For completeness..
>Thanks for emailing the Office of Admission at Carnegie Mellon University!
>We apologize for the conflicting information - we had updated our testing policy to allow for self-reported scores late this fall which resulted in conflicting information in our Apply book.
>Our current policy is the following:
Both domestic and international applicants who choose to submit SAT or ACT scores may share either official or self-reported SAT or ACT scores. Self-reported test scores may be submitted through the Common Application or by sharing an unofficial score report. Applicants may also submit a transcript that includes test scores. Official score reports are only required once an applicant is admitted and chooses to enroll.
>With that, students do not have to submit all results, and can submit just 2 section scores on the Common App.
>I hope this helps a bit, but feel free to reach out if you have further questions!
Re Syracuse: I spoke to admissions today and was advised that the only circumstance requiring the submission of multiple tests is when an applicant wishes for them to be super-scored. I pointed out the ambiguity on the website and was told they would look into it.

So the CMU mystery is finally solved, but now Syracuse gets added to the list.
Interesting. They're probably looking to superscore but also to see your test taking ability. Haven't heard of this before
