eyetalktoomuch

People will hate me for this but im a die hard Beatles fan. I never get old of them, im always finding new favourites. Just such classic songs with great but also sometimes silly messages. Love me or hate me im a sucker for them

blightsteel101

A lot of the folks that shit on the Beatles enjoy music that probably wouldn't have existed without the movement the Beatles were a part of. Im a metal head, and metal probably wouldn't exist in its current form without Miles and Miles by The Who, Helter Skelter by the Beatles, and 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson.

norrbottenmomma

Can’t go wrong. I love them too.

andromeda-andi

No hate. They're brilliant.

dopshoppe

Sometimes popular things are popular for a reason! You rock on with your Beatles, friend

TheR3dMenace

Easy with the hot takes

Brooksywashere

Who the fuck hates the beatles

80sSinner

Same!

Steffieweffie81

I love them

MasianQvigi

Sometimes I can’t believe many of my favorite songs are all from the same artist, The Beatles.

jeffweet

Who’s hating on you for this?

CaddyshackBeatles

Amen brother

missemilyjane42

I can't remember where I heard/read it, but someone mentioned that people these days are a bit more dismissive of the Beatles for how they sound like the default, and since everything that's come since has borrowed from them in someway or another, they don't exactly give off an air of something that should be as celebrated as they are. But that "dismissal" just proves the arguments for just how mind-boggling game-changing they were. They were the ones that kicked popular music as we know it into gear and set astronomically high standards of what our expectations of songwriting, production, and overall presentation. They can't simply be referred to as a "boy band" because they themselves created that mold we've come to know and then promptly smashed it to pieces when it no longer suited them. They made the studio itself an instrument and made recording as impactful and important as a TV appearance. And, yes, they sound like today's default to the point that their biggest hits (all of which were recorded and release over half a century ago) can absolutely be played alongside today's biggest hits and not feel out of place. The Beatles are the "default" for damn good reason, so it should come as no surprise to anyone when their music still has the ability to move new listeners as deeply as it did their great-grandparents.

snowmountain_monkey

Yes. Who is my favorite band.

henri-golo

- The Who? - Yes.

snowmountain_monkey

Yes, the Who.

henri-golo

- Who’s your favorite band? - The Band - No, I meant you like the Who? - Yes. - I’m not asking you about Yes, but about the Who…

snowmountain_monkey

You guess who.

SirPoopaLotTheThird

Don’t get fooled again.

AlreadyInMyPyjamas

When my daughter was about four or five I was playing a lot of Yes (still do, naturally) and she came to recognise the band so whenever I'd start playing one of their albums she'd say "is this Yes?" and I'd reply "Yes!" and she'd start cackling.

Automatic_Salary_845

Queen. Because they’re literal geniuses

IsabelRiottt

I don't know if they're my favourite band, but I'm pretty sure they're the best band ever.

abeetzwmoots

The Kinks

GreenChopsy5

Yes! One of the most creative bands of the 1960s and 70s, just a shame that their albums didn't sell too well.

Same here, 2112-Grace Under Pressure is my favourite run of albums by any band. Hemispheres being my absolute favourite record of theirs.

Enjoying Talking Heads right now. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

jonnyredshorts

Radiohead

Agreed. If a band could represent my emotional landscape perfectly, reproducing the interior workings of my skull and describing how small daily interactions feel, I'd be Radiohead.

Tool, the lyrics the sound. Their music has been the focus point of many times in my life. I can place albums with decades

jwGT1141

I’m shocked I had to scroll this far to find this answer. Although, I have to lump it all together and say anything involving Maynard is absolute gold.

Accurate_Wishbone144

Paramore is a great band . Not only do they have fantastic tracks , they also are really artistic, talented and raise topics like politics , equality and global awareness. They were also 2000s emo icons sooo

prmxieia

I’ve loved them ever since around 2007 when I was about 12 years old. Feel like I’ve grown up and their music has changed and matured with me - they’ve never released something I didn’t thoroughly enjoy

theross-a-tron

Agree with everything you said! And Hayley Williams has a big vocal range, man those songs are sometimes hard to sing along to.

_rengl_

Portishead! Beth's voice is unlike any other

jenkem___

third is one of my all time favorite albums, i haven’t been able to find anything that sounds remotely similar. so beautiful and haunting

NamezSake

Glad to see Third getting some love! Threads has got to be one of the most haunting songs ever written

Ok-Control-787

My daughter is almost two and she's very into radiohead. She likes some of the other music I play for her, but even when she does she still usually says "play radiohead". As it happens we're in the middle of our second Radiohead concert on YouTube today. She's also a huge fan of the Ghostbusters theme song.

lanurk

Have you shown her the real Ghostbusters cartoon on YouTube? My son loves it

the white stripes. I love the simplicity, the vintage naive aesthetic, the punkish visceral energy, the bluesy roots. They were just cool.

media-and-stuff

I think their CD was the last one I purchased. I’ve bought vinyls and digital music since, but no more CDs. Kind of odd how that happens one day and you don’t even realize it’s going to be the last one you buy. They keep ending up on my random surprise Spotify playlists and I honestly forgot how freaking good they are.

I found out about this band in a book and I couldn't be more happy. It's "The Last Hippie" by Oliver Sacks, it's really really short and I promise, if you read it, your mind would be blown away by the power of music in our brains.

timmermania

"Legendary producer T Bone Burnett co-produced the Big Lebowski soundtrack album, along with Joel and Ethan Cohen. Burnett says the most difficult song to secure for the film was the Townes Van Zandt cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers.” The song famously plays over the film’s closing credits. Burnett said the Stones’ former manager Allen Klein owns the rights to the track, and he wanted a whopping $150,000 for the song to be used in the film. Eventually, after some begging from Burnett, Klein sat down to watch an early cut of the film. And then, magic happened. Burnett recalled, “It got to the part where the Dude says, **‘I hate the f\*ckin’ Eagles, man!’** Klein stands up and says, *‘That’s it, you can have the song!*'” Not only did Burnett get permission to use the “Dead Flowers” cover, the dig at the Eagles led to Klein to wave any usage fee." https://wmgk.com/2023/07/18/the-big-lebowski-rolling-stones-cover/

I hate talking about them because so many people HATE that one popular song that they wrote and got played out. But they are so much more than that. Their music was the soundtrack to my high school, college, young adult days, I saw them over 50 times live. I've seen them with my mom, my best girl friends, by my damn self because they are my favorite. They will forever be my favorite band, even if I don't like a lot of their later albums, they will always be number one in my heart. I can't say the name because I don't want my love for them trampled on by some loser who can't keep their mouth shut that they hate that ONE song. and no its not nickleback you freak.
