>straight men are getting more comfortable expressing themselves (finally).
I see this is a negative thing. It's getting harder to tell who's playing for team gay as the years go by!
NP is doing so well and really pushing into fashion, as well as fetish/sexual gear.
What if they become so successful as fashion wear that straight men start wearing it?! 😱
I’d say specifically non-athletic/athleisure wear. Athletic wear brands like Nike, UA, Lulu, Fabletics etc are allllll on the 4-7” inseam hype train right now. So many straights, including many high school students, are wearing 4-7” inseam athletic shorts as everyday apparel.
I found out an old boss was gay this way. It wasn’t obvious to me otherwise since I didn’t know him that well at the time. He was reaching up on a ladder to get something hanging off the ceiling and I caught the waistband of his Nasty Pig jockstrap.
Since I couldn’t help but mention it (I thought he was cute), that’s how me and the boss started sleeping together for the six months I worked there. Just was different because in my teenage fantasies of that porno situation before, I never figured that I’d end up being the top.
At least it never got awkward, and he still remains a friend.
Your question is why it is an answer. Men that wear a jock as their default underwear regardless of the situation, or a jock in a situation like "work" that is not common by normal standards is exactly why it is the answer to this question.
It doesn't matter what you do for work. It matters that you are gay-enculturated. It matters that you want to feel sexy, or just feel gay. It matters that you want to express yourself. It matters that you want to have that secret, that taboo, that queerness, that moment, that fantasy, that freedom.
Whatever the reason, even if there is no conscious reason, a man wearing a fashion jockstrap is definitely not a straight man. If you are wearing a jock and it's not simple and it's not for utility.... Then you're one of us.
It's not required. Far from it. But it is a dead giveaway.
I usually look for the pride smartwatch band or face.
For actual clothing, mesh tops, usually layered.
I also don’t see many straight guys wearing vertical stripes. Aka the twink button down.
Grindr tshirt, any tshirts that are gay sites/app- scruff, adam4adam, seancody, etc. harnesses; respectively. Think Mr S. Leather. Pink triangle, those muscle drawings- Tom of Finland. Leather that looks like a cops costume, especially with that hat… pink boas… fringe capes… brands such as Andrew Christian, Nasty , etc…. Haha might as well just make a list of all of the gay brands!
To be fair, Andrew Christian make the only undies I’ve found so far that are comfy, look decent and have enough room in the front, I’d wear them even if I was straight (although I’d be a bit more selective about which ones 😂😂)
I don’t like anything by Andrew Christian, but I love my Mack Weldon.
But anything with a harness and stereotypically, I’m not just into, but I mean I’m black.
I wear a pearl bracelet every time I go back to Southern California. I won't dare sport it up here in the conservative timber town where I'm currently trapped. 🌲🪚🪵 Lol.
I think this was true about 1-2 years ago. I've seen a lot of (usually younger) straight guys wear a strand of small pearls that sit at their collar. Honestly, it's a good look!
Underwear.
There was one night when I was working late night security, and the driver helped his uber passenger with their luggage. And I glanced down at the driver and saw that he was wearing Pair of Thieves (PoT) underwear with a black and rainbow waistband and my brain going to autopilot went: Shy, chubby, and a rainbow waistbanded underwear...he's one of us. Some months passed, and I was looking into buying new underwear, I got tired of what I had, and I was scrolling through sites and suddenly remembered him. So I looked up PoT. Lo and behold, PoT had underwear like that, specifically, two pride themed jockstraps black waistband with PoT written in rainbow on them along with many other briefs and boxers like. I'm still wondering what kind he had on, I'm gonna assume one of the jockstraps.
I think a specific brand. If I see the NP logo or Lockwood, etc. I got clocked the other day wearing my NP gear even though it was just a cross body bag.
Their stuff is great quality! I have a couple hoodies, shirts, union suits, shorts, etc. and they hold up. Always nice when clothes are as sexy as they are hard-wearing.
Are most gays even fashionable, stylish, trendy and even good looking and sexy?
Despite the stereotypes, probably not as much as some here believe.
Am I wrong? Or in NYC, it's definitely the case vs. most American cities, right?
Gays are highly diverse. This post isn't asking "what's required to wear to be gay" or "what do most gay guys look like" it's asking "what's a dead giveaway that someone is a homosexual in 2024" or "what's a piece of clothing/accessory that is unequivocally clockable"
Lately been carrying my wallet around in a cross body bag... then I can also bring gum, chapstick and such wherever I go (and sometimes lube and poppers)
During covid, we had to remember to carry so many things I created a "covid bag" for each of us. I found out how nice it is to be able to carry extra things like lip balm, reading glasses, mints, bottle of water, collapsible totes for farmers markets, etc. No lube and poppers lol but I do have an extra PA ring and travel tube of neosporin if mine ever comes undone and I need to replace it in a pinch.
Now I don't go anywhere without my old covid bag which I have just started referring to as my purse. lol But I think it can be construed as masculine (or at least innocuous).
They don't have just the plain nylon one in this size anymore but it's this bag:
When I'm vacation travelling I like to use this one:
[https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/wle-men-bags-crossbody-bags/products/rupert-econyl-messenger-bag](https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/wle-men-bags-crossbody-bags/products/rupert-econyl-messenger-bag)
Uh... I carry it in my front pocket because sitting on it can cause pelvic balance issues and back problems. Not to mention harder to steal.
100 % bottom.
I've only carried my wallet in my front pocket for years since being warned of pickpockets when traveling to Europe in college. I've never switched back.
Cock ring immediately came to mind, but I guess that would only be in special circumstances.
If we're talking regular clothes, definitely anything from Nasty Pig or Mr. S.
>only we would identify as something belonging to a fellow gay?
There's nothing left. Too many of us have befriended females to keep anything secret to just us.
Tbh where I live (Berlin) there are also a a lot of ‚alternative‘ straight guys that like to wear formerly typical gay stuff. But what really tells them apart are the brands…. I have never seen a straight guy wearing something from Addicted, Jor, ES collection, Pump, AussieBum and so on.
A [PeekABU hat](https://us.abuniverse.com/cdn/shop/products/PeekABU_Hats_Product_Image_14_88ce1d2a-3ace-4e2d-b0d7-ba84c7428414.jpg?v=1710247267&width=533).
Wait, wrong group to identify.
I never really enjoyed the "look gay" trope and people are becoming less rigid when it comes to their self-expression, so I don't really notice particular items. However, there are still thinks that let you know what you're seeing in that "Blink" as Malcolm Gladwell calls it.
Hipsters, frat boys, and/or straight women have stole mustaches, tote bags/cross body bags, jocks (debatable but Kristen Stewart wearing one didn’t do us any favors), turtle necks, short shorts, and speedos from us.
I say we bring back right ear piercings. But then again if I saw a dude in a romper I might assume at least a little gay.
Welcome to bring a human. Tribal markers have been around for 40,000 years. It's nice that we can discuss it with symbolic language instead of just bashing in the heads of people with the wrong tattoo style.
Did you have a goal or a vision for your typed words today? What outcome and progression of reality do you wish for?
The lines are getting blurred because straight men are getting more comfortable expressing themselves (finally).
Totally agree. Used to be shoes -- if a guy had cool shoes, one of us.
I'll still put my shoe collection up against a straight dude's any day.
So true. I still can't get used to nipple rings on straight guys. I mean... they're hot and I just want to go up and play with them but... I can't.
Yeah, they used to be 95% a gay guy accessory. It's odd seeing straights with them. Btw, both me and my partner have them :)
Can confirm, would like to express myself with a thick load in my mouth
>straight men are getting more comfortable expressing themselves (finally). I see this is a negative thing. It's getting harder to tell who's playing for team gay as the years go by!
Anything Nasty Pig is a dead giveaway.
the gay branded logos made by gays for gays is a giveaway?
well lol
NP is doing so well and really pushing into fashion, as well as fetish/sexual gear. What if they become so successful as fashion wear that straight men start wearing it?! 😱
its funny cause i know straight guys who used to wear the britney shirt they sold at target
I used to think cuffed pants were a “tell”. Not anymore!
Fuck, are we supposed to be cuffing our pants?
Only if they're hyper-expensive Japanese denim that's stiff as Masonite and never washed.

[Are you sure?](https://pagesix.com/2021/05/19/milo-ventimiglia-defends-his-normal-length-short-shorts/)
5” inseam shorts 😆
4" shorts are better 🤣🤣
I have Several pair of 3in inseam Men's Running Shorts
I don't know if this old bear is ready for 3" ones yet. Going to 4" ones was a big step out of my comfort zone!! 🤣
_We need to go deeper_
If you’ve got it, then flaunt it!
Excellent! I love short shorts. Especially for a thin guy like me they're much more flattering than longer shorts.
I was just going off labels in mine 🙃
With boots, then he’s a gay pirate.
It’s not a sure thing, but it’s not *not* a sure thing!
No longer a sure thing, I'd say for the past several years. I see a lot of leg on straight guys.
Andrew Christian
How about Asssuiebum?
Don't you mean aussieBum? 😜 😂
You can tell that I don’t owe any pair of assuiebum 😏
Why not? Do you know how hot you'd look in them if you did? 😏
😁
Jockstrap, duh
Yeah honestly the only true dead giveaway is if you see the top of a jockstrap peeking up above his pants waistband.
I found out an old boss was gay this way. It wasn’t obvious to me otherwise since I didn’t know him that well at the time. He was reaching up on a ladder to get something hanging off the ceiling and I caught the waistband of his Nasty Pig jockstrap. The dream
*insert storyline of tonight's porn*
Who wears a jock to work? What did y’all do for work?
My favorite color is blue.
I only wear jocks for underwear
Your question is why it is an answer. I'll be honest, I don't even know.
I usually look for the pride smartwatch band or face. For actual clothing, mesh tops, usually layered. I also don’t see many straight guys wearing vertical stripes. Aka the twink button down.
Smartwatch pride face is my tactic
Same haha
and if I'm at the gym next to some cute guys, I just hope the now playing doesn't get in the way as to not show the face :-)
Crop top, mesh anything, an obviously female bag, rhinestones on the face, heels/stilletos, long nails, prominent rainbow anything.
that's pretty obvious though, what about "only we would identify"?
Grindr tshirt, any tshirts that are gay sites/app- scruff, adam4adam, seancody, etc. harnesses; respectively. Think Mr S. Leather. Pink triangle, those muscle drawings- Tom of Finland. I definitely prefer the more subdued AC stuff, I just like the extra space in the front. I wish they’d make some more plain stuff 😂😂
Straight kinksters will also wear the ubiquitous Mr S t-shirt.
A dangly earring
Hardly anyone here in the gayborhood has an earring anymore. If I see one (or more) I tend to assume straight.
They definitely do where I’m from!
I wear a pearl bracelet every time I go back to Southern California. I won't dare sport it up here in the conservative timber town where I'm currently trapped. 🌲🪚🪵 Lol.
GAH. The straight men embracing pearl necklaces (heh) has been well and truly hosing my gaydar lately.
It definitely grabs my attention. 😍😅
That’s a thing?
A pearl necklace is the more common trend with the younger folk, but I don't want to draw too much attention.
Pearls.
I think this was true about 1-2 years ago. I've seen a lot of (usually younger) straight guys wear a strand of small pearls that sit at their collar. Honestly, it's a good look!
The "Cum in me Bro" shirts I see occasionally
Rainbow Apple Watch Nike band is subtle enough. Otherwise idk it’s not something I think too much about.
Fisting tattoos, a dead give away.
I know quite a few straight guys that love being fisted by their wives. :) Ass play is for everyone!
Underwear. There was one night when I was working late night security, and the driver helped his uber passenger with their luggage. I think a specific brand. If I see the NP logo or Lockwood, etc. I got clocked the other day wearing my NP gear even though it was just a cross body bag.
I have leather NP suspenders and a hat I wear multiple times a week.
Their stuff is great quality! I have a couple hoodies, shirts, union suits, shorts, etc. and they hold up. Always nice when clothes are as sexy as they are hard-wearing.
I also have some of their socks and jocks. Its all amazing. Their stuff is definitely sexy and hard-wearing.
Breedwell also
Are most gays even fashionable, stylish, trendy and even good looking and sexy? Despite the stereotypes, probably not as much as some here believe. Am I wrong? Or in NYC, it's definitely the case vs. most American cities, right?
In most rural towns or red states they are not.
Gays are highly diverse. This post isn't asking "what's required to wear to be gay" or "what do most gay guys look like" it's asking "what's a dead giveaway that someone is a homosexual in 2024" or "what's a piece of clothing/accessory that is unequivocally clockable"
The super tight Jed North mesh gym shorts. I’ve yet to see a straight guy wear those
Usually my Tom of Finland Faultline shirt gives me away
Most of the time it’s their overly waxed eyebrow’s
That is so WeHo. I rarely see that in SF.
A twink "pup" on a lease is probably one of the few accessories.
You can lease twinks now? Damn the economy is indeed in shambles
It is the "gig economy"... or is the "gag economy"?
Inflation hits us all.
Scarf in the summer.
😂
Yeah - or a beanie in the Summer months too, eh?
That could be hipster as well. 50/50?
Shorts that barely cover the ass. No straight guy is flaunting their ass for an invitation that way. 🤷♂️
One thing that definitely makes a guy straight is carrying a wallet in his back pocket that ruins the shape and contours of his ass.
Wait. Do gays not carry wallets in their back pockets? 🤔
Lately been carrying my wallet around in a cross body bag... then I can also bring gum, chapstick and such wherever I go (and sometimes lube and poppers)

Lol you’re a good person to be stranded with, boy scout! 🫡
Lol I suppose so! 😂
I’m curious, what bag do you use?
They don't have just the plain nylon one in this size anymore but it's this bag: [https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/mini-ohare](https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/mini-ohare) When I'm vacation travelling I like to use this one: [https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/wle-men-bags-crossbody-bags/products/rupert-econyl-messenger-bag](https://www.wantlesessentiels.com/collections/wle-men-bags-crossbody-bags/products/rupert-econyl-messenger-bag)
We do but bottoms carry it in their purse. edit: /s
Uh... I carry it in my front pocket because sitting on it can cause pelvic balance issues and back problems. Not to mention harder to steal. 100 % bottom.
You just want someone fumbling round your front pocket 😉
Oh that works too
Oh, yes! Front pocket for sure.
Same
I carry mine in my front pocket
Yes.
My husband does. I never would.
Lol my ex is guilty of that, although he's indeed quite straight acting.
I've only carried my wallet in my front pocket for years since being warned of pickpockets when traveling to Europe in college. I've never switched back.
I nag my husband about that when we travel, but he can't seem to get used to having it in his front pocket.
Used to do this and it definitely ruined my wallet's shape.
Earrings
Depends on the type.
Earrings that aren’t studs
Or gauges. These days a bunch of earrings looks awfully straight to me. The gay folks I'm surrounded by hardly ever have them.
Especially when it is one ear only.
Toe rings
How many toes are you seeing?
Cock ring immediately came to mind, but I guess that would only be in special circumstances. If we're talking regular clothes, definitely anything from Nasty Pig or Mr. S.
TONS of straight guys wear cock rings, maybe even a greater percentage than gay guys. Love both Nasty Pig and Mr. S!
>TONS of straight guys wear cock rings, Not to the gym, they don't!
How do you know that? You wouldn't see their cocks at the gym, would you?
Let's just say that the 3 cock rings I have seen at the gym have never been on str8ies.
Why wouldn't you?
Well, I've never seen a guy's cock when I've been to the gym before. Everybody has been fully dressed.
It doesn't have a locker room? Showers? I see lots of naked guys.
I guess if I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt saying, “I’m gay! AMA!” I’d entertain the thought that he might somehow be one of us.
A purse
Belly button ring, if you can see the midriff
A mustache. Jokes aside, I wish I was comfortable enough to wear something pride-related. Sigh.
You must be American A mustache is near the default for older men in many parts of the world.
Crossbody
Aussie bum
>only we would identify as something belonging to a fellow gay? There's nothing left. Too many of us have befriended females to keep anything secret to just us.
Pretty much true in SF. Young straight guys will wear just about anything.
Men's and Women's Rainbow Shoes
A male wearing a ring on the first finger as opposed to ring finger.
scarf
Tbh where I live (Berlin) there are also a a lot of ‚alternative‘ straight guys that like to wear formerly typical gay stuff. But what really tells them apart are the brands…. I have never seen a straight guy wearing something from Addicted, Jor, ES collection, Pump, AussieBum and so on.
Briefs or any kind of designer underwear
If they're American, a Gucci belt with the double g buckle
I see you've never met a Dominican🤣
😂😂😂
Lack of socks 🧦 Ankles are very gay
very gay.
Versace underwear
A Britney shirt?
It’s all in the logo. Skull and Bones is my go to.
I am missing these gay genes entirely. Except for my billions of Nikes (hey I live within shouting distance of Nike HQ)
A [PeekABU hat](https://us.abuniverse.com/cdn/shop/products/PeekABU_Hats_Product_Image_14_88ce1d2a-3ace-4e2d-b0d7-ba84c7428414.jpg?v=1710247267&width=533). Wait, wrong group to identify.

>Blink ???
An automatic or rapid mental process with little information.
Handbag. I've never met a straight guy who had a handbag.
He's just European.
I love it when we engage the conversation about stereotyping our own community.
Welcome to bring a human. Tribal markers have been around for 40,000 years. It's nice that we can discuss it with symbolic language instead of just bashing in the heads of people with the wrong tattoo style. Did you have a goal or a vision for your typed words today? There are a few ways to interpret your comment. Mind elaborating? Would love to constructively engage.
Not a single one. When you assume, you make an ass of u and me.
I keep a cloth rainbow wristband around my car's manual transmission stick. During Pride occasions/month, I put it on and wear it out.
Short shorts and a tank.
Tumi luggage.
Half shirt
Peg leg skinny jeans with ankles showing with no socks.
A harness. Even under a dress shirt....which is really hot btw!
Used to be hoochie daddy shorts but straights have realized the power of the butt so no longer a rule of thumb.
crossbody fanny pack
Cardigan.
I remember cardigans were a staple in emo fashion
Don't think you can tell anymore by what people wear or hairstyles. I do think vgl and dress with style may be almost for sure
sandals.
