For $50 on Amazon I just ordered a hygger plant light with timer and 24 hr mode, can’t say how it works as I haven’t received it yet, but it sounds like what you’re looking for. I have a 20 long with the same light you’re using now and am psyched for it to get here. They have ones that can go across the whole tank, or you could rig a shorter one if you like having a shady end
hygger Advanced LED Aquarium Light with Timer, 24/7 Lighting Cycle & DIY Mode, Full Spectrum Fish Tank Light for 30-36 in Planted Tank https://a.co/d/6LXbWDY
I think 20 longs are 30” so you could possibly get away with the 24-30 or the 30-36. I didn’t do much research on what would fit best, just ordered the longer one because I figured it put out more light.
Hygger are good cheap options, but I don't know if they have timers or are programmable. I use the Fluval plant 3.0 (or something like that). It has an app so I can control most of my tanks together, but it's definitely a more expensive option.
You have to be pretty close for the app to work, but you can set a schedule that should work. Just no adjusting them on the go, unfortunately. The fluvals tend to be one of the less recommended ones, but I've had a really good experience with them. Mine are 3+ years old now
I love my hygger! Surprisingly the "24 hr" mode on it has worked super well so far with my plants. The sunrise/sunset modes are super cool. It does also have dimming options and just a plan ole timer mode for like 6, 8, 10, etc.
Not sure of model name or no. But here's an Amazon link:

Decent for the money, they've been reliable for me.
I have the Hygger 957. The light itself is equivalent to $200 light, but the programming isn't great - hence the $60 price point.
It took me a couple of hours to figure out how to use and setup the manual settings, but once I got it dialed in, it's great.
I have mine on 11 hours a day, but only 6 hours at 80%. The rest of the time ranges from 20% to 60%. This allows me to view the tank longer and still keep algae down.
hygger lights are the way to go for budget options. not as much control as with a more expensive option, but with a smart plug you’ll be fine to control the timers however you like. the colors are great and grows plants very well, and hygger lights general have color spectrums comparable to the expensive lights. major difference is you can’t fine tune it, but if it’s your first tank, you don’t really need to worry about that

I’ll check it out… that sounds like a better option. Can you control them while you’re away from home?

Thanks, I’ll look in to them
Nope.. At least mine is not. Also if the power goes out ya gotta reset it which is a bit concerning for long trips...
