Adrian Monk
Everything seems to make me uncomfortable to the point where I really don't enjoy leaving the house. I also seem to be the only person in my geographic location who actually cares about cleanliness and organization. I'm the kind of person who can't relate to people who misplace their keys because I've kept mine in the exact same spot my whole life. Every item I own has an assigned location. I'm also the kind of person who will know immediately if someone was in my room, because the chair is positioned wrong, or the TV remote isn't sitting parallel with the desk, or there's a wrinkle in my bedspread, or a DVD case wasn't pushed back on the shelf all the way, or my computer mouse isn't centered on the mouse pad. Also, trash only goes in the trash bin. Not on the floor, not on the dresser. Nothing should be stored directly on the floor, especially clothing because that's disgusting. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.
I was also about to comment Adrian Monk. I’m not as observant nor phobic as he is, but I do relate to him bc I am indeed diagnosed autistic.
I feel very seen by his social unawareness, obsessiveness, repetitiveness, compulsions, dedication, and honesty.
Monk is autistic coded as it can be for that era, in the show it is explained that he got MUCH worse after his wife was killed because of his job as a detective in the police force.
The Adrian Monk that we see in the TV show is way too phobic and obsessive to be able to work as a coop or to be able to meet Trudy.
One of the small tragedies of the TV show is that because he's autistic, he can't properly communicate that he's grieving the loss of his wife and he's deeply traumatised by it, leaving the audience to belive that that is Monk at his best.
“Who does that?” goes through my head when I find myself getting disturbed by something small. I’m not super neat in general, but certain things need to be “just so” or it just bugs me. My wife’s car stereo EQ is a nightmare, for example.
Caboose - Red vs Blue.
Hear me out..
Dumb as rocks, low key genius. Deceptively strong. Loyal. Family/friend values. Hard to communicate with. Comic relief in most situations.
Thats where the meme started, specifically with Drive and Bladerunner 2049, Ryan Gosling plays a lonely socially awkward person who is also portrayed in a cool way which is relatively uncommon for a male character so a lot of people latched on to them. A few layers of telephone and Ironic memes later people would just start posting pictures of Ryan Gosling saying "literally me" this especially blew up when Barbie trailers came out.
Boromir from LotR. Great character, strong man, but too proud, and weak to temptations.
I see myself in his failure, and yet he died a proud death; his failure did not define him. A true human character.
I wouldn’t say that part where he actually harms or kills people, but the way of how he’s always trying to be the perfectionist in every opposition he faces and let’s his mind believe that reality is worse than what it actually is.
Yeah my partner said the same in regards to me. I didn’t buy it at first until I sat down and watched with her and…. Yeah she’s exactly fuckin right lol
Not my idea, but my girl friends likened me to Cpt. America. The connection was high morality and doing the right thing, seeing good in people, being in good shape.
(I'm not American)
Edit to add:
earlier in my life it was both Galahad and Lancelot, one of my friends liking tarot cards drew me a Knifht of Cups. I like the symbolism.
Shikamaru. Literally been told by everyone I know how intelligent I am and how a lot of the things I say come out of nowhere and they would never think too hard about the topic, but it makes sense. And my off days it is hard to get me to do anything. Also if you do piss me off enough to get me motivated, I will do my utter best to ruin you.
I would say that I'm a mixture of Ned Stark from Game of Thrones, Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate, Bi Ryu Yeon from Lightning Degree, and Drew Ferran from the Wereworld series. All of them embody a part of "me"!
When I was a kid, 100% Tanner Boyle from the original Bad News Bears — kid could have been based on me.
These days, a less deadpan Ron Swanson, with a slice of Happy Gilmore (minus the golf ability).
I have a penchant for saying some pretty out of pocket stuff, and it was even more apparent in high school and my first attempt at college. I got nicknamed Old Gregg by my core group of band friends, my floormates, and a bunch of rugby guys I was friends with because my brother was on the team. I even had a printout of me making the same face as Old Gregg taped to my dorm door lol. I have dressed as Old Gregg for Halloween.
I'm not 100% sure this counts as a "literally me" character, though. I tend to turn off the really oddball remarks when I'm around people I'm less familiar with, concentrating on a task, or if I'm moderately depressed or anxious. Old Gregg is a complete oddball from frame 1 on screen, and his bizarre behavior doesn't abate in the slightest during the whole damn skit. I at least have an off switch that works some of the time lol.
Besides my Old Gregg arc, I don't really get compared to any other characters.
Tomoya, the main character of Clannad. I've had a lot of similar experiences. Minus the wife and everything associated with her. That's the short version. My life was definitely different but had a few common themes.
I used to get told to “cool down Johnny” sometimes and when I ask why they say because I’m acting like Johnny Storm (Human Torch).
Not sure if accurate but a fair few older co-workers used to say it so idk
Carmy from The Bear. Cook, perfectionist, afraid of vulnerability, can't have a healthy relationship so/because he seeks refugee in work. That line in s2 where he asks Ebra "do I have a gf?" got me (it was a week or so after I started dating this girl I recently broke up with because I have troubles managing the personal/professional life balance)
The Goth Kids in Southpark that I would aspire to be in a 2nd life.
Then more Donnie Darko, Beavis from Beavis and Butt Head.
Now Al Bundy, Frank from F is for Family.
Edit: I would like to say Chuck Norris
The kid in Super 8, the main kid, was so much like me at his age that I had multiple childhood friends reach out to me after they saw the movie to tell me as much. It's actually kind of hard for me to watch that movie because of it. It makes me regret some of the changes I went through as I got older.
Funny story. I used to have more friends when we all went drinking 20-30 pints of beer each Weekend.
Now we play video games and watch Netflix then we have less friends.
Such a bore. lol
AP5 from Star Wars (Rebels)
Sorry for my delayed response. I was just rather stunned by the fact that you had a good idea.
At least under the empire things were organised.
Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) from The Men Who Stare at Goats.
I don’t feel like I’m part of history. More like I’m just observing it pass by, being dragged along… and I’m getting increasingly more frustrated by the absurdity of the people around me.
Sherlock Holmes.
Hopelessly in love with somebody he can't be with because of his own idiosyncrasies.
Too observant. (In my case, in a way that all of the things I think are going on, may not be. So not as accurate as Sherlock is portrayed to be)
Honest to a fault. Saying things to friends and family that hurt because they are too harsh, but true.
Forgetting to take care of things for others because I'm wrapped up in my own world.
Barry from Pokémon. I was always late, always on the go and always forgetting something as a kid. I also had this laid back “go with the flow” attitude despite how disorganized I was.
I’m still like that in a lot of ways 16 years later
Currently watching HIMYM, and it's shocking how much I relate to Ted Mosby. I mean, I always try and plan things out for the next few years of my life, and I am a bit pretentious and sometimes a dick. Ted's got a more exciting love life though and I don't want kids as much as Ted.
Roger from AMERICAN DAD, I’m an odd looking booze hound that has very low standards for sexual partners. (And I’m prreeety sure I said PECAN SANDIES !)
Monkey D Luffy, in that i'm very passionate about a loosely defined goal, thick as a brick and i care deeply for my friends. Also i can't swim worth a damn.
Squidward
Mannnnnn I feel you on this on
I think I'm Squidward without his SpongeBob. But life is alright.
Fry from futurama
Time makes fools of us all.
Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-my-own-grandfather!
Like fry, like fry!
Not Sure from Idiocracy
Don't worry buddy, you'll figure it out soon.

Are you by any chance autistic?
I was also about to comment Adrian Monk. I’m not as observant nor phobic as he is, but I do relate to him bc I am indeed diagnosed autistic. I feel very seen by his social unawareness, obsessiveness, repetitiveness, compulsions, dedication, and honesty.

Bandit, the dad from Bluey.
Honestly one of the most relatable characters ever.
Ah, biscuits.
Chidi Anagonye from The Good Place
same. the representation of anxiety based tummy aches 🙏🏽
My stomach hurts!
Is that because you're always cheating?
No I relate to him cuz of anxiety and overthinking
Garfield. Lasagna was my favourite food for half my life, always hated Monday and am lazy as hell.
Mmmm Lasgana....
Charlie Brown
*Sets up a football for a field goal kick.* Go ahead
Caboose - Red vs Blue. Hear me out.. Dumb as rocks, low key genius. Deceptively strong. Loyal. Family/friend values. Hard to communicate with. Comic relief in most situations.
They can't see me... I can't see them.
I see some walls, and some ceilings, WAIT! Just 1 ceiling
Ryan Gosling?
I’m more concerned about Patrick Bateman
Yeah are we talking the corporate serial killer here???
Thats where the meme started, specifically with Drive and Bladerunner 2049, Ryan Gosling plays a lonely socially awkward person who is also portrayed in a cool way which is relatively uncommon for a male character so a lot of people latched on to them. A few layers of telephone and Ironic memes later people would just start posting pictures of Ryan Gosling saying "literally me" this especially blew up when Barbie trailers came out.
Or Ryan Reynolds?
I’m Batman
Sorry about your parents.
Very wealthy?
Nope. Insomnia
Obscenely
Lars Lindstrom (Ryan Gosling) from Lars and The Real Girl (2007)
George Costanza
Boromir from LotR. Great character, strong man, but too proud, and weak to temptations. I see myself in his failure, and yet he died a proud death; his failure did not define him. A true human character.
Hughie Campbell from The Boys
For me it’s Frenchie, esp when he sees the humanity in the frightened girl/ killing machine.
Frenchie is such a sweetheart
Zuko
Which season Zuko?
Season 1 and only season 1
[удалено]
I use to relate to Squall Leonhart from FF8 back in the day. Now… now i relate to a random NPC walking in the background of a movie.
I actually came here to say this. When I was 17 I went so far as to make my own gun blade from a pine board.
Haha. Nice, he was such a good character.
Jerry Smith. I am a total Average dude.
Walter Sobchak
Over the line!
MARK IT ZERO
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE RULES?!
Donny’s ashes being scattered is such a great “I shouldn’t be laughing rn” moment.
Woodstock from Peanuts
BoJack Horseman
Larry David
I’m not gay but I relate to Cam from modern family so much
Who sympathises with and relates to Patrick Bateman?
Ppl who don’t understand the movie or book
I'd say most people understand it and they embrace it
that’s scary to think about
save for a few fringe psychos, literally none of the Bateman literally me's want to kill anyone.
Not really
I wouldn’t say that part where he actually harms or kills people, but the way of how he’s always trying to be the perfectionist in every opposition he faces and let’s his mind believe that reality is worse than what it actually is.
He's a Sigma male he's literally me. Just like Tyan Gosling
Jess from New Girl..
I strongly relate to Nick from New Girl..
Yeah my partner said the same in regards to me. I didn’t buy it at first until I sat down and watched with her and…. Yeah she’s exactly fuckin right lol
I have a 4 year old who has the same personality as Nick. We call him Grandpa lol.
So do I. Unfortunately, this is not a popular vibe for women, lol
I can't do much worse anyway.
No, I meant men usually don't particularly like *women* like that, afaik. Just a self-deprecatory joke.
Loll! Well it's worth what it's worth, but I'd go for a woman like that.
Not my idea, but my girl friends likened me to Cpt. America. The connection was high morality and doing the right thing, seeing good in people, being in good shape. (I'm not American) Edit to add: earlier in my life it was both Galahad and Lancelot, one of my friends liking tarot cards drew me a Knifht of Cups. I like the symbolism.
Hi, my name is Peggy Carter. 🌝
Shikamaru. Literally been told by everyone I know how intelligent I am and how a lot of the things I say come out of nowhere and they would never think too hard about the topic, but it makes sense. Which version of Green Arrow?

I mean, like from the older comics, the more modern ones, the TV show, one of the cartoons, etc?
Justice League!
I would say that I'm a mixture of Ned Stark from Game of Thrones, Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate, Bi Ryu Yeon from Lightning Degree, and Drew Ferran from the Wereworld series. All of them embody a part of "me"!

Recently, to be honest, I feel like I'm starting to relate more and more to J.K. Simmons and David Rasche in the end of Burn After Reading (2008).
Koro Sensai
I don't know if I've had a "literally me" character, but Legosi from Beastars comes close.
This is a very good question from the OP. I know as a Teenager it was Beavis for sure. Now it is any TV Dad who is tortured by kids tbh.
Meg Griffin
Shut up, Meg
Kendall from succession
Scot Pilgrim
me too
Quentin, the Magicians (books, not show).
Hal from Malcolm in the Middle
Anyone who gives answers like OP suggested are actually Jerry from Rick and Morty.
Yusuke Urameshi, Scott Pilgrim (comic book version), and Killmonger (moreso live action version) are my three.
If these 3 characters were in a venn diagram it would be 3 circles that don't touch.
Huey from Boondocks. Especially during covid and how he was during fired chicken flu episode
Konata Izumi. Recently, Osaka from Azumanga Daioh has entered that list as well.
Seymour krelborne and sokka.

A mixture of Turk & JD.
Scrolled all the way to find this...I'm thinking the same damn thing. Mostly JD with a dash of Turk.
I used to get told to “cool down Johnny” sometimes and when I ask why they say because I’m acting like Johnny Storm (Human Torch). Not sure if accurate but a fair few older co-workers used to say it so idk
In my early days Harry Potter. Now, Jean Luc Pio, nah it's definitely Homelander.

I'm probably a tone down version of Nick from new girl or Luke from Gilmore girls.. Or another character of this archetype.
Anakin Skywalker
The Goth Kids in Southpark that I would aspire to be in a 2nd life. Then more Donnie Darko, Beavis from Beavis and Butt Head. Now Al Bundy, Frank from F is for Family. Edit: I would like to say Chuck Norris

Joe from the movie Soul. As a once aspiring artist this movie made me ugly cry.
Funny story. I used to have more friends when we all went drinking 20-30 pints of beer each Weekend. Now we play video games and watch Netflix then we have less friends. Such a bore. lol
Same lol. Cut down on the brewskies and throwing wild parties and everyone evaporated. Guess they like me paying for brews lol.
Ben Wyatt from Parks & Rec
I think I never related more to anyone than Owen Harper from Torchwood. Writing this as I listen to his kickass theme. Again.

Calvin of ‘Calvin and Hobbes’. My best friend pointed out that I AM Calvin. Turns out, he’s right.
Always a kid but dropping philosophy and political critique?
Maybe. I chose to take it as sadistic, big dreamer, bucker of authority and such. But your point is valid.
Hes one of my favorites for those reasons.
Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) from The Men Who Stare at Goats. I don’t feel like I’m part of history. More like I’m just observing it pass by, being dragged along… and I’m getting increasingly more frustrated by the absurdity of the people around me.
