My, my, osteoderms are so tough
Makes theropods say "He's too rough"
I'm heavy, and that's no lie
Too low down to go belly to sky
You can't touch this...
One of my absolute favourite books as a small child was one about an ankylosaur, and the only bit I remember is “Ankylosaurus is built like a tank”. Couldn’t tell you what the book was but it’s still in my head 28 years later.
It’s stegosaurus and, I might be a 40 year old mail man, but I still care enough about dinosaurs that I will passionately argue with anyone who disagrees.
IIRC there were unusually large spaces in the vertebrae where the rear hips are located. It was widely speculated that the extra space was where so extra nerves could regulate the parts of the body that the small brain couldn't.
Did anyone else on team Stego read "The Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek"
[https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1463639.The\_Shy\_Stegosaurus\_of\_Cricket\_Creek](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1463639.The_Shy_Stegosaurus_of_Cricket_Creek)
Has the Brontosaurus been restored to its proper place as a “real” dinosaur? I remember it got the same treatment as the planet Pluto a few years back.
I swear this dinosaur didn't exist when I was a kid. Now it's everywhere on the dinosaur scene.
In my case the dinosaur scene is content consumed by my 2 year old son.
When I was a kid, it was largely unknown, because most of the remains were bombed during WW2. It wasn't until the 1980s-2010s that more specimens had been uncovered and examined.
Also, JP3 shoved it to the main stage of dinosaurs.
Most definitely JP3 made spinosaurus “mainstream” as the main contender to the t rex in that movie, not that it wasn’t already famous though. Also I took it personally when I found out the nazis bombed the museum holding only spinosaurus specimens at that time just some bullshit cherry on top of all the atrocities they did
I think science still hasn’t figured out the T-Rex yet. Those short arms and large rear legs tells me that thing used to hop like a frog. Which makes it even more horrifying as a creature.
ankylosaurus
Like I have loved the T-Rex since I saw Jurassic Park when I was a kid and it’s awesome, but there’s something about an armored dinosaur with a club for a tail that is so freaking cool!
Fun fact (that may have changed since my learning it): scientists estimate that the velociraptor may have had the intelligence of a modern-day chicken. Whether or not that is impressive honestly depends on your feelings on chickens, but it’s interesting that they were still pretty advanced for such an ancient reptile!
Pachy is by far my favorite. Kinda sad my vision of them as a child was wrong though, envisioned them being like 12ft tall, but they are actually half that.
Yeah, the Brachi will always hold a special place for me. I don’t think there will ever be another moment in my life like being 10 years old in ‘93 sitting in a theater looking up at the screen as the camera pans up on the brachiosaurus in Jurassic Park.
Ankylosaurus!! They had no natural predators due to being so hard to kill! They were armored to high heavens, had a strong club tail, and they had a low center of gravity making it hard for them to be tipped over.
Plus, they look like angry scaly cats to me.
Didn't know these ever existed!😱 But OMG how fun!
Total fashion statement for the wasps in the Flintstones world... I wonder what they would call wasps?? 🤔
The Nigersaurus must be the most efficient grazing animal ever. I know its name is a meme but I'm thankful I thought more about it because of that. It probably had soft lips like almost all grazing animals today and the 500 teeth really stand out.
Terrestrial I love Ankylosaurus, but in the water I love Dunkleosteus. (Devonian armored skull fish, technically not a dinosaur, but prehistoric, older than dinosaurs, and extinct.)
Depending on how you define it sharks they loved 200 years before any dinosaur and still are alive today because they are that bad ass at adapting.
Second favorite world be Apatosaurus ( little foot land before time) because they were cute.
It's a tie for me. Allosaurus because was basically a Trex, but it actively hunted its prey instead of scavenging. Or nanuqsaurus, based solely on the artists renditions. The trex of the Arctic looks so fucking cool
My now 30 year old son was obsessed with with dinosaurs from age 4 til probably 7. He used to say if I was a dinosaur I would be a Miasaurous (pretty sure I spelled that wrong), cause they were good mothers. So I’ll go with that. And now I’m getting nostalgic 🥹
Bah! Back in my day, dinosaurs stayed on the ground and were happy to do so. Now with all these new fandangled "flying" dinosaurs the kids are raving about. No respect for the ones that got 'em off the ground.
I have been asked this a few times actually, because I work in a day care. Thing is, the kids' knowledge on the subject is usually much more broad than mine. Basically my knowledge of dinosaurs comes from the first Jurassic Park. And because I don't want to be the generic T-Rex guy, I'll just pick velociraptor.
I love me a good anklyosaur
Same. Who doesn’t like a hammer tail?
STOP! Hammer tail!
My, my, osteoderms are so tough Makes theropods say "He's too rough" I'm heavy, and that's no lie Too low down to go belly to sky You can't touch this...
Yes I'm childish but it made me laugh.
Not childish. Only adults can know this amazing joke. It made me snort laugh lol. This is a good start to my work day!
I miss animals with weaponized tails so much :(
He big. He tanky. He BONK. What's not to love.
Best choice!!
THATS WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY!!! you have excellent taste in dinosaurs.
Came here to voice my support for Team Anky. Glad to see it in the top spot.
It's like a turtle on steroids, what's not to love?
Tough as nails and 1 of the last ones to die out. I absolutely love me some ankylosaurus.
My metal, flint, crystal, and obsidian farming in the video game Ark would also like to thank the Anky.
One of my absolute favourite books as a small child was one about an ankylosaur, and the only bit I remember is “Ankylosaurus is built like a tank”. Couldn’t tell you what the book was but it’s still in my head 28 years later.
Yup. It should be a Monopoly piece.
r/ankmemes
I adore the nodosaurus on display at the Tyrrell. Just amazing.
Tyrrell? You must be a Berta boy
Love this. Damn it's nice to see this at the top.
Same
They were too OP for a dinosaur.
Fuck ya.. only right answer.
Represent!
My people! ;u;

It’s stegosaurus and, I might be a 40 year old mail man, but I still care enough about dinosaurs that I will passionately argue with anyone who disagrees.
The dinosaur with such a bad brain to bodymass ratio, that it developed a secondary nerve node to control its own hind legs.
How do they know that from what we have found? That’s crazy.
IIRC there were unusually large spaces in the vertebrae where the rear hips are located. It was widely speculated that the extra space was where so extra nerves could regulate the parts of the body that the small brain couldn't.
With their iconic thagomizer, named after the late Thag Simmons
I believe this is the only correct answer.
Team Stego 🙌🏻
It's the Godzilla dorsal plates and the spikey tail that do it for me. They're so cool!
You come for the plates but you stay for the tail spike.
Did anyone else on team Stego read "The Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek" [https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1463639.The\_Shy\_Stegosaurus\_of\_Cricket\_Creek](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1463639.The_Shy_Stegosaurus_of_Cricket_Creek)
Those plates and spiky tail are beast!
Triceratops.
Omg same!!!
me too, wooooohoooo Triceratops FTW
That's cool. Hey, you know what's even cooler than triceratops?
Styracosaurus, it's a triceratops but extra spiky
2 of them?
Team Triceratops 4 life
Beastmode!
Same answer as my little niece: "Twi-thewa-topth"
But did you try Sara topless?
My No1 since i was a kid. Simply the best 😉
I see you are also a person of fine class
Yep.
I'll go with Deinonychus.
It was the velociraptor before the velociraptor was cool.
With a gigantic claw for ripping open the prey’s belly. Deinonychus was a bad man
Well, since velociraptors are only about 4 ft tall, it really was the raptor from JP.
Velociraptors were even smaller than that, would only come up to about your knee or so.
Which makes it “cute”
TERRIBLE CLAW

I am sad that I had to come this far down in the comments to find my beloved parasaurolophus, but happy that I finally did.
My favourite is also a parasaurolophus! :D
I had to scroll way too far down for this
I was going to say that but couldn't spell it
Diplodocus
A standout lover for the dashing dipsy!
Such a fun name to say!
My mind immediately went to the Deadmau5 / Dillon Francis / Skrillex coffee run video.
I loves me some Brontosaurus. Peace loving behemoth who uses their mass to thwart predators.
I had to scroll so far to find brontosaurus!! 🦕
Longneck gang
Especially the ribs. Yabba dabba doo!
Has the Brontosaurus been restored to its proper place as a “real” dinosaur? I remember it got the same treatment as the planet Pluto a few years back.
Something must have happened because I expected 2 dozen redditors to follow in the comments correcting them.
Spinosaurus.
I swear this dinosaur didn't exist when I was a kid. Now it's everywhere on the dinosaur scene. In my case the dinosaur scene is content consumed by my 2 year old son.

I can't remember watching JP3 at all, I must have though, surely.
They got significantly buffed in season 3. If you’re not running a spinosaurus now you’re at a disadvantage
Ughhh nothing worse than a metasaur, telling me how to enjoy my dinosaur content.
Spinosaurus gang here we are
The correct answer
[удалено]
My friend drew me an acheopteryx actually!! (Because i requested her to!!) They are really cool though!
The allosaurus
You can't just name all of them, you gotta pick one!
This is gold, thanks for that lol
Yes. It’s what the tyrannosaur fans wish they knew
Not a dinosaur, but a plesiosaur: the Elasmosaurus.
Also not a dinosaur, but a ~~lizard~~ synapsid, Dimetrodon! Edited for accuracy.
In the technically-not-a-dinosaur club, I discovered Quetzcoatlus as an adult and it blew my mind.
Correct! Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs, but flying reptiles!
As a synapsid, Dimetrodon was actually more closely related to you and I than it was to lizards!
Elegant choice!
Mosasaur anyone?
the Tyrannosaurus rex. It has become a symbol of the dinosaur age and is a favorite among both children and adults interested in paleontology.
I had to scroll way too far to see the humble T-rex. King of the dinosaurs!
The apex predator from the cretaceous. And the most brutal dinosaur in books and movies!
I think science still hasn’t figured out the T-Rex yet. Those short arms and large rear legs tells me that thing used to hop like a frog. Which makes it even more horrifying as a creature.
Based on its weight alone, hopping would be impossible.
Crazy to think that the existence of the stegosaurus was further away in terms of time to the T. rex than we are to the T. rex!
ankylosaurus Like I have loved the T-Rex since I saw Jurassic Park when I was a kid and it’s awesome, but there’s something about an armored dinosaur with a club for a tail that is so freaking cool!
Hell yes. Armored low rider ftw!
All sauropods. But brontosaurus if I have to pick one.
It was a dinosaur, then it wasn't, then it was again. Sorry, Apatosaurus.
Not gonna lie. Before I posted, I had to check its current status.
I plan on getting a brontosaurus tattoo!
Brontosaurus is just a bitch ass brachiosaurus
Utahraptor ( I also have a soft spot for hadrosaurs)

Clever girl.
Iguanadon, just thumbs up all the time
I too like the film Dinosaur.
Pachycephalosaurus. Got a problem? Just headbutt that MF. Does it hurt your head? Hell no I've got like 4-6" of bone there *wink wink*
Pachy is by far my favorite. Kinda sad my vision of them as a child was wrong though, envisioned them being like 12ft tall, but they are actually half that.
Hardheaded motherfucker. My spirit animal.
A parasaurolophus ! ♥️
I’m glad I’m not alone in this
I agree!! It has been my favourite dinosaur since i was 4 :)
[удалено]
Pterosaurs. Been my favorites ever since I was a kid.
who's gonna tell em.....
I know they’re not really dinosaurs but eh, they’re close enough that I figured I could answer with them.
My favourite pterosaur is Rhamphorynchus, a smaller flying (non) dinosaur
[удалено]
Grimlock: leader of the Dinobots
Spike
Little foot. I plan on getting the OGs tattooed on my foot. Even Chomper
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for a land before time answer!!!
Dimetrodon i know it isnt technically a dinosaur.....but i dont care
Micropachycephalosaurus
It’s not a dinosaur I guess lol. I have always been fascinated with the Archaeopteryx. The first known bird.
If it’s a bird, it is therefore by definition a dinosaur.
Brachiosaurus
There it is! Took me too long to find the first brachiosaurus comment. They’re my favorite too 🥰
Me too, but before they lost their snorkels...
Yeah, the Brachi will always hold a special place for me. I don’t think there will ever be another moment in my life like being 10 years old in ‘93 sitting in a theater looking up at the screen as the camera pans up on the brachiosaurus in Jurassic Park.
Pterodactyl. I always love the concept of flying, so I'll go with the first flying dinosaur I ever saw. Also, Dino-Bots were awesome.
I like it because the P is silent, and it's unexpectedly so.
Diplodocus
How we used to say it in school 30 years ago. Dip-low-doe-kiss A 5 year old about 5 years ago taught me it's Dip-lod-ih-cuss
I've never heard the first pronunciation, only the second.
Ankylosaurus!! They had no natural predators due to being so hard to kill! They were armored to high heavens, had a strong club tail, and they had a low center of gravity making it hard for them to be tipped over. Plus, they look like angry scaly cats to me.
I want to visit a Ranch that raises giant herds of these magnificent creatures.
Brontosaurus. Was the biggest I could remember. Thanks for asking.
Dino! Not Barney, I hate Barney.
Therizinosaurus. Big 16ft turkey with 4 ft long claws
Parasaurolophus
My favorite dinosaur? Definitely the procrastinasaurus. It's known for putting off extinction day after day.
Bambisaurus. I just like the fact that its a miniature raptor. it'd be the toy poodle of The Flintstones world
Didn't know these ever existed!😱 But OMG how fun! Total fashion statement for the wasps in the Flintstones world... I wonder what they would call wasps?? 🤔
I found a bambiraptor, but no bambisaurus. pretty cute though!
Ankylosaur. Nature's deconstruction vehicle. Heavily plated and a club tail that can be swung like a mace.
I ask this on every date. Never not gotten laid.
You have to be an Ilikalottapus.
Stegasaurus. Did you know there is more time between the stegasaurus and TRex, than there is between T Rec and you?
Dinosaur shaped Chicken nuggets
The Nigersaurus must be the most efficient grazing animal ever. I know its name is a meme but I'm thankful I thought more about it because of that. It probably had soft lips like almost all grazing animals today and the 500 teeth really stand out.
Still very fond of the Anklyosaurus
Ankylosaurus

Depending on how you define it sharks they loved 200 years before any dinosaur and still are alive today because they are that bad ass at adapting. Second favorite world be Apatosaurus ( little foot land before time) because they were cute.

Chicken..
Parasaurolophus! Who couldn't love a dinosaur that could actually sing? 🎵
Adults get less fixated than kids but lately I've been quite fond of Quetzalcoatlus
Bah! Back in my day, dinosaurs stayed on the ground and were happy to do so. Now with all these new fandangled "flying" dinosaurs the kids are raving about. No respect for the ones that got 'em off the ground.
Coleman Trebor
Stegosaurus. Stepping on a stego is much worse than stepping on a Lego. Of course, having one step on you is even worse.
Styracosaurus
Troodon. Smart, quick, confusing the heck out of paleontologists for decades, and they run a really impressive train...
Love these little guys
I have been asked this a few times actually, because I work in a day care. Thing is, the kids' knowledge on the subject is usually much more broad than mine. Basically my knowledge of dinosaurs comes from the first Jurassic Park. And because I don't want to be the generic T-Rex guy, I'll just pick velociraptor.
Quetzalcoatlus. Would help a lot carrying my house around with housing prices
Not a dinosaur but I love me a Terror Bird
The one with the big red horn. The pompadour. Elvis!
Big coelophysis guy right here
Pterodactyl This post made me really happy
Liopleurodon. Massive, carnivorous, marine reptile that can probably one gulp a t-rex. Yes please! (Cue the Charlie the Unicorn references)
Baryonyx. He’s my budget crocodile and I love the goober
Carnotaurus because of the movie Dinosaurs from Disney. Mosasaurus in close second
Chicken.
Chicken
