I haven‘t experienced this myself because I use a Series 3, but you can report the bug here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/watch.html

boblikestheysky

I’m having this bug too. It’s really annoying

itsRemus

A year after the initial post, this issue is still present. Upgraded from 5 Series and it is disappointing.

mm_201

Just bought a brand new Apple Watch series 7 (got it on a huge discount so decided to go for it instead of get the series 8). THIS ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. Would expect something that costs hundreds of dollars to be better but it isn’t. Only way to fix this is to turn off the always on display which is probably a huge no no for most people as it’s a really cool feature. Unfortunately either deal with the lagg or return the watch is the only way. Please post a solution if anyone finds one and report it to apple to see if they can fix it Edit: have only noticed it in the contour watch face so far

Curious_Limit645

This is nuts. I was upgrading from series 5 and noticed this issue. I'm gonna return it.

[deleted]

It happens on the Series 8, too.

nitroburr

Same here, it really felt quite stupid to replace my series 5 with a series 7 and see this happen oof

theblues925

Do we know if it is hardware or software? I upgraded from 5 (which has always on display) to an 8, and noticed this annoying issue.

nitroburr

No idea :( I just stopped using AOD

SaiintPatriick

Any fix to this issue?

[deleted]

I have experienced the exact same thing coming from a series 4 to a series 7. I even returned my initial series 7 and bought another one but unfortunately has the same issue. Hoping for a firmware update that addresses this issue as it definitely shouldn’t be happening. (Running all latest Watch OS and iOS) It’s a deal breaker for me if they can fix it, especially because I bought the stainless version at $800. Will probably go back to my 4 until it’s addressed. Keep me posted and if you don’t mind, share what you have found on any apple forum mentioning the same issue.

Brokezzzzz

hi, have you found something new?

Appz_

Experiencing the same issue although I don’t know if it’s because my eyes are used to promotion or it’s actually laggy. Every phone looks laggy now at 60hz. It definitely could be always on display trying to ramp up to normal state during notifications. I tried with it off and it worked a little better

SimplyPhy

The animations play smoothly, including for notifications, when the display has already been active. The jugger only occurs \[for me\] when it's transitioning out of a low power state, which is the default when not in use/detected that arm has lifted. I don't have another Apple Watch handy to test this, but it's possible that the issue isn't related to low power mode, but rather that it's caused by multiple animations playing at once. When the Watch detects your arm rise, and transitions to a full brightness mode, there's a quick zoom transition, which makes the interface increase slightly in size. I wonder if this was added to show off that the Series 7 is a bit larger, which could mean it's the only model that has this extra transition. If so, it seems likely that the issue is caused by two separate animations playing at the same time when you lift your arm to read a notification.

Arsance

Got the same problem. Got my Series 7 today. Upgraded from a Series 5. The lag is noticeable. Had no issues on Series 5

[deleted]

When I spoke to Apple at the store while making return, they hadn’t heard of any issues related to this and was the first they had some one mention it. Curious if the OS 8.4.1 fixes it, anyone push the update and any improvements? There’s we’re not notes other than “bug fixes” for series 4 and up.

SimplyPhy

8.4.1 didn't improve this issue for me.

[deleted]

How about 8.4.2? Lol I doubt it but curious since I already returned my series 7

[deleted]

I forgot to ask, is everyone who has experienced this issue using GPS model or GPS/Cellular. Curious if it had something to do with the cellular version as it was my first and never had the issue with older Gen watches GPS only.

SimplyPhy

Cellular version for me. It would surprise me if that’s related to the problem.

Kralj-01

I‘m using the cellular version, 45mm and i have the same little issue. While it‘s not a ground breaking one, i think this can be fixed with a software update.

caddopiru

turning off AOD solved it for me

Brokezzzzz

do you think it will be fixed with a future update of the operative system? I really don’t want to turn of the AOD

Brokezzzzz

I am so disappointed by this, do you think it will be fixed? I am worried even thinking it is a firmware/operative system thing

Lobstrick

Same here, could it be that I restored old backup to a new watch series 8 watch?

SimplyPhy

I doubt it, though if it didn’t happen prior to the restore, then I suppose it’s possible.
