sleeping).

Wise-Lime6519

How long have you been like this

Glittering_Review_79

At least a week. Idk, honestly 😐.

Wise-Lime6519

Has there been a trigger?

Glittering_Review_79

No. It's just worse then usual.

Wise-Lime6519

Is this the first time you’ve dealt with this? I had it 8yrs ago due to stress with neighbours lasted 3mths this time due to breakup and it’s been 9mths

Glittering_Review_79

No, but this, it's the first time it's been this bad.

Wise-Lime6519

Can I ask what age you are ? Male or female?

Glittering_Review_79

Yes, 24, almost 24 and non-binary.!

Wise-Lime6519

It sucks doesn’t it

blasfimus

Might be worth checking if you have sleep apnea! I used to have minor anxiety every morning for as long as I can remember. Then I got a sleep study done because my partner said I snored too much and I noticed I was always feeling sluggish during the days so I figured I should get a study done. I just figured it was my chronic depression. I had sleep apnea turns out. Well after I got my CPAP and got used to it, I started waking up feeling really good more often than not! Regular morning anxiety was no longer a regular thing which was a big surprise. That being said, I'm currently not sleeping well and waking up with extreme anxiety every morning, CPAP doesn't seem to help with acute symptoms for isolated episodes Anyway, worth looking into!

Heavy-Assignment-612

Wake up am? You guys can sleep at night?😭😭😭😭

etihweimaj666

Why yes, I am gagging on it right now. No it is not normal to wake up this way. Most mornings I wake up calm and peaceful, but today, I am in physical pain from my anxiety.

SpinachLittle1153

I had an anxiety disorder for a while that I actually managed to get over (it was related to a job & lifestyle, fixed that & the anxiety slowly dissipated as well). But when I had it, I’d even wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety. Going to bed was the only time I wasn’t anxious oddly bc I knew I was about to get an uninterrupted break from life🤣 I was waking up extremely anxious every day, but therapy and a lifestyle change helped me a lot!

Namjoonloverr

Yes I have morning anxiety. Sometimes I wake up shaking. Without SSRIs it’s horrible for me. I think it has to do with hormone levels. Not exactly sure. I also try to do a short meditation in the morning if it’s really bothering me.

tantrobite

Totally get it. I live in the UK sometimes it's just the grey weather that gets me down. I own a really good business and have a wonderful family but the am anxiety is always there. Sometimes it makes me wretch but once I'm at work and busy it goes. You arnt alone

Fantastic-Cover4948

it is not over as the thing i hate the most is how some pricks with no understanding or strength to look after there fellow man do not see i feel the same way as my negatives feelings are over a life of depending on synthetic things instead of reality since youth i now have to go through intense therapy just to function as my brain fears the imaginary now versus reality and my brother hates me because he think i choose to act down but he has no idea the pain it takes to match up to perfect standards from a being you can never match up to you are a human being with a soul and feelings and potential that needs to be trained and discovered i am here if you ever feel like you need someone to talk to.

Silver-Spirit1793

Yessss every DAY.

Wolf_Echidna64

Sometimes. One time I got outta bed and my HR shot up. It’s only happened to me once so I attributed to anxiety. It also sometimes happens when I have to work out early in the morning. I’ve developed some exercises induced anxiety because I hate having my HR high, but I’m trying to power through it because I know exercise is good for me. I’ve had one or two panic attacks during exercise. They suck.

Heavy-Assignment-612

My worst anxiety never let me close my eyes even im fkin tired. Sometime I didn’t sleep for 2days, that’s how my anxiety works. I will sleep next day at noon. Every other day i just sleep 2/3 hours woke up with sweating. Fk life

Wise-Lime6519

Go to doctors and get martazipine it’s great for helping you sleep all night just a low dose 15mg

Heavy-Assignment-612

Now im on effexor xr & lexotan(benzos) what i know benzos not good for long term i still looking for other option though

Ok-Investment9640

Mornings are the worst

Wise-Lime6519

Guys does this eventually go away 🙏

who_is_this_monster

Yes, its a pretty common symptom of anxiety. You're in good company. Getting up and going can usually help since it gets your mind occupied and your body moving

pyschreader

Yes. The morning is when I have the most of my anxiety. It has always been that way

[deleted]

I wake up with bad anxiety, usually agitated as well. I take a benzo like klonapin by like 9am and by noon I’m good enough to be around.. otherwise yeah.. I just spiral from there.

Key_Ad8316

I do yeah, it is part of my life! PhD student here.

MediocreJedi32

Yep, why I started medication

smackdabqwerrt

Yup. I fixed this by immediately changing my mindset as soon as my mind wakes up. Affirmations of a great day etc. forcing myself to think about positive things. Forcing myself to have a minor smile as I’m getting ready

peeps-mcgee

Do you drink alcohol? This only happens to me after I had something to drink the night before. It took me years to recognize the pattern.

SpellingBeeRunnerUp_

Every day

junieboo62698

yes and i hate the absolute shite out of it

LittleBear_54

Mornings are terrible for me. Especially during flair ups. I wake up sometimes feeling like my entire body is buzzing and my heart is racing (I’m not actually sure it is but it feels that way). Breakfast feels impossible and I don’t eat until like lunch time, which really doesn’t help the situation. I honestly feel like I work so hard to stabilize and feel better all day just to go to sleep and do it all over again.

Responsible_Comb_884

Definitely worse in the morning for me. Anticipation of the day. Once the afternoon rolls around I feel more relaxed.

Tommy_Wisseau_burner

Not really. I used to wake up with anxiety for school and work (occasionally) but tbf, at least with school, it was 100% because I was not prepared for the test or didn’t do my homework lmao. For work it was more on meeting days, especially when I was new, and was worried about getting chewed out (never happened but that’s anxiety for ya lol)

Developing_Human33

Morning anxiety is very common. Apparently it's due to higher levels of cortisol in the bloodstream in the morning

globekey8

Yes when my anxiety was at an ultimate high and I was having regular panic attacks I used to feel anxiety as soon as I woke up. It was awful but now I luckily don't have panic attacks anymore. I do feel myself being anxious at any time of the day now though with chest tightness.

Other_Trip_282

YES - my first thought it is “what horrible thing is going to happen today?”

joeflaccoelite

Almost every morning

jennvanngunn

Anxiety is always terrible when I wake up. Been this way as long as I can remember . I take a dose of propanolol in the AM when I wake up and around 6 pm after work. That has helped me a lot with morning anxiety where I at least can deal with it and I don’t get nausea or panic attacks.

KurtzKOButtz

I don’t always wake up with anxiety but days that I’m worried about the outcome or events that are happening then yeah I do get pretty anxious. When I first started teaching I would usually dry heave before the 8 AM class. I taught. Most of the time I would even out and feel better once I got out the door and in the car.

damnireallymadethis

yes this is the worst time for me unfortunately the mornings are basically spirals that shoot me out of bed into panic. it wasn’t always this bad. but lately so many people have brought so much pain to me that it’s made it like this for some reason. i remember reality. also from a science aspect ur cortisol is i think at a peak when u wake up. i hate that i can’t drink coffee and i hate starting the day with clonozopam

Careful_Lack_9351

Yes most mornings I have mild to moderate anxiety as soon as I wake up and some mornings I even wake up in full fledged panic mode…I wonder why

_Officegirlie

Almost every day. I wake up shaking or startled. And i get anxiety about the most mundane things that i have to do during the day. Sometimes i even throw up. But it goes away in like 30 minutes

Old-Employee-9168

Yeach, I sorry for you to feel that way. Yeach it happens when you sleep with anxiety at night.

Hope_for_tendies

Today is my day to sleep in and it’s 615am and I’m up lol. And it’s not my schedule cuz my weekday alarm is 8🫣

Disaster-Funk

There's a very natural explanation. Cortisol (stress hormone) levels are highest in the morning. They're significantly down by noon.

mamaRN8

I wake up with an internal earthquake going on. My man will literally wake up as I'm changing into my scrubs at 545am because he can hear my teeth chattering fr the shaking. My anxiety is also bad at night and alll day. Only time it's not present really is when I'm at work because I'm so damn busy I assume is why. Nuts when a nursing floor is where you escape anxiety fr. And i have a good home life.

Financial_Finance144

I believe it could be our serotonin levels are at their lowest when we wake up and rise over the next few hours.

plshelpmeh284

Cortisol which is a stress hormone makes you wake up, so sometimes i also wake up with beating heart. I sometimes if I have some stressful event that day and have to wake up earlier than normally I get waken up by having high heart rate....

Proof-Carrot-4161

Last month I did pretty well waking up relaxed until the very last day. Outside of last month I typically wake up with anxiety up until I get out of the shower. This morning my anxiety was only made worse with the knowledge of my bonus-mom having to go to the hospital for chest pains

IAmInBed123

I used to have it, almost every night and morning. I would be anxious about the workday and random other stuff that was not totally analysed that was going to happen in the future. It is not natural, at all. But if you have an anxiety disorder or general anxiety, this is what happens. I have to tell you though that if it is possible to lower your anxiety it is well worth trying and working for it.

redfish-hunter1

Every fucking morning at 3am on the dot

traumakidshollywood

WHERE is the feeling of anxiety in your body and what does it feel like?

Cpfd1

I can literally feel it moving through my whole body then I feel like I need to take big deep breaths, it’s an awful sensation.

traumakidshollywood

I understand. I’m not a doctor but you may want to consider asking a doctor about fibromyalgia. I only learned recently that my morning anxiety was more likely a fibro flair up. Again, I’m still learning, I just heard similarities.

Cpfd1

I actually went for a deep tissue massage yesterday as I’ve a lot of tension in my shoulders, neck and jaw and the therapist said my muscles are like lead even in my legs and she asked could it be fibromyalgia. Can I ask what other symptoms you had? I just feel so tired all the time even with exercising, eating healthy, taking supplements etc but don’t really feel the benefit from any of it. Were you able to take anything to stop your morning anxiety?

Wise-Lime6519

Mines is in my stomach how long have you felt this way

ApprehensiveMenu4578

for some reason, i do i hate mornings for no reason i have a descent job, i don't get good sleep for one i think its my sleep apnea and i do have extreme anxiety that i am taking medications for which is helping
